Every time I want to dig out a movie file for watching with a particular game, it's more or less impossible to find it. This is because they are sorted by author. I know what game I am playing, but I do not remember all the authors who have worked on it or who made the last version. It is also impossible to know which version is the latest, because they are numbered by player, and not by game. You can guess from the file size or The PublisherGuidelines.html currently specifies TWO different naming conventions: one for AVIs, and one for emulator movies. This does not make any sense at all. My suggestion for naming is 1) make the AVI naming identical to the emulator movie naming. There is NO reason not to do this. (If you think there is, I also propose that we should have another completely different naming system for the .torrents) 2) change the format to "game-category-version(or time)-player(s)" or some other system which sorts correctly. For example "Sonic Advance 2 - 18:44.97 - JSP (aka. Nitsuja).vbm", or "Legend of Zelda, The - Link's Awakening (V1.0) (U) [!] - warp glitch - 04:00.5 - Jakob C. G. (aka. Soulrivers).vbm" See also http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5335 which is also good. The reason I leave out the M??? is that I hope this could also be implemented for submissions. If breaking old links is a problem, silently forward them to their new counterpart, or keep the zip name the same and change name of its contents. Yes? No? Yes.

The pendulums currently prohibit you from jumping into them from below, but jumping so you hit them from the side produces weird effects: - it can put you on the top of it instantly, even if you are nowhere near high enough - it can zip you down quickly - you can go through it, if you don't press left or right. You only get pushed to the side if you are holding a direction. >noone was answering the basic questions that needed to be answered before, so I went with something I knew Which questions? Wall-jumping would be nice, if you want suggestions for Rockman-style physics.

Requests: - Default to "read-only" when replaying a movie. - Show the frame count even when a movie is not running. - When in frame step mode, update the screen when the user loads a savestate and not one frame later.

>We haven't won a Stanley Cup SINCE 1967, and I doubt I'll see the Leafs win one before I die. AND I'M SEVENTEEN. I'm not sure I get it. Why are you a fan of a team that sucks? Why not just pick the team that wins? Then you get to be happy instead.

It looked okay. Things you should look into: The axe is a lot stronger than the boomerang, it does 10 damage compared to the boomerang which does 5. This can be compared with green spear, which does 8 damage. Walking is faster than jumping for Eric the spear dude. o_O I was wrong previously. I should have checked thoroughly instead of assuming that he had the same speed as Whip Guy... sorry about that. I think you can use both the stairs in 1-2 and 1-6 to get a boost in the same way as in 1-1, at least it's possible with Whip Guy. You get some lag in 1-3 because you don't kill the floating eyes. You get stuck against the platform in 1-11 (around frame 8690) which loses you some time. Getting the boss to stay in the corner like that was impressive, it is difficult to make him do that.

I voted no because I didn't like watching this movie. Then again I didn't like the Adventure Island movie. If it's between that movie and this one, I don't care that much which one is on the site.

Here's a game I and my brother made when we were 15 or something. It is called Ogre and the applequest (20 kb), requires DosBox to run. Crisp graphics! Superb PC-speaker soundeffects! The source was in Pascal, but has been lost forever in a CIH-virus crash. Rules: - All apples give you 1 point. - Lollipops give you 3 points. They appear every 10 points. - The rotten apples removes your ability to steer. - The fresh red apples keep/return your ability to steer. - The fresh red apples increases your movement speed. - There is a bug which gives you infinite points and hangs the game. And some others. My highscore is currently 78 (can't remember what it was before), feel free to beat it. ---- The reason I'm posting it in this topic is 1) I managed to get it working again just today, didn't know DosBox would fix it, 2) It's easy to post ludicrous ideas but hard to actually make something, and 3) I feel like programming a new game now.

Josh the FunkDOC is (was) also very knowledgeable, but he's not around anymore. What seemed like the best goals at the time were the maximum number of levels in the shortest time possible. As a judge, even though I'm biased on this game, that doesn't seem like too strange a goal. Josh had a very promising WIP of this.

I searched for "amazing voice" on Youtube, and I found this video. I believe it's from some song contest in Russia. Anyway, if you don't feel like listening to the whole song, fast forward to 1:05 and you'll understand why it's an "amazing voice"...
That was cool. For an even higher voice, but which isn't in a song and doesn't sound great, see http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=5846256

This didn't make any sense to me. I guess you need to know more about the rules than "run to the other side to score, tacke people with skin/clothes color different from your own". I will not be judging this run, I hope some other judge than adelikat has any clue about American Rugby.

Runs by other players have good luck, great luck or even fantastic luck. DarkKobold's Shining Force has OPTIMAL LUCK. Not to say the run can't be improved, there's strategy/character/item choices and other sorts of things, but there just can't be anything luckier.

>Gunstar Heroes has the biggest explosions. That's just because El Viento isn't nominated. :P Even though it has been loved to death already I go with Knuckles 3 and Sonic. I liked Gunstar and Comix a lot also.

All nominees has made high-quality movies, I went with adelikat since he had made more movies I really enjoyed watching. Ranter/Baxdil would have been next in line.

I voted for Upthorn, but I thought emu should know that he was my second choice (since noone has voted for him yet). moozooh: I don't think the polls allow changing of the choices after they have been created, and anyway adding/removing people after the nomination time was over would be unfair.

I thought this previous message said "Any comments?" before, which I had plans to reply "Only that it's awesome" to, but perhaps I was just hallucinating.

For someone to make an AVI/MPEG and upload it is probably a lot more work than for you to get your emulator working properly. Download the latest Gens version from Emulator Homepages, and make sure you have a good ROM, marked (U) [!], or just (U).

I watched it quickly as well. I think you can skip setting shuriken to 00, it doesn't add anything to the run since you get shurikens immediately anyway and there is never any real shortage after that. You should write up the frame numbers of the old movie so you can compare with the one you are making. Currently it looks like your first scene is slower than the current one. An excel spreadsheet or similar is good for this. I loved the handling of the jumping brains in the second level.

Zurreco, did you completely miss the point or are you just being ironic? If it's the first option, here is a hint.

Finally, I found it. I thought I had seen this happen, I wasn't imagining: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6nD1hguBwbI If a new SoR2 movie is made, this should be in there somewhere.

The flail-wielding boss is on vacation. :>
1 - I thought that the password screen could be skipped faster then that, but that could be just falty memory. 2 - The middle sections of the 2nd level boss weren't completely destroyed, which I believe if they are, he goes off screen faster.
For 1, any idea how? Is there some other button than start involved? It seems to be equally fast compared to the speedrun I've seen. Number 2 is a very interesting idea which we'll have to check out.

Hello everyone who is following this. After a few setbacks and redos, here is our WIP of the second level. There should be some surprises here for everyone who has played the game...

It helps to use "different from" instead of "increased" in many cases, since you don't know how the game stores data. For example, the y-axis is usually pointing downwards in video games, but not always. Speeds can be stored as positive/negative or always positive, with the direction stored somewhere else.

This movie has 3 no votes so far, but I found it to be good. What is the reason for this? (Upthorn already stated his.) I really hope it isn't "revenge" for whatever grudge people might have with AKA. That would be incredibly immature, and we vote on movies, not authors.

Do you know why you slow down the slide when you're under low roof? For example Mexico temple, around frame 8560. Looking at the frame input, you autofire C there just as much as anywhere else. Did you test letting go of the pulleys later with a shorter jump at the end of Duckburg? Since you're getting damaged anyway, can't you slide through the falling block at 23200? That's all I got. Looks like a solid improvement to one of my old favourite games.
