I believe whatever is fastest is fine, it's only one level. What's been in this level-test is pretty passable for an optimized run but I do see where optimizations could/should be present (not that I discredit you, it's a test like you stated). So far the whole run looks great, good enough that people would be scared to even try to obselete it.

I'm receiving desyncs in Simpsons, The: Bart's Nightmare but only when fast-forwarding (I don't understand why). Also there are inconsistencies while I'm playing, I'll do the same exact input and reload a save state (doing the same input again) and it will randomly change the outcome (right now I'm on the 'Bartman' level). My movie settings are: Use WIP1 Timing (checked) Allow Left+Right / Up+Down (unchecked) Volume Envelope Height Reading (checked) Fake Mute desync workaround (checked) Sync samples with sound CPU (checked) but they weren't always those, I had on Use WIP1 Timing and Volume Envelope Height Reading originally <- Could this be my problem, changing the movie file's settings a little ways into the game? I can fast-forward through the first two levels without desyncs but I always get a desync on 'Bartman', while fast-forwarding, though (it plays through fine when I don't fast-forward). If you know why I can't fast-forward reliably then please let me know. Also I started this run on the SNES9X 1.43 V9 with reset-recording so that may also be a factor but I would be more comfortable with some reassurance.

I believe with that little demonstration someone may just be inspired enough to see what they can do (not me though, I'm only a spectator).

Hey thanks OgreSlayeR, Joe. For that I give you Another WIP. In the 'Itchy and Scratchy' level I did my best to keep it entertaining and I decided that a higher score is not what I'll shoot for, nor will I stay flawless when health comes into play (doesn't slow me down the way I'm doing it, and by this I mean I'll take damage for entertainment). on the overworld/streets, the paper is getting a little more time consuming to appear and I wait a couple of frames to manipulate what doors appear (you probably won't notice where though because it is subtle). Up next is 'Bartman' and I think I'll take quite a bit of time on this one to somehow destroy everything without slowing me down and finding the best way to destroy the bosses/minibosses. It may be a while for another WIP but I assure you this level is the only level that will take a while to do. With this said, I'll try to work as diligently as possible. Edit: Also I changed the movie files' settings because I thought I found a desync, so as a precautionary I changed it. Edit2: Okay, there definately is a desync when fast-forwarding either in Itchy and Scratchy (in the attic) which happens maybe 30% of the time (while fast-forwarding, mind you) or in Bartman which is definate (while fast-forwarding only). Hopefully everyone will be able to view this movie but it sucks that there, most likely, will be an inability to fast-forward. While fast-forwarding I am unable to pin-point the desync so I can't fix it if I don't know exactly where it is. I'll keep you posted. Edit3: Now, I expect no more desyncs because I was a fault to use Volume Envelope Height Reading (I'm not even sure what games do not desync with that option enabled) which means I have to do over a part, I believe, but it isn't too far off, I may be able to hex edit a good portion so we'll see. Edit4: With all the desyncs out of the way, I had to redo some parts but I think it still holds up pretty well in the entertainment department. There shall no longer be any cases of desyncs as far as I can tell (where have I heard this from?). Here's the Spruced up WIP2 (still ends in the same place as before but I am much more comfortable in the 'Bartman' level that I may be able to finish it later today!). Edit5: It seems if I don't kill Smithers either of the times and make him shoot all his projectiles as quick as possible I won't have to take him out, I can just let him leave which is quicker.

I don't think it would be possible unless somehow you could bypass the invincibility period, after jumping and getting hit, making it either a shorter period or not apparent at all and get hit a second time to gain an even greater height. Second thought, you would have to get hit three times at least. Bypassing invincibility is not possible, as far as I know, as well.

Okay, so I've jumped from one Simpsons game to another. YOU SAW IT COMING! Anyway, I'll definately do this one because it hasn't been done yet (as far as I know), I know it so well, and I'd rather clean up one of my mistakes (See here for more details) rather than letting some people down (how many were there, like two people?). I know maybe the fastest route which is something like this: Get all the single page levels done before the double page levels because it is increasingly harder to find the page on the overworld or, as it looks, the street. When I'm down to the last two levels, equaling four pages, use the techniques to make the pages appear magically (blowing a bubble and popping on someone's head and/or destroying that TV with a seed, whichever comes first). The double page levels are Indiana Bart and Bartzilla, as stated above, both should prove to be entertaining. I've already begun this game and I'll post a WIP HERE. It's the Bloodstream level and I believe I optimized this level to the point in which it would be frustrating to obselete it, regardless it may look sloppy, to some, but I assure you it is very difficult to manipulate that Smilin' Joe Fission guy to appear close to you. Other than this, all criticism and advice is welcome.

