Because of Knuckles’ lower jump strength, that’s not possible for him, but in CPZ1 you can start running left from the second slope instead of the first one, and you will get enough speed. As you can see, it’s already in the published run.

Also, I’d love if you kept Aglar’s dance in Sky Chase zone. It became classic even before that run :)

Zurggriff, It would really be nice if you could work on Sonic 2 TAS improvement, just because there are not so many Aglar-like Sonic TASers, and you seem to be the only one who is currently active. So, as Evil_3D says, if you really go on, you are the right person for it, and the run is in good hands.

:) keep in mind that Aglar’s runs are always optimized to a level nearly impossible to match even after years of practice, so, it’s absolutely no problem if your runs are objectively worse.

Oh, now I finally got it, that makes sense, thanks. I would not ban level-wrap in this case, because it would not affect the entertainment, and even look fun.

I suppose you will be performing level-wrap in the very beginning of the stage, to reach some point faster while being inside the terrain after act 1 boss? In this case, it can actually be useless, because if you zip right directly, the camera will start moving right earlier. So, it’s useless unless you want to level-wrap to some far position. But I have no idea why need to do it, because you’ll still have to go back to collect rings anyway.

For me Sandopolis 2 is always the longest and the hardest part of the whole game, and as a TASer who spent a lot of time TASing this stage, I am really impressed by your testrun. It probably needs some optimization, but I know that Evil_3D is already so good at it. Keep up your work, guys!

I’ve found a very quick level-wrap for the first act of the first zone of Sonic Zeta Overdrive. Enjoy: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1185748791/Sonic%20Zeta%20Overdrive.gmv Beats this yesterday’s TAS by 11 seconds without turning super :) (upd) fun fact is that I still messed up, as there is a faster way to boost than a spindash. Damn, lazy me :( Anyway, it’s absolutely not easy to optimize, because the flying time is quite long, and it’s hard to predict the result of having higher speed / flying longer or having lower speed / flying shorter. It probably needs deep mathematical calculation, which is beyond my knowledge.

[<>] is also useful in stages like DEZ1, when Sonic starts entering the viewport from the left, there is one special frame when the game accepts D-pad input, and pressing [<>] gives Sonic slightly more horizontal speed in the beginning of the stage.

Yeah, I didn’t make proper camera management, that was kind of intentional — I only tried to see what kind of result I can get. I’m surprised how much you saved by an extra spindash, and yeah, now it’s worth trying to do it in 0:24. Thank you once again.

The next act has some moving objects with their frame rules, which can make you a huge problem to avoid/pass them. In my runs, I always put that in the description — usually you have to waste some time between the acts to get the best timer value before the second act, so the moving objects are in “good” positions. The same applies to some other stages — Flying Battery is another example.
