Act 2 of Angel Island or what? As far as I know, there isn’t a way to die. You should try entering the ground by rolling under the monitor, as it’s often done between Lava Reefs and see if you can skip those rings this way, but I beleive that the terrain there does not allow the mentioned trick. Even Tails cannot enter the floor that way there. (upd) copying my previous question to the new page: guys, just asking you to check if you know this thing or not. Guys, just asking you to check if you know this thing or not. When me and feeuzz recorded our improvement of Qwerty’s TAS, I’ve noticed one very minor thing that I could not explain: when the character is moving in rolling state and hits an object in front of him (spikes, for example), sometimes his state changes to normal instantly, but sometimes it takes 1 more frame. It makes it possible to loose a few frames this way in complex levels. Do you know what’s causing it, and how to avoid it?

Okay, 24 hours without water and electricity; 3 full days without network. I have to buy batteries and charge my mobile from them to stay online; and have to use rain water. Never could imagine such a crap could happen... stay tuned, friends %) Upd: 48 hours without the electricity so far. The mobile networks are working very bad, I beleive, because the power outage affected many base stations. Food shops became a bad place because of the smell inside. Same was inside of my fridge, but I already thrown everything out. One good thing to date: water has been recovered. Upd: after 57 hours, the electricity is finally back, now to wait for my ADSL to be recovered… One death has been reported.

Okay, I've just "visited" the outside. A lot of broken trees, one of which fell just in front of me, and this crap is continuing. Now I realize why I have no electricity (except in batteries lol), the destructions are really impressive.

Great! After the network failure, I got an electricity outage as another result of the extremely bad weather conditions during last 3 days. I am signing off to save my mobile's energy, I'll tell more about the current weather here when I get back my network and electricity. Oh, and water, even it is absent -_-

Crap, i have so much to tell marzojr right now, but my ADSL has been down for 2 full days, and still not working. And for some reason sendibg private messages became a pain, I loose my session every time i send a message.

Same here, I was trying to do a level-wrap there, but I died every time. I even tried (just for experiment) to perform horizontal underflow with slope angle = +8, allowing me to get slightly higher Y position while the camera is scrolling, but it seems to be useless…

The glitch which we abused to improve Tails run, can be (in theory) used to improve the currently published Sonic run by Tee-N-Tee, as I tested it for Sonic and found it possible to glitch through that floor-ceiling for him. However, setting up the zip itself needs some precise work which I am really lazy to do (I have other things to do in Qwerty’s WIP), and thus I cannot say whether this trick will save time. But even if it will, the gainings will not exceed some frames. (upd) as I’ve found out, Tee-N-Tee was aware of the mentioned trick (and even performed it in real time), thus, I beleive, abusing it would not save time.

Loops are probably the most wonderful parts of all Sonic games — so many values of slope angle in the same place — taking a boost there is like playing roulette (unless you can calculate it explicitly). The main thing that helps me in optimizing the loops is the experience of the previous attempts — it gives the lower bound of the speed which can be gained. But it remains the problem that the upper bound is not known. :(

Okay, I’m ahead of Aglar, but it’s so damn hard that I still cannot promise anything — enough to say that on 4th second of the time I was only 1 subpixel ahead. At this moment I am ahead slightly more than 10 pixels, which should be already enough for 1 frame improvement, but you’ll have to help me if my optimizing skill ends earlier than the level itself… (upd) 4 frames ahead on the checkpost

Does TASvideos have API? I want to fetch the score of certain players within a script, but I don’t want to deal with parsing the HTML, which can suddenly change. Would be nice to be able to fetch such data (preferrably JSON or XML encoded) in REST manner. Also I wouldn’t like to generate much parasite load by fetching huge sets of pages.
