The invincibility music is okay; the LBZ1 run itself is extremely intense, that’s crazy, I love how it’s done. IMO you may continue, don’t worry about the music.

Thank you! I’ve checked it out, the route is similar to mine, but yeah, it is more straight-forward and thus looks more reasonable. I’ll do an optimized version of it soon, and tell you guys the result. (upd) I got 0:45.21 in my testrun, here it is: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1984714923/anypercent-speedrun.gmv I will probably improve it later, thank you once again for showing me this route, it’s already 6 in-game time units faster than the current published version, which is already impressive :)

I’ve improved Hydrocity 2 (Amy@S3K) by 1 frame today. The work is slow, but at least every single act is improved to date :) Still working on MGZ though. Sandopolis 1 will get a HUGE shortcut thanks to Evil_3D’s discovery. Sandopolis 2 will probably also be improved, as I also found some shortcuts, hopefully the moving objects with their frame rules will not ruin the improvement. (upd) this is a testrun of MGZ, up to the boss (I am still not sure if it’s possible or not to enter the boss room without the speed boots). It’s about 2 seconds faster than the current published version and uses a totally different route. I’m still not sure if this route is good enough, this zone is like a huge labyrinth.

Had a similar problem when resyncing Sandopolis zone in my Amy@S3K currently published TAS, you can notice some weird moves between act1 and act2, which actually are subpixel alignment. I managed to make act 2 to sync almost to the end (which was enough for me) by bringing the X subpixel value to exactly the same as before, and Y subpixels to be +/- 2. Anyway, now I know new shortcuts for both Sandopolis acts, so, this run is on my TODO list to improve it.

I’m deadly tired from those people always reminding us of BizHawk. BizHawk does not have Sonic TAS tools of any kind, moreover, it’s not usable at all, because at least me&marzojr use Linux. Do what you want, feel free to proclaim Gens outdated and stop accepting gmvs, it will not make us switch to software which is absolutely useless in it’s current state. Also a Linux user, btw.

I always find it fun how Sonic 3 is generally easier to TAS than Sonic 1 or especially than Sonic 2. Some things in this game even look like backdoors for TASers, like small pieces of floor where the floor is thin enough to glitch through it; and the overall changes like easier braking, ability to spindash instantly after lading (as Knuckles) as so on. Really, this looks like someone already knew about TAS at that time!

TheYogWog, I think one of the reasons of you being slower is that you stay still on ground too much when the camera is scrolling vertically, it moves a lot faster when you are in air. It makes sense to land onto the ground closer to the moment when the object begins interacting with you.

Well, actually, I informed the artist that we were not going to use the art in the video encode. I wouldn’t like to disturb her with this subject again. I suggest the encoder add the image himself if this gets accepted for publication. He/she can write “Art by SiD” to link to the author.

Actually, the speed should be over 4096, but as it’s deadly hard to perform HU at speeds 4096-4300 and usually requires explicit calculations (or positioning before taking boost), ~4300 is usually considered the minimum by most TASers. You can see HU done at a lower speed in my currently published Amy@S3K TAS (which we are working on to improve) — FBZ1. Another example is the rejected submission of Sonic Boom.
