I was making TMNT as a debute movie, but I had forgotten that the rom freezes each time you reach the boss of the fifth level. If anyone has a rom that works I think TMNT would make a nice movie. It took less than twenty minutes to get to the end of the fifth level, so the movie shouldn't be too long either (~25 minutes).

Batman and the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are two games that many have never seen an ending to. TMNT in particular was pretty tough overall. Batman has too much of a slow pace to it. With Ninja Turtles, it has a better looking flow to it, and a time attack would be pretty interesting imo. Edit - Not trying to contradict myself about Batman, but more of a comparison with that and TMNT. Those two I'd love to see above anything else outside of Zelda 2 maybe.

I know these aren't nintendo games but I would want to see if someone could do runs of Ninja Spirit, and the Splatter house series. The best time I got on Ninja Spirit with continuing is 4o minutes. Really hard since I'm playing in arcade mode.

While bisqwits site is famtasia only i want to ask anyone here who made movies with virtuanes to send me those if he wants me to post them on my site. i do not want to make any advertising here so i will not post the link right here ;) but i would appreciate if you send me your run and i will post them with your name for download. so if someone's out there who prefers virtuanes (which is better anyway :-P ) just send me your .vmv ! thanks

well, I have 5.1 (english) and could play his video just fine (could be a problem with your rom?) About speed adjusting, try turning sound off or scaling down the window size. Putting the windows occupation bar to the max also help (in the SPEED option menu).

Hi everyone. I've started making NES-movies and have some questions for those more experienced. 1) What version of Famtasia should I get? (I have 5.10, which didn't play Genisto's SMB3 movie) 2) The emulator I'm using (F5.10) freezes every 50-60 seconds for a couple of seconds and then gives the message "speed adjusting". Is there a way to tackle this?

I'm a huge fan of metroid speed runs (from the SDA, metroid2002 websites) but these take huge spaces. At least SmokeyX does his with zsnes and publish his zmv files :P (go check his 100% 0:59 run of Super Metroid)

PAL version plays faster only because Famtasia works with NTSC format... the time units are usually the same but apparently, certain stage can be faster... finally perfection has been reached... too bad...

I think you should watch my movies of Ninja Gaiden(s) in VirtuaNES at: www.geocities.com/lezard_v2/Main.html
*yawn* Color me cynical, but I'm not impressed. While your Ninja Gaiden movie was indeed quite fast, it was rather devoid of style--I prefer my "speed-run" movies to at least have the illusion of not being blatantly made with exploits, which you can't really say when you do stuff like the 15-attacks-in-one-jump you did on the two last bosses. Add to that you got hit several times when you didn't have to and didn't even save time, and took the "Rambo approach" throughout the entire game, (ie. no incidences of "artful dodging" and precision jumping through hordes of enemies, just Jump-slash whenever multiple enemies appear) made it a rather boring movie to watch. And I personally find the way you talk yourself up on your page (oh yeah this movie I made is so impressive! etc) to be rather arrogant. But that's just me.

Of course, sorry I got a little excited with that, I forgot to post the solution...!! First, let's say that Player 1 is using the keyboard and that Player 2 is using the GamePort controller (in my computer, my GamePort Joypad is Joystick1 and my USB Joypad is Joystick2). You click on Config, Key, then Pad Assignment. Then you put thew options like that: Pad1: Keyboard: Keyboard1 Joystick: NONE Ext.Pad1: Keyboard: Keyboard1 Joystick: NONE Pad2: Keyboard: Keyboard2 Joystick: Joystick1 (since I'm using the GamePort joypad) Ext.Pad2: Keyboard: Keyboard2 Joystick: Joystick1 I don't know why, but I don't have a second keyboard. But when I select Keyboard2 and Joystick1 for Player 2, it works like a charm. I don't know for the USB joypads... I think that the only thing you'd have to change is Joystick1 to Joystick2

I did 244 on world 8-3 I made it on the European version, so it plays too fast on Famtasia and I didn't play as perfect as possible four others stages (even if I can replay the 8-4)... The problem is that I don't know why I have got this time because I can't make it another time on US version at all... here is the run: http://membres.lycos.fr/aylith/hpbimg/Time%20Attack/SMB1(E)_Mr.D-4.26.fmv

I tried it now again and got frustrated in a few minutes :P That game is filled with sudden deaths! :/ pssssst you might want to check this video to refresh your memories ;) www.sunpoint.net/~segadc/bucky.wmv

Hi all, I'm new here. :) Anyhow, I'm kind of new to this "speed run movie making" thing--so far I have done two "successful" videos with Famtasia, one for Ninja Gaiden, and one for Ninja Ryukenden 2 (Ninja Gaiden 2, Japanese version) If anyone is interested in watching, here are some links: Ninja Gaiden 1 Ninja Ryukenden 2 Neither of these are "fast as possible," there are several shortcuts where taking a hit is faster, these are more oriented toward being "perfect plays" though they're not that either :p (It's literally impossible to finish Ninja Gaiden without taking a single hit against the last boss) I really want to do a Ryukenden 3 movie, but Famtasia can't run that ROM properly. I've tried making movies of it several times with other emulators (VirtuaNES, Nestopia, etc) and while they run the ROM fine, they all go horribly, horribly out of synch, and usually fairly early on in the movie as well. Also I noticed trying to play either of the "successful" movies I've made in other emulators besides Famtasia make them go out of synch as well. Does anyone know any good workarounds for this? I'd like to get my movies into an emulator that can convert to AVI, but at this rate I'll never get it done... Masakado

That's your mirror image. If I'm correct you need to fight it at one point...didn't see it in run though.

Very "cool" (get the pun...? ¬¬) game! It's a lot like Bubble Bobble, except that you go up instead of going down when you change levels.... And you throw snowballs instead of bubbles.... And you kill enemies by pushing them in their frozen state.... Anyways, you might already know it, I'm planing to *re*do it with my little brother, so it's going to be action packed!! (On the first try, we did loads of cool moves, so the second time will be even better!) We did it in 17 minutes the first time, and we plan to beat this time! 50 levels of frosty action...!!! (Press F to burn me if you've had enough of my bad puns)

Yeah... I tried to figure out some shortcuts, in vain... And the jumping system isn't the best... Anyway... And there's even some places that you have to wait for something to occur (like 2 moving platforms that aren't made for speed run, aren't synchronized) but still, I really enjoy this game and I think that's going to be an entertaining movie.
