I suppose I'm the opposite of most people here; to be honest, watching a movie where you just blow past everyone can be boring, because it's completely ignoring the entertainment potential of the other racers. Ultimately, what's the point? Once you've lapped a group once, it's just waiting for the race to end at that point; you don't get anything special for doing so. Last-minute comebacks are always a thrill, even when you know they're manipulated. Yes vote, for me.
...with that said, a straight run around the tracks could be entertaining, if you keep the interaction angle. For example, manipulating to get a banana or a shell and driving within a few frames of a lapped racer before releasing, or using items to knock out the "established order" to promote an underdog--you know how in Super Mario Kart, the game always has an established order of racers and gives them a burst of speed if they fall out of their order? I could see a run like that being supported, also.
Just out of curiosity; has anybody thought to e-mail Fusoya and let him know of this toolrun? I had thought to do it, but I didn't want to drive the guy nuts if somebody else had (assuming, of course, that he isn't already here among us and/or posting).
Whenever I try to play back certain movies with version .7, the program always crashes hard (sound and everything--very annoying), and I need to force-quit it. Does anyone know why this is so? Thanks.
You know, I think you're absolutely right, and that fact scares me--that such a glitched-out...mess as this only has one solution, and Genisto has found it.
Personally, I think this is actually supposed to tell a story; look at the "intro text", and consider it--the author is moving through different "stages" of Air, doing things that defy how normal Mario is played, objects in weird and obtuse locations, having to get power-ups to get through an area before returning to a vunerable state again, and the "ending"--it doesn't end! It's like some horrible neverending cycle.
...I sound like a postmodern art critic. Quick, someone slap me!
Ok, finished watching. A definite "yes" vote from me, but please, PLEASE make sure you download the X1 1.1 ROM. Otherwise, it desyncs during Spark Mandrill's fight.
That reminds me of a commercial from the 80's/90's where a woman is told the resturant she's at doesn't have any Pop-Tarts (yes, I know) her face turns into an angry claymation thing, yelling "I WANT MY POP-TARTS!" Does anyone remember that?
I found a a site that has a huge collection of commercials for video games, such as the Japanese ad for Super Mario Bros. 3, or the first American Legend of Zelda spot (the one with the rap).
So, check it out...below. Enjoy?
(Thanks, NrgSpoon)
Ah, well that's lovely. Thanks for the effort, 4matsy, Bisqwit. I guess this thread can either be locked, left as-is, or stickeyed, in case anyone else hears this rumor.
Apparently, this secret was "found" by a David Victor Gehrke--an attempt to look up that with the Minus World relation only leads to the Wikipedia information that started this thread, and "David Victor Gehrke" only leads to a review of a fitness book on Amazon.
So, is this a hoax?
If you had figured out a way to play as the Washington Generals and shut down the Globetrotters, I'd watch that movie again and again...
...in any case, we've already had this kind of situation with Tecmo Super Bowl and the boredom that movie caused; Arc, the creator, then made another version which used luck manipulation to keep the scores close, and made a more exciting movie to watch. Why not do something like that, if sports games interest you?
I'm sure that most of you, if not all, have heard of the infamous "Minus World" glitch in Super Mario Brothers. Specifically, I'm referring to the loop that occurs in the NES version once the exit pipe is reached, returning you to the beginning of the level.
It's confirmed (though not recorded) that it is possible to escape the world through killing yourself by running into a Bloober and a Cheep Cheep at the same time, which can occur near the end pipe. Would someone be willing to test and see if this is true? I've never been able to get in there...
(...by "test", I mean "make a recording of".) Thank you.
[Edit by Bisqwit: Added "SMB" to thread title.]
Would it be worthwhile to manipulate the Pink Puffs to quickly get five tails? Even if you plan on manipulating everything, there's still the Behemoths with their powerful attacks that you can't escape from; you've going to need good protection, especially at such a low level...
