Isn't it just frames + 60*sec + 3600*min = the number you want? Assuming you're playing at 60 hz (NTSC).

Hi. And welcome! The Snes9x movie format doesn't support super scope, that's why. None of the shooting actually gets recorded in the movie file, even though you see it on the screen. Until someone decides to update the SMV file format, you'll have to pick another game to run. It has been generally agreed that zapper-like games don't make good tool-assisted movies anyway, because the only skill required is reflexes, and with tools you have perfect reflexes.

>I've heard people say that using a 3-button controller setup makes desync less likely. Is this true? I've seen nothing to support that it is, but maybe it matters more for certain games? I have no idea really if it makes desync more or less likely, I haven't had any trouble as long as I kept the controller settings the same as the movie specified. But I know that older games don't check what kind of controller you have (since 6-button controllers weren't around when they were made), it only makes a difference in newer games. I haven't had any problems with freezes when loading different savestates either.

Do we REALLY need to hijack another thread (another sonic thread at that) with xebra arguing over pointless crap with whomever? Just drop it already and be happy with the great submission. Happy happy joy joy rah rah rah, okay? Good.

I got that glitch, it's even present in the standard version. But there it can never be activated outside of debug mode since there are never any rings close to the goal.

Here's a little something I slapped together in a few days. It runs in the "Alien Soldier (A)" rom under European mode. At first I just thought I'd record trough it to see if the end demo works in this version (it does), but then I decided I might as well learn something about the game in the process. Some of the levels/bosses are very fast, some are craptacular (like the first one). I recorded it mostly at 50% speed and with only one savestate. For anyone interested, here it is: http://133an.sytes.net/~truncated/AS(A).zip (Cut n' paste it, the url function seems to be out of order.) It goes up to the last boss, but there I lost my motivation. I'm considering making a real (good) version as soon as I get it back.

No, it couldn't. The japanese name for that species of enemy is バブルスライム (baburusuraimu) and バブル means bubble according to my dictionary. It's quite obvious it's only a mistranslation. That particular enemy (Metal babble) is actually called something quite different in Japanese, though. Thus ends this offtopic chatter.

>I just guess, that someone that has already spent many hours playing this game, will have the experience for the fastest route and the fastest tricks / time. I agree with this. Having played the game a lot helps immensly when making a TAS. But it's not impossible without it, it's just more work. >And I would prefer a player behind this run, that have discovered many of the tricks or that has proved his skills. Not someone who watched all possible videos and tries to do the same "pixel perfect". Well, it's not like anyone can stop FODA from doing a run. But he doesn't have exclusive rights to it either. You or anyone who has played the game a lot would like to make a run there's nothing stopping you. If you want to give tips and routes to FODA I'm pretty sure that would also be appreciated.

>language barriers don't make it very easy Tell me about it. Speaking of which, I think I just realized that "Metal babble" is Engrish for "Metal bubble". I can't believe I missed that before. I don't think that particular enemy talks a lot.

The improvement% does not seem to be percent at all. It looks like tastime/consoletime, instead of (consoletime-tastime)/consoletime. Am I missing something here? Where did you get the times? Most speedrunning sites count time a bit differently from us, excluding intro screens and such, but in long runs it shouldn't make that big a difference.

Some time zones are actually half hours apart. But anyway. The most likely explanation is obviously that your click muscle twiched really slow.

There is no way unless someone with server access (being Bisqwit) simply switches the files. Come on, it's 2 frames in a 7 minute movie. This one will do, won't it?

I think every politician who has ever run in some kind of election has voted for him/herself. If even you yourself don't think you're worthy of running for office, the best idea is to not run at all. In other words, it's okay to vote for yourself and you shouldn't submit it if you don't think that it's no good. Then it's probably better off as a post in the corresponding forum. That's my take on it, anyway.

Is this identical to the last version you made? Because the filesize is exactly the same and I can't spot any differences.

Hm, the front page has been updated to link to the old movie search instead. But... this mean we cannot search for game names instead, at least not without fiddling with the URL. Yes, I know. We're never satisfied.

There are two different roms for the (U) version. (12134) and (7581), whatever that means. The (12134) is the correct one.

You cannot save games which are played offline, if that was the case. It sounds like it, since you saved and loaded. Elapsed time is the same regardless of settings, I think, but I could be wrong. At least the ingame time counter (for missions and such) runs faster when the game is set to fast.

Minus the last boss, I found this very entertaining. Too bad we didn't get to see the dog in action, but I guess that's the way it is. Voting yes.

I guess this is a yesvote since it's quite a bit better than the last one. But I could really have done without all that jittering whenever megaman fell downwards. I really could have.

Voted yes. It's a good improvement on the previous version. The only thing I thought of was health management near the end, I remember previous movies all saved up health and took damage on the rematches with the bosses in the end. But perhaps it was better spent somewhere else.

>I believe I already have made a GH1-3 movie that I consider superior. Uh-huh. And was this way faster than what JXQ is doing presently? (I think style is up to the author to a very large degree.) If it was I too hope that he will incorporate it. Otherwise, I think this argument is unneccesary and just brings a bad mood and hostility in this thread.

You can decide to cancel the classes which didn't recieve more than 2 nominations, convert the rest, and be done with it. That's my opinion at least. People have had plenty of time for nominations.

xebra... you're being an ass again. Stop it. JXQ has produced a good movie so far, and there's no reason to be acting like this. If you're convinced there is some better way which he is missing, why not just make a movie of it?

The link has expired. That site deletes content after 7 days or 25 downloads, whichever happens first. Try another site.

Mr Monkeyman's website seems to be up again at http://www.mrmonkeyman.com/ but the Alien Soldier video is not available there. I emailed him and asked if it was possible to make some kind of arrangement since it would be a great help if/when i decide to do this. We'll see if anything happens.
