I like this game, I enjoy your improvement, and I liked watching the input display animations. I like it when people put extra effort into putting that extra entertainment into their runs.

And I do so love it when you improve on my times. I'm glad that you're having trouble beating them, though, in the sense that it means I did a good job. I'm going to watch all you've got again, I love this game and its runs so much.

Well this sure made me want to get back to work on AD&D Pools of Radiance. A very nice game to look at and play, it seems, and you sure knew exactly what to do to get this game beat as quickly as possible. I had to read the full submission text to understand what you were doing and to better guess why, since I've never played the game, but after that, it was all good. Nice glitch, excellent planning, and very short, especially for this type of game. I give it a yes.

I didn't know I reached the end until after I was there and the way behind was blocked up! I thought I WAS exploring. I played more today, turns out there's absolutely no way in that I could find, since the cellar passage closes back up. Meh. No biggie. Eventually got through the first dungeon, with all the swimming, and it just seemed very very short. The two keys were right next to each other and the chest, and then I found the boss and killed it. I liked the idea of using the moth boss as the first boss, since, without the spikes and moving floors, he really is very easy, so it's a smart way to be different and yet have that difficulty curve.

I really like the run so far, though it seems your paths aren't perfect from time to time when you're running around. An extra step or two here or there. It's possible that there're just trainers that I'm missing, but it happened so much that I doubt it. Also, how hard would it be to just manipulate the enemy to miss? Two Rock Tombs should be fine if you can do that, I hope.

Savestates worked wonders through this. Thing is, I ended up not being able to get the boomerang, since opening the way to the church closed off the rest of the sewers. The maker of this didn't think of everything when he was designing the levels--you have to kill a guy to get a key, but only after you get a sword, and yet the four bombs you pick up in Kakariko do the trick just nicely instead. Not that it changes anything--even with all the pots lying around, you'd have to be able to refill your bombs somehow just to get out if you didn't want the sword, and that's not possible, as far as I can tell. Unless you can pick up more than 4 by reentering the place you got the bombs, I didn't think to check. But yeah. I wonder if the chest key you get for the boomerang also works on that one chest way back when in the guardtower. Also, this guy could really use having someone go through and fix all the english problems. Not that it REALLY matters, but there are just so many problems, conversation after conversation, that it just gets annoying. But from what I saw, I really like where this one is going. Hopefully there isn't too much huge backtracking like was required just to get ONE more key from the wine cellar (and then going BACK to the cellar again later) throughout the game, that's just cheap.

I tried once already, and after half an hour got absolutely nowhere with the manipulation. All I could do is change whether there was a hit or not. Damage was the same, couldn't get a critical or whatever. That was a couple months ago, and if button presses affect it, well then the game would sure be worth a second shot

I didn't mean to have the damage boost you, I meant to have them physically push you around with their bodies, or by like jumping onto them and sliding off to get a slight boost, but again it's a silly idea. The Gradius-writing thing is actually for when you're zoomed in with R and aiming with Floyd, so it's 2D, and it'll be more easily and accurately done here through that TAS input plugin, you'll just have to remember that there's a good two, three frames of lag between what you do and what actually happens.

Spelling Words: Watch the most recent Gradius run and you'll see what I mean, you can do this as well in this run (and change "Eat at Joe's" to "Eat at Juno's"...or something) Jetpaks: Sorry, they're for only the current room you're in. Rocket Jumping: Damage doesn't change your movements at all. I forget, though, can enemies push you around? If so, you can get some timesavers out of that, though slight, and at the expense of health. Unless you can really get an improvement out of it, it probably wouldn't be worth it. Cutting corners should be done, jumping included, but you don't need to start that part over just for this. You're making great progress already! Speaking of which, I'm going to watch your most recent WIP now. Huge poweroutages all over the northwest and the aftermath have kept me off the internet for a couple days so I'm behind everywhere hehe

http://www.twistedeye.net/TAS/JFG Floyd Testing - Twistedeye.m64 First, I figure out how the controls work on my keyboard. Should've done that first-- Second, I use Floyd normally. Then, I hit Fire every other frame to see how rapid he is...and rapid he is! Then it's playaround between Floyd and Juno's shots, which can only be seen in frame advance--if you're going to do that in the actual movie, you'll need to move them very slightly each frame for it to be noticable, and there's a range where Juno's direction doesn't change at all while his aim is moving, so you can keep on track.--Holding jump (C^) when targetting keeps you moving forward, strafe works the same, just so you know. I usually forgot then when playing the game...heh Later I see just how rapidfire the weapons are. I don't have all of them, though, and the homing missiles are out of ammo, but the plasma shotgun comes out a surprise winner here, being just as fast as the machine gun or Floyd's gun. Man, that TAS Input Plugin is amazing! It's so easy to work with! By the time I was halfway through making this test movie, I wasn't even using the keyboard at all anymore, other than spacebar to frame advance. I'll rewrite that text file next, brb. I'm 99% sure that the path outlined is the fastest.

I definitely enjoyed this, and I think I saw a couple glitched fatalies, eh? I have absolutely no knowledge of this game at all, but I can tell you did some things that you weren't expected to, hehe. That second Goro fight was amazing. Yes vote here.

If you'd like, I can see if I can make a test video with some Floyd action from later in the game, I think my backup save game has Floyd.

