I have no idea who is this YouTube guy with 0 subscribers, but his only video makes me feel he’s just like mike89 or wersterlobe at realtime speedrunning… Link to video

Why not just to enable avatar upload feature? TASvideos doesn’t have millions of users.

In my personal opinion, the level wrap is harder. First, you loose some horizontal speed when running on ground (because you should not touch the D-pad to not get affected by the GSC). Second, after successful level-wrap you need to glitch through the boss room’s ceiling. In order to do it, you have to skip Y pixels between 1265 and 1282 (according to Aglar’s calculation). Y-alignment can generally be done by varying jump height and Y-subpixel position before the jump. Fortunately, in this particular place it is enough to adjust Y subpixels and then perform a full height jump. The only problem will be how to get into the area to the left from the boss (because otherwise you stuck). To do it, you should be pressing left while falling, and hope that your X pixel position goes -1 at exactly needed moment. It’s very easy to do in a TAS, but, of course, there is not 100% probability of doing it successfully in a realtime run.

Digital ICs are really fun; and tonigh I finally succeeded to build digital clock using 4 simple ICs. It was not easy to build it on a breadboard — first, CMOS based ICs are very sensitive to noise, second, it’s easy to mess up the things on the breadboard. But now it is working, I am happy. Next steps will be developing the PCB for this project and maybe implement alarm clock (for example by adding this wonderful IC). I will have to try fitting all connections on single PCB layer, because I never created 2-sided PCBs, but I’m afraid this is too complex for a single layer. Link to video Instead of a quartz oscillator, I used a capacitor for testing purposes. Also you can notice absense of decimal points and counter of seconds. I did not connect them to have less wires… Yes, I know this can be done using DS1307 and attiny, maybe next time… ;)

Yeah, the purpose of that single press is proper alignment. 16 pixels = 4096 subpixels. So, if your speed is 4096+m subpixels per frame, the probability of having the trick done is m/4096. Which is high enough only if the speed is greatly more than 4096. However, there are some other factors affecting your success, which can make the probability higher. First, I beleive, there is a const maximum speed that you can gain there. Second, the speed after the jump cannot be affected by pressing d-pad keys. Third, there can be a point on the wheel, giving you quite consistent result (with the maximum speed). Amyway, I cannot be sure — I am a tool-assisted speedrunner, and I addicted to having full control of the situation — if I fail, I just redo until success… So I doubt I can really help you. The best people to ask are Tee-N-Tee, mike89, wersterlobe, Fuzzerd… I’m sure they have their own technic of doing certain tricks… Because all these digits and subpixels are interesting only when you are making a TAS, but they mean nothing when you are playing with your controller… (upd) I just realized that my logics were wrong; I am not good at all these calculations, as I completely forgot everything about probability calculations excepting that it cannot be >1

Scratch that, I've figured out most of that. Now my only questions are how to perform the SB2 wrap (from spinning around on the wheel) and the subpixels required for it.
That particular trick is based on skipping the 16-pixel-wide wall between X=506 and X=522, which means that your X pixel position should not appear within this range. Thus, more speed you have — more chances to have this trick done.

It’s a pity that there is no wiki page about this game. Are there any Lua scripts for this game already available? Any explainations of the tricks other than the submission message? Any RAM addresses already known?

A couple of photos of my another just-for-fun project — a power source for powering a small luminescent lamp from a 12V battery. Built mostly to not forget soldering :) The video of the device working will soon be on my Youtube channel.

Well, in Russia for some reason it’s kind of stereotype for everyone to beleive he is living in poverty (it is probably result of the politic ideology of the first half of 20th century, when any person with too much money and power was considered an enemy of the nation and “poor” was almost a synonym for “good”, “conscientious”). But when I’m realizing I have at least 3 computers at home (not counting separate parts using which I can compose another one if I really want), my living area itself is almost 100m² (not counting the owned land, of course), and I drink coffee like Kopi Luwak every day, I understand that it’s not exactly true. I also used to meet with the real poverty a few times, and I certainly can say it’s terrible. I can let myself having hobbies like TASing, electronics, web backend development and so on; those people, however, can maybe let themselves play in mud — and only if they live in an area where there is enough water. However, I would lie if I claimed I never thought of making money by TASing. And the only reason making me think so is obvious — great time consumption. It is real that sometimes TASing affected my job quality (by the way, I am jobless right at the moment, though I take some freelance tasks) as well as it often didn’t let me sleep enough… So… I can understand what TheYogWog is meaning. And sometimes I want someone to beat some of my best movies — just to know he experiences the price of that result.

There is 8 megabyte limitation. Is your TAS really that long, or you are trying to upload something wrong?

I’m surprised that the in-game timer is still ticking after the princess was saved, does it mean it’s possible to die after saving her?

You can always force your Y-subpixels to certain value from a Lua script if you need to perform some kind of research. At least this is how I do it myself, when I need to analyze possibilities of doing certain trick before starting to do in in real TAS.
memory.writebyte(0xFFD00E, 255)
Using this way, you can find which range of Y-subpixel values give you ability to perform certain trick (and even do it automatically, if you can write a condition which is true, if your trick succeeded, and false otherwise).

You are a bit predictable :) In fact, I intentionally named the files that way. By the way, I have no problem with that soldering station, no idea what you mean. And thanks, it’s really fun to experiment with the tube (as well as other stuff from 60s–70s), though it seems to have bad emission — as it’s taken from an old TV.
