One thing I thought of: can you attack the domes which shoot bouncing lasers from the opposite side of where you enter? There's a delay before you can start to attack anyway, and you have to walk to the opposite site afterwards anyway.

Hello there. I remember Gods, though I only played it for the PC. Damn that was a frustrating game. You could only jump forward, never straight up, and while on moving platforms you had to walk forward to stay on them. Perhaps that was fixed in the console versions. The nonsensical puzzels probably weren't though. Let us know if/when you need any help. And welcome to the forums, too. Hope you'll have a nice time. Oh, and make backups.

No. You are still slower than Mazzic's movie. I watched your run and then his and you constantly lag behind. For example you finish the first level at 3613 and he at 3490. That's 2 seconds right there. For some reason you skip three or four levels compared to his movie (those right after getting all the characters), which is why yours is shorter while still being slower in all of the levels. Why is that?

I had already seen almost all of it, but I went ahead and watched all of it anyway. Very good, but you knew that already. :)

This is exactly what I meant. Now I can vote Yes without all the caveats. The music in this game varies between horrible and kind of good.

Decided to continue this: At the very start of Elecman level: you turn around in one of the jumps to shoot an enemy behind you. Doesn't this mean that you land later? I see no reason (aestethic?) too shoot him then and not later. 3650: You make a small extra jump to the right block just before the ladder. You didn't do this in your previous version and it seems very counterintuitive. Even jumping from one block higher is better? The right path trick thing: elsewhere in the elecman level you do this trick to the right side, come out on the left side, jump, and then enter the right side of the screen again. I tried this at the appearing block place and I fell trough the wall on the left... how does it work? At the place where you have to wait for the red jumping thing you also appear on the left side. I'm guessing you are only visially and not actually there because other wise it's faster to continue from the left side than to warp back to the right... Iceman boss: Could you spend less time is paused mode (elec beam is wide) so that you're closer to the ball when it falls down? 18600: the enigmatic wait before entering the wall. I'm out of ideas short of debugging the rom machinecode and see which check it fails and what variable that changes so that you start moving again. I don't understand the Fireman battle... surely it's possible to hit him as soon as possible all the time even without taking damage? That's it... mostly it's stuff I don't understand, such as how the up+down-ladder trick works.

Why is everyone forgetting the same extra jump in Bombmans stage when going upwards two ladders? The screen where cannonballs come in from the right and there are spikes to the left. By the way 4matsy... you didn't use any of the up-down tricks. Do you still have the old version of FCEU? I did 36 min now. Hooray. No continues, but still not anyway near good.

Whoa... that's amazing. I can understand how it's frustrating to get it exactly right. But you do it in two passes now. Is it really possible to do all 8 in one pass? Say you could only do the first 6 spheres in one pass under optimal conditions... then the last two would still take an extra pass and the time gained would be very small or perhaps even none. I'm thinking maybe 21 seconds of improvement is fantastic enough for this level. But if you want to continue trying, who am I to object?

I just managed a... 48 minute run. You can see if it you really want to, but it's not worth your time. I just played on despite dying and taking 4-5 continues. It was my first try at the Wily levels since I had always died and started over. I hate, hate, hate, hate the stupid magnet beam.

That's blackmailing. Besides you have to register so it goes over my level of allowed bother for something I really don't want to do in the first place. Sonic 1 is actually one of the few games I can speedrun on this computer (you only need direction+jump most of the time). But I am so not skilled and knowledgable enough to do that. How about this: if you finish Sonic 1, I promise to vote for all of your DOTA heroes, or cancel my account here and never come back.

Hm, very few comments here. I remember this game. It was one of the most overhyped games ever. In reality the controls were bad, the hit detection was bad, the level design was bad, and you died way too easily. Bah. I don't know what to think of this movie. I hate the game too much to make a just judgement.

I'm changing my opinion and agreeing with you Michael. If what you wrote is correct, don't switch to E version. Good luck with the rest of the run.

Okay, I went ahead and voted Yes. This is really a lot better than the published version. My opinion is that a run which is played at the hard mode should obsolete this version (should it get published) even if it is slower, as long as it uses the tricks this one does and manages to look decent.

>Run validity - It may be the case that serious speedrunners frown on this version of the game. Some serious speedrunners frown on this verison of speedrunning. So you're pretty screwed anyway whichever version you pick.

Have we confirmed that the torizo can be skipped in the Euro version, or are we just assuming it can because Samus runs a bit faster? If it can a switch would be worth it. Otherwise not, of course. Flatley, you mentioned other extra things which could be done with the E version. What are they?

From memory: You cannot touch the select button ever under TG ruling. And even if it's not written out I'd be surprised if they accepted a run with any magnetbeam/going into walls tricks. Like I expected, Sleepz came in here and beat us all.

Yeah, I agree. Thing is that there are fewer missed slashes than in the currently published movie.

Hm, okay... here is my attempt for fame. I played okay until Iceman, but then I sucked with the magnet beam and gave up. I think that when I'm holding fire to charge the beam and jump, I press forward, and that breaks the two-button rule my computer has imposed. After that it goes downhill... http://133an.sytes.net/~truncated/Rockmantruncated.fcm

Okay, another Strider by Neofix. First: this wasn't played in hard mode. But to be fair, the currently published video by Dan isn't either. What should we do? Second: there are still missed slashes. There are less than before though. Dan's video also has missed slashes (more of them). Third: I think it can be improved still some, but it's more than a minute faster than the published one. I am leaning towards Yes but I'm not sure. What do you think?

>Heh, really? That's surprising. I must be getting better :P Either that or I'm losing my edge. ;) Nah, it would be kind of strange if you didn't get better as you progressed. I'm kind of surprised too that I found absolutely nothing though. Maybe I will check it again to be sure, but with sound off for the crazy candy land. That music is midly lunatizing. What do you have left to do now, hex-editing and redoing-wise? Does the things you discovered with the antigravity fields change anything in the first couple of levels? Thanks for the welcome back.