Oh, someone's going to pick this up? Awesome. The SDA run did an excellent job but with these techniques I'm not surprised you've already saved, what, almost a minute? Seriously though, if you're going to get the fastest time, you need to use Floyd. There's really no going around it. It's not just the double plasma ammo, it's also the ability to play around during the long running sequences. Zoom in with R and you have two crosshairs that can dance around each other or chase each other or write words etc. etc. while you're running running running, which you'll be doing a lot of. It'll keep the movie watchable. I'm going to check out your WIP now, looking forward to good stuff! OH and to whomever was complaining about desyncs: Uncheck Raw Data. That's the key. Make sure it stays off when you're making the run, too. --Alright, I really loved the run so far! Even with the strafing there wasn't a whole lot of "hey let's look at the wall textures repeat" and all those heads bouncing around are always fun. Pro tip: On levels that don't require you collecting the tribals, shoot them instead! Their heads come off and are collectible, though they don't give you 'cheats' every 100 collected like the bug heads do. Busting open that box for the yellow key could be done better I would hope, but I'm not going to nitty-gritty you and ruin your motivation. Losing half a second at the start of a four-hour-plus run isn't going to kill anyone. I stand by my earlier statement about Floyd. With this spiffy TAS input plugin it seems like he would be easier to control! Wish I had that back when I did my testrun with a half-broken gamecube controller... Just use the path I outlined in the text file in the first post, and do the in level parts how the SDA run does them, but in any area where you only have to kill one or two guys, it's cooler to just ignore everyone else ;) And try to never get hit, trust me, it won't be impossible. Really, with Floyd around, no one should ever even get close to you. With him you can kill two guys per input--oh I can't WAIT to watch those screens of flying enemies get decimated in a smooth pattern and in the space of a second while still walking sideways to the door. Woohoo! I don't really know if he'll help during the bosses--spamming those tri-rockets is going to be laggy enough yet strong enough--but the in-level stuff will definitely be helped. If you need any help figuring out that text file I sloppily wrote for myself or anything, I'm willing to help. I might peruse the SDA run again to think of better ways to do things but I really believe he nailed it, as far as in-level stuff is concerned. Good luck with this, you are a braver, more patient man than I could hope to be ;)

I played this exact game too much as a kid, but it was great to see all these things you can do in a TAS as well as seeing the game beat, which I've only ever done maybe once. Screwing with the hit detention was fun to watch, and you did a pretty good job keeping each day unique.

My first thought was 'augh, gray, side-scrolling practically, eeehhhh,' but you played it very well and I was very amused by the glitching in the top-down levels, so you've earned a yes here.

You didn't just beat the game as quickly as you could, you put in extra effort to make it extra entertaining, you've got to respect that! Incredible run.

Very fun little movie here! But that first level, I swear I recognize that music from somewhere, and my detective skills are making me think Phantasy Star IV. BRB.

Oh hey, old Metal Sonic's in this game. Good job on the run, though with all of the other MegaRock games on the site (especially the glitchy ones), this one was less interesting in comparison.

Lots of differing opinions so far. Mine? I thought it was a good game choice. Fast paced, good graphics, alright music, no complaints there. The run was well done and showed skill, but it definitely seems improvable. I haven't played the game myself, though, so I have some questions. Like, you were slowed down by being awarded a cheese bonus between levels at one point, but I don't remember seeing it again. What causes that? Was that only for those little spherical cheese bits and not the triangles? Because otherwise you could've grabbed at least one more triangle I think so that you could get one more time. Improvements, yeah, you can take damage at full speed in the spider webs, so you should try to make sure you do that as often as possible, manipulating luck (if possible) when able. If it's possible to manipulate the last boss's head to appear in the left hole as much as possible, that could save some frames I'm sure. I'd have to play the game myself to get other ideas. But no, this was not a bad run at all. There's nothing wrong with a short movie that does a good job on a good game! I don't know whether to vote yes or wait for an improvement, though.

Watching your movie, you seem to collect some bonuses at the end of the level that the previous author didn't. Going by level time is not how you do it, you gotta go frame by frame. In game time won't show you how many frames you gain/lost due to lag, for example. Watching both movies at the same time, you get behind pretty quickly and stay there. All in all, though, it's not a bad attempt, though I think the game itself might be a little boring. Good luck with future endeavors --your path through that flying level with the ballons and byplanes about and such was five whole time-units behind-and then there were those weird bonuses again that the previous author seemed to avoid, costing you large amounts of time. Oh and if your movie does end early, well, that's one of the easiest things to fix before submitting. You did do better in a couple parts, though, I did notice! --aahh, I think that that mysterious bonus that's killing your time is the bonus you get for having Magic hearts or whatever (on the top left) remaining when you exit a stage. The previous author took damage to intentionally lose this 'bonus' and thus save a lot of time. I think that right there was what you missed causing this large time difference. --err, that and waiting several hundred frames after you should've ended the movie! If you 'don't know when to stop recording the movie,' find it out and fix it before you submit it! Waiting all the way through the THE END screen and then starting a new game shows you weren't trying very hard at that point to give us a good movie. Try to not let kind of silliness creep into any further TASes, please, if possible.

Just to confuse the 'Fight Hour?' discussion further, I have ALWAYS thought that the voice said 'Fight On,' which to me makes more sense than any of the other sayings put forth so far, but anything is possible to be honest. I used to love playing KI, I mostly used Orchid for easy combos it seemed to me, but you've got to love TASes of fighting games using morphing characters for variety! It was different from what I expected, especially after enjoying the Fultz combo video also previously mentioned, but this movie was still rather entertaining! Turbo mode was a great idea, it made this game look even better.

heh, who wants to bet that 1337 is being 'reserved' for something special, liiike oh how about the Megaman quad-run----not that it wouldn't be deserved Loved this run by the way, fast paced and some nice glitchy action. Getting that soul orb to show the criticals was a nice touch. I'm yessing this, sir

I got the same problem, but I ran the movie anyway and there were no desyncs, so you're fine, I'm sure. Yeah, I loved the new method used to skip the refights, awesome work again
