Okay! This second WIP ends after 4-4 in 1985-A, in the rooftop scene where Marty defeats Biff by...jumping on his head and shocking him. Yes. Are people able to get this working alright?

Defintely. I was actually considering this myself, and I know the first-person shooter levels would be fun to see. Go for it. One technique you might want to consider is the "quick draw"--always have your fist equipped, and wait until the very last second to switch to the gun and shoot. It doesn't do anything; it's just for aestetic purposes.

Unfortunately, the rules here state that a game can't be resumed from a save point for a movie, and NG+ equals that. So, even if Saturn was insane enough to do all that, it wouldn't be accepted. What would be nice to see for a 100% run, though, is seeing all forms of Spekkio defeated, from the little frog, all the way to the red Nu. HEY, PUNK! ARE YOU TOUGH E NUFF?!?!

For those who remember the old Sierra text adventures of the 1980's, this might interest you--a private group has remade the first two King's Quest games in VGA format, like KQ's 5/6. They have new digital music and voice support, new puzzles (and re-arranging of the old ones), and generally an entirely new feel to them, although those who've played the old ones should feel comfortable. So, go check it out, if you're inclined. (Oh, they're also working on a remake for Quest for Glory 2: Trial by Fire. All games are for Windows alone.)

Personally, I'm just wating for Megaman Legends 3, which will be worked on as soon as Capcom vs. Soup is finished, I'm sure...

Here comes another BTTF game (released in Japan only)--one that remarkably isn't as removed from the movie subject matter as the two NES ones (although it has to deviate for the sake of amusement). As usual, you control Marty, this time, continually on his hoverboard, as he "skates" and bounces off enemies and bosses in 2015, 1985-A, and 1955. If nothing else, it's at least faster-paced than the other ones. This movie ends after 2-2, to give people a sense of the gameplay, and whether any interest is present. The ROM is "Super Back to the Future II (J)". Edit: Fixed the desyncing problem while still trying to keep it interesting--"wobbling" seems to mess it up for some reason.

Ah...thank you for the compliment, and the correction. Yes, I did use a dictionary of sorts--I didn't have a hardcopy at hand, you see, and I don't speak the language. Ok, so with that in mind, it goes something like this: (1P) T: It looks like those thugs are at it again, just like the Gestapo... (2P) T: Well, Duponten, which innocent music-loving folk are you going after today? D: Innocent! Not in the eyes of the music industry, or the APB! (3P) T: Is the private citizen with his music really doing that much harm to the corporations? D: Hmph! The industry needs every last dollar to continue putting out bad music, you know... (4P) (Soon, at an apartment near you...) (5P) H: Out, you brood of vipers! T: Captain, control yourself! (6P) H: You see? A little force and the APB backs off! Now, a bottle of rum to celebrate! T: But Captain, you're depriving people of their bad music! (7P--shouted downstairs) H: You're only after me because the music industry wants everyone's last cent! You're their puppets! (8P) H: The APB won't find my fileserver with the pirated songs, anyway. Bwahahaha! (10P) DP: It's a dirty job, this... D: Remember, whether new Britney albums are made or not rests on our shoulders... (11P) T: There's a network cable here--perhaps at the end is his fileserver. DP: Ah, yes... D: Smart lad. (12P) H: Blistering barnacles, you antipiraters again?! I'm getting a wireless server.

Good, fast movie, as always. However, in light of what people are saying about the Battletoads run, should "all endings" runs be considered for this game? By "all endings", I mean all results which would lead to a different ending (therefore, getting Weird Ed or Green Tentacle to help doesn't count): *Calling the Meteor Police, hitting the switch. (Already done, obviously.) *Put the Meteor in the Edsel and start it. (Excellent, also done.) *Start the Edsel beforehand, feed the Meteor to the Plant. *Retype the Manuscript/send it in, give it to the Meteor. *Kill one of the kids and proceed as usual (fastest way would be drowning in the pool, then getting the items from their grave).

Here's something I found that should amuse you--a "walkthrough" (with pictures!) guiding and displaying the "tactical espionage crazyness" of Metal Gear: Solid Snake. (Warning for mild cursing/sexual references.

  • Hyperzone (SNES) Wait, what would be "silly" about that? I mean, considering it's fixed-rail, it would be nothing more than a fast walkthrough (and not even that fast, considering), but I think shooting every enemy that comes up and upgrading as fast as possible would be cool to see.

