AngerFist: Actually, the audience is about 25% japanese. Or at least was in April, 2005. It has of course changed since then but it's probably still a good portion. I still agree that using the (U) ROMs when one is available should be the standard choice. But in this case it doesn't make any difference other than the intro screen.

>I would say don't worry about making a no-damage run... pretty much every other Castlevania movie on this site involves taking a LOT of damage to save time. The places where you can take damage to save time in this game are very few if there are any at all, since you lose both your weapon upgrade and special weapon (up+attack).

>I don't understand why. There are two main reasons I think so: 1) SNES Doom is a poor conversion of the original PC version, and a bad game overall. (I could list 30-40 reasons for this, but I don't think it's necessary. Just play both the games.) 2) I see no inherent point in accepting the same game (same monsters, levels, weapons) for several different consoles. It doesn't add new and interesting content to this site.

Hello Jason. There are three levels a submission here usually has: - New (after you submitted it) - Accepted (after a judge has reviewed it and deemed it good enough) - Published (after an AVI has been produced and uploaded) You (or a judge) can cancel your run when it is New or Accepted. Even if you cancel your run, the files remain for reference. Hope that helps.

>Truncated, that's an excellent idea. Not as excellent as the idea of you pretending I come up with your ideas! (Actually, you came up with that idea, too.) I like the HORN which says ИЯОН.

I took SMV as an example. "<>^vABCXYZSM" would also work as an example. By that reasoning you forgot "Mode".

I can say diretly that any submissions for SNES or other poor ports of Doom will be rejected, because there are already excellent TASes for the PC version. The question is if we should start to accept (or more likely host) those PC Doom movies. Doom for N64 are different, it is a new game, new levels and new weapons, so it could be accepted as a different game here. I should mention that I haven't played it. How fast does he run in N64? Faster than the ~200 km/h doomguy in the PC version can wallstrafe at?

>I figured users might want to see everything in the same list. Yes please. That is probably the best reason for using your version. I wouldn't want to see that changed. Although, if you can fit in "<>^vABXYLRsS" five times on one line, it should be possible to line up the characters all the time too just by putting spaces where a button isn't pressed down (assuming monospace font).

Another option is to color-code every button, but i suspect it's hard to find 12 colors different enough, and probably not fun to code either.

No, I really didn't pick up on that sarcasm. Sorry. I like the idea with air horns though, can we try that next time?

I feel like I'm missing something with what you are saying. But I'll try again: Players can obviously only edit their own homepage, and you don't seem to have one. Ask Bisqwit and he will create comicalflop.html for you to toy around with. This does not give you permission to edit the rest of the pages on this site, but you can of course ask him for permission to do that too.

> ... I meant getting the run under the 30 minute mark (which I did), not improving the published run by 30 seconds (there's nothing special about that ...) Well, there's not anything inherently special about getting a game under (or sub, because sub is a popular word) 30 minutes either, in my opinion. I never understood the fascination with sub this and sub that. This will be an interesting watch in any case.

comicalflop: anyone can edit their homepage regardless of if they are an editor. But homepages are not created automatically any more (after someone evil registered with names like "FrontPage", "FAQ" and "RecentChanges"), so you have to ask Bisqwit. See the list of permissions for who can do what.

Feel free to post WIPs if you want some feedback. For hexediting, you can try out Maximus new program, TAS movie splicer. It is able to handle GMV movies, both for copypasting and editing the buttons on range of frames. It's linked from the Downloads page, or in the General forum. Majsuggla? Okay, so it's not like I have the most normal nickname, but ...

>The jump sound in that video doesn't sound like the normal Sonic jump sound. I think you can get it by fiddling with the sound options in Gens. I remember hearing it before. And of course Mr_Sweed here is DMTM. Who would want to pretend to be DMTM if they weren't?

It's practical if the zip name stays the same though, so we won't have to run around and fix the links. Thanks for refixing it again. I forgot to mentioning it, but RAM search and watch seemed to work correctly last version also.

> ... before you could use it effectively you'd still need to know how to locate memory addresses that would be mapped to variables. Most (all?) of our emulators already have this functionality. The only one I'm not sure about is Mupen64. So that should not be an obstacle.

If you can supply an address which has the latest version, and also will continue to have the latest version when you release a new verion, I can put up the link at once. (Pointing to forum posts usually becomes obsolete very quickly.) This program already seems to have more features and usability than the others we link to.

>Oh wait, the Terran vanilla has many starting missions with "fastest strategy is lead units past enemies" (if I recall correctly) so actually that's a no go. If all those missions are a no go, then pretty much any campaign is a no go. Many missions, not just the escort ones, rely on "run past enemies to reach beacon / kill unit / raze building". Until you figure out how to bypass enemies, there's not much sense in trying any campaign.

I watched through this yesterday. I was going to say I was surprised that everyone so far had said that the movie was well played, because it didn't look so to me. Now I see that moozooh spotted many of the same things I thought about. I will give S@G a chance to reply to moozooh's points, but as it is I think it's unpublishable. Watching the input, it looks like you (S@G) just hammer the button for the menues, to run, skip text, etc, and this will seldom be optimal. Probably you didn't use frame advance, try it out.

xoinx: I will judge it as soon as I finish watching it. I got to the extra levels when I had to take a break, but then forgot about it.

If it means you can make stand-alone EXE files, then yes, there is very much a value in it.

For GBA games, (E) and (U) are usually identical in gameplay, because there is no 50/60 hz to care about. There isn't much reason to choose one over the other.

Did I like watching this movie? No. But I think it should obsolete the previous one anyway. Is level 3 outfit on one level = level 3 outfit in the next? It takes you quite a while to get the airplane in some levels, it would help if you could get it in advance. I don't know how many more extra hits you have to administer to the boss in the less powerful suit, but one idea is to run out of hearts just as the level ends, so you transform back automagically.
