>Yes I have a real PAL NES and SMB 1,2,3 are slower on the NES than on FCEU. A-ha. PAL games run at 50 Hz. You probably have NTSC games (60 Hz) for your FCEU. They are labeled (U) or (J). Get games labeled (E) and you will get the speed you are used to. Sometimes you have to tell FCEU to use PAL emulation in the menu.

>It's 2 seconds less input, but clearly the end of the game comes later than in the current workbench movie. Does that really mean this should be considered faster? I haven't watched this movie (yet), but I'm of the opinion that 1) shorter input length should only be used when it doesn't slow down completion of the game, and that 2) actual time of completion is more important than when input stops. Stopping the movie way before the game completes looks cool, but it is not what a movie should be judged after. We had this discussion about SMB1 also. Shorter time to completion won out in the end.

Hm. Like I said in the NES thread, I for some inexplicable reason find this game entertaining to watch... even though it's too long, and just walking and fighting all the time. So I'm going to vote yes. 188329 or somewhere else where you are ridiciously outnumbered should be a good choice for a screenshot, should this be published.

Looks well played, you don't stop for nothing... but I wonder how well suited this game is for a speedrun, because Dick walks extremely slowly, and there seems to be no way to speed it up other than jumping on the crouching guys.

I liked the game, too bad there so much lag in it. :/ I wonder why Treasure didn't think about that. About when to end the game, is it completely impossible to start on the second quest, so to speak, and finish that to get some sense of completion from it?

>http://s3plan.com/showerscene.mp4 WMP: video and audio works after forcing open Winamp: audio only QuickTime: error when opening file (but QuickTime won't open my other H264 files either) >If it doesn't work, you're doing something wrong. Right. Because obviously you can't be wrong. I have to be doing something wrong while choosing File->Open and clicking on the file. :/ I wouldn't mind at all changing formats to something which works for everyone, but MP4 is obviously not it. I agree with you about Linux Land though.

>check out da page: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2078 Didn't see anyone who complained there? Well, uh, that was before he submitted it. So they couldn't really have much of an opinion, could they? I suggest that you check the comments and votes after he submitted it instead: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2079&postdays=0&postorder=asc&vote=viewresult Admittedly the low votes is at least partially because it wasn't very well played. >"Play for entertainment, not for ego." - I thought I did that. Well, you know that this was in reply to when you wrote "I'm going to do what ever it takes to get to the moviepage." Saying that makes it sound like it's more important for you to get published and get your name on a list than making an interesting movie. Perhaps this isn't at all what you meant. I know you don't have much respect for my opinion, so I'm mostly stating it for the record.

I noticed that it's usually the circle closing that takes different amounts of time, but what about levels without closing circles, such as castles? I seem to remember the span of possible lag being greater there too. Minimizing your score really cuts out a lot of the possibilites for doing interesting things while running trough the levels. :/

Voted meh. Nothing special, to much mindless running. Looks well played though, the music is also likeable.

Keeping to my word, since people, including prominent figures of this site, disagreed with publishing this on April 1:st, I will go ahead and reject this since it's obvious it will not be published. Should anyone have a problem with this (probably along the lines of "make it a concept video"), let them speak now or forever hold their peace.

>So basically the only argument for AVI is "That's the way we've always done it," ... Yeah. That. And the fact that it actually works, which couldn't be said about your MP4-file for a lot of people in this thread. I'd rather stick with something that works. We get enough "the movie won't play!" threads as it is because people don't read the faq and download ffdshow.

>No, I'm french!!! No? Well, there are many french speakers here with good English. They can probably help you if you get stuck. Let us know if you need help with recording a movie.

>Did the MP4 work for you? Wouldn't even load in WMP9, but if you forced it, it eventually played with both audio and video. Loaded in Winamp 5.08 but wouldn't play, neither sound or video. AVIs with H264 load and play without problems in both these programs. >Secondly, anything that can play H.264 can already read MP4 by default. In other words, no.

>Was MP4 ever tried? No. At least not officially. I agree with Guybrush's suggestion. Make a short MP4 test file and we'll see if everyone can open it. At least my WMP does not list MP4 as a compatible format, but AVI with H264 is.

>btw, Someone tell me that I can direct through the Jorker without fighting Firebug. Now I am messing up. If I understand this correctly... they mean that if you have beaten Firebug before, and then died, you will not have to fight him again when you reach Joker. I doubt that this could be used in a speedrun.

JXQ: if you could figure out how to predict fadeout time that would probably help a lot. That always seemed to be the most boring and difficult part of making runs for this game.

I like it a lot. I noticed that your filename said (JUE) [h]. If this is the name of your ROM, it's a hacked version. So far it plays back correctly in (what I think is) the official version, but I suggest that you change it so your submission won't be dismissed on some technicality.

Guess: what level you start on and what weapons you have.

Well, that's another movie off my list of planned projects then. Questions: First boss, could it be faster to destroy the gears to the left first to get less walking distance afterwards? Or is the waiting time the same regardless? The autoscroller in Mad Doctor level, I think you can jump off the cart differently to keep your speed and end the level sooner. 3:04; can you jump down the hole to turn right sooner? (you do it later around 3:16) 4:30; can you start walking so you don't hit the wall before it disappears? Beanstalk Mickey: do you need the flower to grow all the way up? 10:38; jump so you hit the leaf earlier. (Perhaps the time gained is lost on the mosquitos.) 11:27; jump down the hole. 11:43; doesn't look like you hit the seed as early as possible (but I could be wrong). 12:00; i doubt that it's faster to jump from the beetle than to jump up directly. 13:13 somewhere; why did you stand on the book to lower it if you were going to bounce off the enemy anyway? Why not bounce directly? All in all it looks like a good improvement.

>I think that's impossible to presume what the viewers like. The comments you got from your last submission for this game is a good source of info. Many of them were negative about the game. If you don't want to make a whole version to find out that people didn't like it, make just one level and upload your partial movie to the corresponding forum (in this case, the NES forum) and ask for opinions. A list of free uploading space can be found at http://tasvideos.org/GenericTips.html

Found some info: https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=6114&topic=35 https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=6423&ctx=sibling To me it sounds like someone just checking out where the ads lead out of curiosity could be regarded as invalid click activity. It also sounds stupid that the owner of the ads should be responsible for what all the users who visit the pages do. If someone is trying to inflate revenue by clicking on the ads all the time, why not just give any revenue for all clicks by that IP address?

How about making a version which supports all the emulator formats at once? I think that most people would be very interested in one. I haven't checked your first version yet, but I will.

Looks like this suffered from the common "lost star trough obsoletion" phenomenon.