Also, I think a good idea (if you still can) is to make a save state after you get blown from the volcano and land on the giant leaf, going to the next land, to be included with your WIP, and do the same for each transition to the next land, so people don't always have to watch the whole thing to see new stuff. Also, is the 99 Spice/Rice secret in the desert worth going after to save money and reveal a secret, or would that take too much time to do?

It's alright now; it had something to do with a spyware blocker I had. Thanks for the advice, though.

(Let's see if my translator holds out, here...also, I'm going to embellish a bit for the English speakers.) Okay, it's Tintin meets the Thompsons working for the APB. First panel I'm not sure about with the accent marks, but Tintin's noting the Gestapo-like tactics of the APB. (Second Panel) Dupont: We of the APB work to defend the interests of the rich media conglomerates! Tintin: I see, Duponts. So, which innocent music-loving citizen will you gang up on today? (Third Panel) Tintin: How much harm could the private citizen be doing? Don't the companies make a lot of money anyway? Dupont: Bah! It costs a lot of money to make bad music, you know... (Fourth Panel--(Soon), at a (law unit?) near you...) (Fifth Panel (Assumed one of Haddock's "curses"--substituting) Haddock: Purple profiteering jellyfish! Gangsters! Get out of here! Tintin: Captain, calm down! (Sixth Panel) Haddock: At last, victory! The APB has backed off! Now, for a bottle of rum! Tintin: But Captain, think of all the (proper?) music we've lost! (Seventh Panel, shouted at the Duponts) Haddock: You're just a puppet of the big corporations that want to snatch everyone's last dollar! (Eighth Panel) Haddock: The APB will never find my fileserver with the pirated images, either. Harharhar! (Tenth Panel) Dupond: It's a dirty job, this... Dupont: (Unsure translation) (Eleventh Panel) Tintin: Perhaps it would help you if you found his fileserver. Dupont: Smart... Dupond: Brilliant... (Twelfth Panel) Haddock: You're back again?! Bombs, grenades, antipirate groups--it doesn't matter! They all get (something). Besides this, here's some Tintin information.

Very interesting idea here, but when I try to download it from your site I get a "security alert" saying I'm not allowed to download it; using GetRight to attempt it yields nothing as well. Is there another location I can find this?

Well, for personal reasons I've decided to give up on this movie. I hope somebody else sees it and is inspired--this would be a good two-player movie to watch.

There is one thing to note here, Saturn: There is a common objection among the "regular gaming community" to many toolruns, mainly because they feel the same effort could be done on a regular console with the additional tools (save-states, slowing down, and the like). To silence those critics, Bisqwit insists that whenever possible, a movie of a game should be made on the highest possible difficulty level, in order to show that these runs are truly of a different quality. Your run may not be accepted if you insist on playing "Easy" or "Medium" mode, no matter how impressive it looks.

Well, I'm glad to see the first true Sim City run submitted, in any case. However, the others are right--this can be done faster and more efficently with save-states, slowdown, and re-records, and stacking. I do like your building method, however, and I hope you decide to do another run, with either this or something else. Meh. (I did enjoy the switching between views to add variety. The fact that you planned something like this out, given the unpredictable way population tends to fall after awhile, shows a lot of forethought, as well.)

I'd like to see a Jerry Boy run, personally--since we all we ever saw was the cut down Smart Ball, it be nice to see the true version, even in Japanese (and yes, I have played the translated version).

I'm sure a lot of people remember this game from their youth, and not fondly. The level designs were shoddy and uninspired, with a thin relation to the movie--moreover, the levels themselves were difficult and oftentimes arbitrary, leaving myself and others to to struggle, over and over, until the return date (or finish it out of spite, if they owned it). Today, spoonshiro has driven a stake into the cold, black heart of Back to the Future for all to see, and should be aknowledged for such. A yes vote, from me.

Agreed, especially since Marathon had, y'know, a plot (a good one). And a very creepy environment, at times. And enemies which could really make you jump if you weren't prepared (back when I was young and had this game, I used a map editor to erase the Wasps from any level that had them--those things creeped me out). But the trilogy is apparently open source. Which means that you can download Marathon 2 or Infinity for the Mac or PC. As well as the original Marathon . And install it.

This is still in beta, so most likely not--just the standard LEGO pieces.
