Previous versions of Gens had a bug where all the buttons were held down upon movie completion. You're not running an old version, are you Bisqwit?

We all already know that this run is the supreme awesomeness, so I'll just put my "yes with a star" on the growing yes stack. Chemical plant really shines as one of the best levels in my opinion. It has been my favourite since the beginning of this run. That and Oil Ocean which is sick, sick, sick. The crowd begs for more movies from Quietust.

You took damage in the subway section (before 19:10 somewhere, and again at 19:46), so you'll have to redo from there. If you don't pick up the chicken in the Yamato fight there's an easter egg which I think you should show off. The Yamato fight was very classy, in any case. Since he always jumps up in the opposite direction of yourself it's very hard to grab him all the time in real play. You flubbed a punch in the middle somewhere though.

Yesssss... Q is back. Skychase is a boring zone and there is not much to do about it. Is is possible to collect 0 rings and kill 0 monsters? I don't know if that would make it better. Perhaps there just isn't a way to make this stage entertaining.

I liked it. Record it at 44 instead. That is standard now so you wont have to go trough this trouble again when you submit it. A fansite for those interested: http://www.jhughson.freeserve.co.uk/alisiadragoon/ I only know about it because it's the same guy who runs SOR Online. I'll be watching this if you post as you go along.

Did you forget to do the fast-jump-down-cliff trick again, or did I just dream that?

Just like the other Super characters he has his regular combo replaced for about 10 frames of 16 dmg each. 104 dmg is a full lifebar. There are actually 3 variants of Super Axel too (at least), but let's not go there. Slight offtopic over. What about the movie?

>The second time, I went to load my current state (named zan) and it thought I was going to load one of my earlier states (for example, zanStage1Scene2). I pressed enter without thinking, and there you go. Whoa there, you use names for all your savestates? Not the F5-F8 hotkeys?

I couldn't do it before either, but now I found a way. Activate the Super Skate and Super Axel codes too at the same time and you'll be fine. How did you manage to lose all your stage 4 work? Is it because of desync (are you sure you loaded in the correct order?) or because of loading the wrong savestate? If I was doing it, I would probably do one scene at a time, stop and playback to see that it worked, and backup the working copy. That way you lose one scene maximum. Which is still bad but at least not as bad.

Super Axel is a secret cheat code and as such not likely to be allowed. Super Skate only involves dying once. Still, using him would be pretty boring. Roo can be selected by losing a continue, but he's not stronger than the regular characters so there's no point in it. There is also a super Zan but he can only be reached with game genie, at least what's currently known.

There have been co-op finishing without killing any monster (use megahealth and SSG) and I remember one built demo which used a rocket into an enemy to get a boost onto the final ledge. In pacifist you cannot damage the monsters, however. Something that surprised me even more is that noone has done pacifist level02 yet, if I read that right.

A lot better than before. - The menu manipulation is slow. Use frame advance and you can test which frame is the earliest to move/press start. - Shiva battle is a lot better, but it would be faster if you could take the last health with something else than a throw because it means a lot of extra slowmotion airtime. - I'm not sure if what you said about the bikers is correct. If you hit them after the start-up phase they tend to stop in their tracks halfway. I think they only go faster if hit before they start moving. - The Roo-clown battle is a LOT better, but I wonder if not down-punch + flurry every time would speed it up even more. - When there are more than one enemy and one of them have more life than the other, you should attack that enemy first. The second signal group in the disco comes to mind. Oh, and don't lose work. Make backups. Lots and lots. Everytime after playback before loading a savestate.

>Yep, I remember you all too well, Truncated. Haha. You sound so happy to run into me again. Frame advance: http://tasvideos.org/UsingEmulatorTools.html Check the FAQs first. About the video: - Zan's combo is crap, so it makes no sense to use it on the agent enemies. Throw them. - You don't use down-attacks for an extra hit even though it would probably save time in some places. - The flurry can be done faster. - Some of the frames for Zan's tackle doesn't give enough damage to kill the bikers. Redo it until you get one which is enough. - You can stand close to Shiva to make him get up faster. - You could use the X button to use the bigger blitz attacks. Zan's are pretty lousy though. - Getting thrown by the signals loses time, unless possibly when hitting other enemies. But just fighting likely has a higher damage output. - In my opinion, health is for using if it saves time. I know that some people disagree. - The Mona-Lisa can be grabbed and thrown a lot more. They are weak when they get up from being knocked down. - The walls take damage at a constant rate, so I think the only way to beat them faster is with a character who runs faster. - You can time the car in level 3 to hit the three garcias jumping down. Also you can hit them while they are sitting there (buggy) On a positive note: - I liked how you threw everyone in the holes. I always do that when I play this game. It adds a lot to the style. - Getting the three knife-gacias run-over was good.

Hey there atro city. Remember me? SoR3 is difficult to speedrun, because no character has a particulary high damage output. Some characters can scroll the screen faster (unlike SoR2) but that probably doesn't matter much because a lot more time is spent fighting than advancing. I'm not sure that Axel would be faster than Zan, but feel free to prove me wrong. Shiva ending has more enemies and better music, and a better boss, but it's not the _real_ ending. Plus it requires you to stand around and wait until the general/cheif dies, which will look stupid. I would go for the good ending.

Power play and Super play are also definitely already taken.

>... take the opponent by the legs, spining him and throw 10 meters away. Does anyone know the name of this game? I have played this game exactly once. I'm sorry, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it.

>Kind of...you hold A+B on first controller then hit A on second. Unless it's listed in the manual, this sounds like something which could get you in trouble with the rules. I can understand that the run would be a whole lot less interesting without it though. I don't know what to think.

>Now, if the file is stored like I think it is, one byte per frame, a bitmask of the buttons pressed at that frame, I could easily remove that. Care to confirm this? Three bytes per frame. Otherwise you are correct. See http://tasvideos.org/GMV.html >One, how tf did it manage to suddenly change between working and not work overnight? Did you play it from a savestate either of the two times? Did you have the correct button config? Did you have the same sample frequency? Did the file get corrupted because of harddrive failure? (very rare, but anyway) Do you have a backup? Otherwise I'm out of ideas. I have no idea why other people are getting desynchs in Gens. I've never had one. It runs like something that runs really steady.

Do you know where in Japan you'll be? What will you study? Next year is still a long time away. But anyway. Since I'm here now feel free to ask me anything. Maybe I can help, maybe I can't. I just remember that I didn't have anyone to ask about all the things I should have asked about.

Too many categories are probably are fool-proof way of never getting this off the ground.

The votes are kind of pointless if someone finds a fault other than "I don't like it", like "you didn't take this shortcut.

The wild warp is activated how exactly? ... It's not a secret button code, is it?

I wanted to try to give some more input on this, but my connection at home is fried for some reason, so I can't. :( I am currently at my lab, but I can't watch the movie here. Sorry.
