Har har har. Very actionpacked. And I liked variation between the syncronized dancing, just standing around taking sniper shots, keeping one enemy alive and have him run around trying to clobber you. All in all, I think it's a very entertaining video, so I'm voting yes.

>UT 2004 all of a sudden stopped working for no apparent reason. And by all of a sudden, I mean today, when I read this topic. And you think that's a coincidence? We know where you live. *cue ominous music*

Plays trough for me with WIP1 timing, VEHR, and Sync samples turned on. I don't think I have anything special turned on except for that..

Hm. I don't think I would agree that this is one of the best side-scrollers for NES. Seems like very standard running and shooting to me. Not much variation in enemies or level layout. The bosses are boring (and ugly, but that's the fault of Power Rangers and not this game) in my opinion. It looks like it's well played anyhow.

It took time for me to do it too. I was just testing if it was at all possible. And I don't know what makes it happen sometimes, but lag might well be the answer. Is it easy to do the dissappearing trick in MM2, you say? That might even warrant a switch (trick which is not available in one version is a good enough reason says the rules page).

>Also, about the Fan Fiends in the Air Man stage...I notice you spend a bit of time fighting them. Wouldn't it be faster just to scroll them off the screen? Hm. In my experience, that wasn't possible. You can back off so that they disappear, but as soon as you go a bit to the right again, they're back. But trying it now, after them dis- and reappearing a few times by scrolling back and forth, I managed to get one of them to disappear when I walked to the right. Perhaps it can be done consistently?

Things I noticed: * It doesn't look like you hit the 2:nd boss as often as you could * The double jump to skip going into the water in the 3:rd stage that mikwuyma commented on, I saw it too. * The weird boss (no 3) that opens up and spews objects all alround didn't look like it was being hurt as soon as possible all the time. * At the end of day 10 it looked like you could have jumped sooner to up the platforms if you had only made sure you were on the ground at the time. * On level 12 and 13 you could have cut corners a lot better vertically. Because of this (and I'm guessing there's more), I'm a bit hesitant to accept this movie. It's not bad, but it could probably be better. Should we accept this as is or wait for a better version? I'm leaning towards wait for a better version currently but it's not impossible to convince me otherwise. At least Zer0 is still around to make it.

The preferred course of action would of course be to cancel this and start making a new version.

Today, I judged the last movie submission from 2004. As I'm sure you've seen we have about one and half page of unjudged submissions in the Workbench forum. A week of waiting is nothing. Also, 6 yes votes isn't all that much, but it depends on the game. Since this is an improvement to an existing movie, it should be easier to judge, though.

I don't think faster loading times are worth switching versions for. It's the gameplay that's important - a movie doesn't look more or less impressive because the game starts 2 seconds faster.

>Why would you be satisfied then if not all genres are represented, i.e. there isn't a single RPG on the list? This includes Secret of Evermore, the unstarred run that I think deserves one the most (if Ouzo ever finishes his Lost Vikings remake, that would be another). Two of the star movies are listed as RPG: A link to the Past and Legend of Zelda. Even though I enjoyed the Lost Vikings movies so far, it's not at all an RPG, it's a puzzle (possibly slash action) game. You can't even talk to people or explore the world you're in. Not every category is represented (no sports for example, and I can't agree with UK being a sports game), and there's a heavy slant against platformers, but that's because a majority of all the movies on this site are for platformers. I think we need to understand that we will never have a list of recommended movies that everyone can agree 100% on.

Hm, okay... but I don't think your testing included trying to walk into a non-passable tile several times so that the game sounds grt grt grt grt. Because that's what happened right after the brigands. I didn't bother watching any further than that. Since I wasn't prepared for that and didn't make a savestate before it happened, would you mind supplying one with your next update? That way I wont' have to watch the same 50 minutes again. Watching this was entertaining in some mysterious way, even though it was really quite repetitive.

My views on the subject: Stars are primarily movies that are good examples for newcomers and secondarily movies that are just awesome. I feel that there should be variation in which movies have stars, that is... - at least one star movie for every system - not all star movies should be from the same series, or even worse same game (so I'm happy that the same Mario game doesn't have three star movies any more) - there should be some variation in genres, meaning some platformers, some shooting, some RPGs - the (majority of) the star movies should be for games that are fairly popular/famous - the movies of course also be very impressive. As such, I'm quite satisfied with the current selection. It seems like a lot of people would also like some kind of top 10 for movies in terms of populariy and awesomeness. That kind of thing is probably better solved by some kind of voting system rather than one person choosing them. That means extra work of course, because someone has to code it. But if at all possible, I think that is the best solution.

This is up for judgement. Anyone who has anything to say about it should do so asap. In my opinion, this run is very repetitive and not that entertaining to watch. Run - overhead attack - repeat. Frankly I don't really understand what so many people liked about it... but since they did, I'm not sure how to judge it. Any comments would be helpful.

Aww, you didn't use any of the zipping tricks in Dust Man crusher? Was it faster to just run trough?

Hm, that's weird. I got a desync just after you defeated Xing Dao Something (159700 somewhere). Some brigands turned up, you ran away, then you ran into some more and went all out, after that things went downhill.

I was thinking about the same thing, but finalfighter did the same thing in his run, so I just assumed (assuming is the mother of all f*ckups) that there was a good reason for it. Although I still don't get what that would be.

Aha, so this enemy cannot take damage at 30 times per second? That would explain it. Thanks.

>Anyway, the reason was that I didn't save time on that, because when the game scrolls I can't move (if I am on the right side). If you jump right as the game is about to scroll, it looks like you can move for a while when the game scrolls. I'm not sure if it saves time, but did you try it? I tried the other suggestion i had, but that one definitely doesn't work. I think my biggest problem with this would be that, even if it would be perfectly played, it's just not a very entertaining game.

One thing caught my eye: in Airman, against the guys with fans that blow you away, you don't shoot as fast as possible (every other frame). Wouldn't doing this kill him faster and thus give you normal walking speed a bit earlier? It's frame 20338 and it's 4 frames of pause between shots instead of 1.

Hello Diman. I forgot to watch this when it came so I though I would now. - Can you stay on the right edge of the screen after the dancing dracula? - Can you jump to keep forward speed during slashing at the green mouse boss (17400)? - The bosses just seem to be waiting periods, most of them. That's not very interesting to watch... I'll edit later with more comments.

Mmm, looks great. You included everything I complained about in the previous version. Here are some more things: - In the dragon fight, he sometimes loses height, does that mean that he isn't hurt constantly? - With the green wizard, did you try blasting him with the dragon as while you're walking there? I suppose two switches + slower walking speed might well be slower, but I thought I'd check. - 21300 somewhere, can you grab the ceiling with the mouse instead of switching to dragon? - The ice level, you often choose not to Switch to Samson for the vertical climbing, how come? - Weird wait before exiting at 23912. Is it always like that? - Doesn't switching to and from the dragon lose some time? Why not just stay as stone man? (Edit for clarification: during the ice boss fight)

I'm glad you liked it. :) >that blue orb (which kept going away after I tried using it) It uses a lot of ammo (8) and if you run out it is automatically replaced with whatever you had before. That's why I tried to pick up the crystals whenever it was possible. >So it's faster to jump than to walk? Yes, marginally. In the first short screen I think the difference was 13 frames, over 11 longer screens that adds up.
