I like this, even though the more impressive stuff isn't apparent, this movie actually appeals to me more, I have no idea why. Nice improvements, it takes quite a bit of knowledge to improve upon an already tight run. Congratulations on it being accepted and even though voting will no longer help/hurt this movie, I vote yes because it deserves it.

As far as I'm concerned, the fact was a quicker run was possible and became worth while time-wise (half of the truth of that sentence, I guess), not entirely that not switching back and forth made all the difference (although it made a large difference). That's all I meant but I guess it doesn't make much sense, this explanation that is. Ah, well, maybe I'll change it a bit.

Interesting, I believe this site already has a run like this but this one is more aggressive because of a couple of programming changes that allow you to keep the combos constant. Hmm, I don't really know how to judge this so I won't vote. Good run none the less though, it takes a keen eye to come up with combos like that (and tools since I don't see a combo of more than 400 coming about in real time but I've been wrong before).

I changed my directional buttons to:
   Up = p
 Down = ;
 Left = l
Right = '
To be able to press multiple directionals and buttons at the same time.

When you stop recording the AVI it should have sound but while recording the AVI, SNES9X mutes the sound for some unknown reason, unknown to me that is.

I haven't watched this yet, but do you know that you can get holy water + triple shot in level one? I remember back in the day when I was planning a Grant TAS, I got through the first level ~2 seconds faster (I don't know for sure, because I was comparing to a Famtasia run) with Holy Water + triple shot abuse on the first boss. The only hangup was one part. It's in the room right before the boss and after the room with all the zombies (two screens after the bridges that flip when you jump on them + medusa heads) When I got to that screen, I couldn't find an effective way to pass the second gremlin without just stopping and whipping, but even with that delay I beat the level ~2 seconds faster. Maybe I should download FCEUltra and whip up a test movie to show you...
I've thought about getting the holy water in the first level plus the III but whenever I would think it through I believed it would cost more time than it would save so I never tried it. Maybe a testrun is worth checking to see if in fact it is faster to get the holy water early. If you consider doing a testrun, go ahead and use my movie up until the point of the holy water because I believe the first level is optimized thoroughly. I can only think of a couple of instances in the Clock Tower that it would speed things up just a little (frames maybe). Maybe another 30 second improvement is possible... Nah, I can see maybe a couple seconds and that's it. Edit: From the little test I just did I found that getting the Holy Water in the first level is only 2 frames faster. Now, in my current published run and this one I just submitted, I could have completed the first level 2 frames quicker or even more if I could manipulate the zombie's directions but I didn't because it threw off the timing in the second level. What I mean is whenever I gained a frame or so I would end up losing several frames. For example: In the Clock Tower, I usually get the Holy Water and jump strike the Spearman and then use the Holy Water to get rid of him and carry on throughout the level. But if I gain a frame or two in the first level, the Spearman no longer goes down in the same amount of frames which leads me to have to wait several frames. The timing also gets thrown off in which direction and when the Medusa heads come out in the Clock Tower. Gaining a couple of frames just to lose even more frames is just not worth it unless it is a certain amount of frames then, I believe, the desired outcome (the current outcome from the published and submitted one) would wrap after a certain amount of frames gained or lossed and would work out for the best if and only if this were the case. I hope this makes sense.

This TAS proves why Pirates win. Good job. BTW, have you thought about trying to obsolete the other two Famtasia runs?
Maybe one day but for now I just want to improve on my submitted runs (I have one more to go before doing something relatively new, could be anything).

Wow, I got incredibly (unintentionally/unknowingly) lucky then, thanks for clearing that up.

I have finally taken the time to verify whether or not the Alucard route would be faster than the Sypha route for Grant. Well, with the little test run I did, comparing it to the currently published run, the Alucard route is slower by 40 seconds (comparing it to the one I just submitted, it's most likely about 80 or 90 seconds slower). Here is the Alucard Path for Grant. And Here is the Alleged Grant Path Just in case for those who are wondering what it may look like for Grant to be on another path. The test runs are relatively optimized, only frames that add up into seconds can probably be save. Also one of them will desync because they are not finished, I just go as far as when the paths sync up.