He may have been talking about this, how do you do this by the way? I don't think that is possible unless you are coming back. (hotlinked straight from "Sites" 'Obsolete screenshot collection').

It's indeed a different run, more traditional because of the cross being used, but I wonder if this game can be pushed any farther? I don't think it's necessary to vote since it's being published but I'm going to anyway.

I think I'm going to end this run, unfinished. I played around in the third area of the world and it is even more irritating than the previous levels (does not look entertaining). Even if I did finish I doubt it would seem good enough. With that said I might finish the run but I will not submit it officially.

Time for an Update. I have completed the second area of the World, the Icy kind of place. It may look kind of slow but this area has a lot of annoyances. When I start the first level, of the second area, the jumps I do were necessary to manipulate the ice sicles and where/when they fall (the jumps Do Not slow me down). Then I get to the part where I have to climb by jumping platform to platform. In this part I did the best I could to do it the fastest (even though it looks slow, now I know why this game may not be the best choice to TAS, Or Do I?) which you have to stop all movement, for 2 frames when you land, then move again in order to cancel out slipping. Also I jump to the best height possible and move in the opposite direction in mid-air before landing to ensure I'm in the right position. If you think this would be hell to do in real-time then you're in for a treat. Now the second level of the second area. By this time I really know why this game isn't the best to TAS. I made sure I jumped on the first possible frame and with the right height when landing on the floating platforms. There may be a couple of times in which I wait but they are for manipulating the SeaGulls' positions so that I may jump without getting hit. This level is boring and a pain in the ass but what the hell, you know?! For the boss I made sure I made short work of him and manipulating where he may come out to the best of my abilities. I think the third area of the world should prove to be a little more entertaining, hopefully, I have confidence in this run. Anyway, Here's the 'Real WIP # 2'

Nice, short, entertaining display of 'Super Dodgeball'. The opposition didn't have a damn thing on you! Yes Vote for a good movie.

The 'Guy' from "Guy Savage" (A game maybe in development or scrapped by Konami).

hmm, that is an interesting bug. A Pawn hidden as a queen, they won't expect a thing.

This game takes some many game title's elements and throws them all together to make an interesting TAS. It looked very well executed and that is why it deserves a yes vote.

I doubt it would be faster because of how expensive the Bow is.

Would another run be applicable, where Link doesn't steal or is it too minor a detail to even consider?

Seems that my fight with "Fu Manchu Burns" is more entertaining this time around but it is slower because before the last hit he decided not to lower his fan for a good sum of frames. I think I'll redo the fight and manipulate him a little better then I'll post a WIP. Edit: Okay, I have finally gotten my Internet connection back up (to a certain extent) and will now upload my "Real WIP", which is now 3 seconds faster than the WIP because I started the game up faster (by pressing A and Start at the same time on a specific frame, it allows the game to start much quicker), I optimized the first level to the best of my ability (I think?) by backward jumping when I need to jump (also by climbing at the peak of my jump), and the first boss fight (which I got incredible luck on) is quicker because he lowered his fan more frequently rather than dragging the fight on by being a jerk. I hope this "Real WIP" is more enjoyable, regardless of how similar it is of the other WIP.

Probably just testing and gauging people's reactions as to what they find is the best solution or a compromised solution, at the least.

I don't see what the big problem is. Is it blowing your mind to see most everything at once? I find either layout to be good enough.

I happen to believe it was done in real time to a certain extent if not then the whole thing was done in real time. I also did not get very far into it before I realized it could be better from the get go. It also doesn't start up right away, I suggest you read the guidelines for Movie making, it's in the FAQ.

Not the best type of game to TAS. This movie is shabbly done. There is a lot of innaccuracy, use your rerecords, that is what they are for. Regardless if there was a spectacular run of this game I doubt that it would interest many here. With this being said, I vote no and wish you to do your best next time.

I've started over and I'm ahead by several frames and since at least someone is interested that'll be my motivation, albeit not entirely. Edit: I tested out that picking up crap along the way does waste frames because it is added up at the end of an area of the world. Now with that in mind, I can finally put that factor to rest and actually get somewhere.
