Did you read the FAQ? Specifically, http://tasvideos.org/CodecProblems.html I've given up on the AVIs myself, so that's all the help I can offer.

>C actually. I thought I did that? Damnit. It's only one frame! :/ You mean one keypress is missing at the end of the file? I've had that too. I think Gens actually truncates the last frame of info when you choose "Stop movie", so you always need to input one more.

>Only the first level he didnt finish with as little health as possible, but he probably only realized it later and didnt want to remake everything. He knows the mistakes on the run. I figured it was because the first boss is airborne, and cannot be hit with the special, and the rest are not. You could probably use up the life in the level somehow if you wanted. But perhaps you're right, I'm just guessing.

I was going to say that you don't end every level with as little health left as possible, but then I realized that the bonus levels would be extremely boring if you avoided all the goodies and didn't kill any enemies to minimize the countdown. So I think you made a wise choise and that this run should just be labeled "Ignores bonus effects". I voted yes, too.

>Buster seems to hate jumping in this game, at least at the maximum speed. Every time you hit the jump button, he delays for a bit it seems. It's not noticable by the human eye, but with slowdown I see it. At 6% speed it is around a 1~2 second wait, which is around 3~5 frames I guess. This is normal. There is almost always some delay between button press and actual result on the screen. Mostly 1-2 frames, but some games have up to 4 frames.

Hold the buttons you want to press the next frame, and then press the advance button. Between buttons you usually need a blank frame (so that the game realizes that you pressed the button twice, rather than just holding it). There's some more info in UsingEmulatorTools.

Hm. What is the problem with id=linking them? Is it because they might become obsolete sooner or later? You can search with name= instead of course, that only gets the current non-obsoleted movies. Some movies are impossible to find "alone" with this method, because their full name is part of another name (sequels, usually). >jxq2000 wrote: Correctly title and alphabetize the movie pages. I agree with this. Some movies are named badly or inconsistently. I can take the responsibility of fixing this if I get the user privileges.

I think both X1 and X2 runs lost their star to Dehacked's dual run. But I'm not quite sure.

Bah, it's Spear DUDE, Not Spear GUY. That's the Whip guy's last name. Joking aside, I thought Lecarde was somehow related to Alucard - the names bear some kind of resemblance, at least phonetically.

Probably it just didn't carry over automatically for some reason. I added it back. There's the question if Zero's parts should count as items, but I'll let someone else figure that out.

If I'm not imagining, in the PC version you can win the last mission just by harvesting enough spice. I don't remember the exact amount. This doesn't seem to be the case in the console version, though.

I wonder to which extent regular missiles can be manipulated to miss, or even hit their own units and structures. Oh, and the follow command actually works in this version of the game. It doesn't in the PC version, there you are forced to click each and every unit where it's supposed to go. But it's okay since you have a mouse. Ok, ok, I will record something. Hope it's okay if I start with the third level since the two first are just harvesting.

No... I was going to. I played just one stage to try out the controls, but then I got stuck in "just one more stage" syndrome and played 4 more, while getting nothing on file.

I have only watched the first version, but I voted anyway. I don't agree with two stars. A two-level system for recommended/standard is fine. It's more than obvious that this movie should inherit the star of its predecessor, though. Looking back... Bisqwit said this 2005-02-13.
I'm aiming for at least 30 seconds of improvement, but even 50 might be possible...
---- EDIT: If you are still updating this submission, and you want somewhere to put the powers of Bisqbot to use, how about the luck manipulation in Gutsman stage?

I'm in. Not with playing a lot, but I'll point out things in all the WIPs if that's wanted. I played a few levels (real time) and realized this run will be extremely long. After three or four levels I was already way past an hour, and the two first levels are fairly quick. One thing I noticed was that the enemy base in Atreides 3 can be attacked from behind, drawing a minimum of enemy fire. Just take a detour to the right and move along the top of the screen to the right. There's also a mass of tricks abusing the enemy AI: Sometimes, if the enemy is attacking one unit, pull it back, and the enemy units will follow while drawing fire from all your other units. Sometimes you can get the enemy to shoot his own base (when it's in a line between his unit and yours), or you can make him waste his firepower on one of the mountains while you're pounding his base.

>I hope you're kidding about the official names. =P No, no, I'm completely serious. Whip guy and Spear dude, that's what it says in my instruction manual. :P I hope someone will get around to doing this one, in any case.

Do you have any plans for the screenshot of this baby? If not, how about this one:

This, of course, goes straight into my to-be-watched list. Unless you did something extremely stupid on the rematches and the last boss, there is no way that this will be a no.

Well, if you pressed the keys in the exact same order as the movies do, then it's possible. The same thing would happen on a SNES console. However, pressing the buttons in that order is impossible for humans - there are timing, speed, and memory issues. In that aspect it's impossible to reproduce on a console.

I've been thinking about why noone has made this game yet. I actually searched and checked the topic just days before the bump. I would do it, but 1) I don't know the game very well, and 2) there's too many games stuffed in my todo-list as it is, and I'm very inefficient. What's the advantage of being the Whip guy? He has a swing move which seems pointless. Spear dude (those are the official names, by the way) has a special jump which can be used to skip some sections.

>Thats a major diffrence between the Sega and the PC version Truncated. You can only build ONE palace in the Mega drive version. ;) WHAT?! No Fremen spamming?! :( That was like the best part of the game. I also read in some guide that the Palace can be repaired for free. What the heck is up with that? >I would appreciate if someone recorded a simple full game movie, no matter how fast. Maybe. Do you want it in Atreides campaign specifically?

Another thing:
7) To shorten the long delay between weapon/ability regenerations at a palace, quickly destroy and replace the palace after each use. (Whenever any new palace is placed on the battlefield, its weapon/ability will be available for immediate use.)
This is generally a bad idea. If you have the space, it's smarter to just build two palaces. You will get the immediate special, and the next time you will get double specials. Only if you have no space to place a new palace should you destroy the old one.

Watched the movie. Although I would rather see all-out kill everything, that's your choice, but you missed one important timesaver: You should move your harvester so that it's as close to the base as possible just when it finishes harvesting. I think it was 2-3 seconds away from the edge now. I consider Ordos the hardest... probably Harkonnen is the easiest because you only have to deal with one death hand (from Sardaukar). Don't care about the lag. Everyone wants to see the action! Aim for entertainment instead of time if it matters.

Give it to me. I'll just forget about it if I wait with getting it. You can email it to the usual address.