A very nice addition to TASVideos. I'm impressed, you're very first TAS is something great (while my first TAS was fairly good but a little mediocre, at least to me it was) and fresh so nice job there. The movie itself looks well optimized (I probably only played this game twice in my life and I remember very little of it). Nice job on making an entertaining movie of a relatively interesting movie. I vote yes for this.

I'll definately help with what should stay and what should go. This is really nice, I think a lot of this can be saved. The early fights should be changed a little but most of the rest is very well done when it comes to variety and can be used for the future run. Really good work so far, I cannot wait for the finished run, I would not want you to rush through this game though :)

Yeah, if I remember correctly, the guards are always there at night time but I'm not sure if that's the case here. (I don't feel like digging through this thread) What I think I read in this thread was that the guards were there regardless if it were day or night because certain events were done before visiting Zelda.

It doesn't get any better this. Those were some powerful combos as well as a lot of variety so great job in that department. It's nice that you decided to do that trick to move all the levels around so you could do stage fatalities, that was awesome and quick. Everything seemed to be perfectly placed throughout the run (The way you do certain combos and the way you ended some rounds and stuff like that). Definitely a yes vote, great job from you Xyphys.

A relatively intriguing game title this one is. The run was not bad at all, I really enjoyed it. Yes is what I vote.

This game looks pretty nice for N64. I've never played this game nor do I know what's going on. If you know what you are doing and feel it's optimized to a high point then by all means keep going. I actually haven't found this to be very interesting (the premise this game leads on) but maybe as the game progresses it gets better. I don't know.

Such a nice incentive, submitting two sonic game runs with one being the original with great improvement and the other being something different but great. I think I like this better than the original. This is great work from you JXQ.

Good stuff, this is an improvement worth noting. I never really found this Contra to be that interesting (probably because I found it too hard and never gave it much of a chance) but after watching this run my interest is a whole hell of a lot higher than it was. Besides being absolutely fast, it also holds high entertainment value so great job keeping that up there along side speed. Yes vote.

It's a test run so it really doesn't matter too much what the difficulty is except when manipulating the enemy's AI, it may be slightly different or drastically different, who knows?

Glad to see it done in such a great way. I watched every WIP so I already knew what to expect. This is very well planned, the way you used your papers and until you needed a refill. The ending was unexpected, for some reason I expected the training course to be a little empty but man that was a nice surprise. My Yes vote is your yes vote.

Clearly good combos are indeed difficult to perform so take your time and come up with the best you can offer. It looking pretty good even for a test run so far so keep it up, I'm enjoying it.

Knuckles this time around... I like it! Even though the bonuses are kind of boring it's nothing a little fast-forwarding couldn't/didn't take care of. This run offers quite a difference than the Sonic+Tails run so I judged it differently. Overall I'm surprised and happy to see such excellence with Knuckles since I was skeptical, for some reason, that a run with Knuckles wouldn't be good enough. You certainly proved me wrong. Great job on making such a good run. Yes is what I vote.

This run is of good quality for such a repetetive game, I really enjoyed seeing it done just about the best way possible when it comes down to highest possible score (at least for now, who knows what else can be accomplished in the future?). I watched a selective amount of your WIPs and who knew you'd be done so nice and quickly. This run could have been as fast as possible (even though it pretty much is) but the goal for highest score is much more intriguing, in my opinion, so I vote yes and I say good job on a run done pretty well. About this game, it's a fighting game and as I've stated before most fighting games should be given leniency; instead of being as fast as possible I think variety and showing off what the game has to offer is of more concern than as fast as possible otherwise you have the same move that gets the job done best over and over again. But in your run, your main goal is highest score so I definately understand why it's so repetetive (time bonus and classified bonus points after each round). Either way you still get my yes vote.
