I guess he thinks if he steals less known runs, we would not notice it… I’d be happy to steal some of his runs and post on my Youtube page as «TAS by WST», but I wonder if there is at least one TAS really made by him, and if there even was, I would be ashame to feature so bad TAS as mine. I wonder how he writes comments like this one (be sure to read it) and then pretends like he made some TASes himself. By the way, now he steals not only Sonic TASes. Masterjun’s IWBTG WIP now has been stolen as well.

My mistake, I have not tried this route. By the way, thanks for the gmv — now I see that it may be possible to beat this level with Amy+Tails exactly the same way as this gmv shows. Not fastest?.. Do you want to say that you’ve somehow managed to enter the wall by catching Sonic with Tails while falling and entering the wall from the corner at (X: 390, Y: 1004)? Apologies for an attempt to guess (I remember that you asked me to stay silent), but if you want my brain to explode, you have to give it a chance to escape ;)

I don't know, i just did this because i had nothing to do. BTW the Sonic & Knuckles WIP is hard to TAS, but i will finish it and i will tell you that this TAS is finished a month ago :)
Sonic & Knuckles is mostly just a part of S3K. Marzojr and Aglar are working on it together right now, and as a person who knows a bit more about their WIP than the others, I can certainly say that your S&K TAS will probably not be accepted. Not only because it will certainly be slower (their run abuses many tricks that you probably do not know and I am not permitted to share), but also because it features almost the same game, same levels… Instead, you’d better focus on the runs which you actually can improve, like JXQ’s Knuckles in Sonic 1 TAS, or marzojr’s Tails in Sonic 1 TAS. It’s probably a lot easier and more productive to improve them instead of TASing the game which is already being TASed by Aglar & marzojr… That was just my personal opinion. Sorry for off topic.

It seems that even Hyper Sonic is not fast enough to reach the good Y position after the horizontal underflow in Hydrocity 1. However, it’s possible to zip again and enter the boss room from backwards. Recorded this just for fun. Enjoy. Link to video

Yep, Python (as well as Ruby) is a good choice, especially considering the fact that you can use things like PyQt or PyGTK to create cross-platform GUI applications with ease. The same words can be said about web applications — there is Django for them. But I’d recommend you not to give up with pure C as well — such kind of knowledge may certainly become useful for you someday. For example, if you have to deal with microcontrollers, you’ll be able to write your firmware in C language. Speaking of choice of the coding language, I can also recommend you trying Vala. It’s similar to C#, but it gets compiled into native machine code through source-to-source compiling into pure C.

One more real-time speedrunner applying his skills to the TAS scene. :) I am really glad to see your run on the bench. You probably know me on Youtube as sylabulus. I never commented on your channel, but saw most of your recent realtime runs. The fact that your run beats Aglar&marzojr’s TAS, and that in some levels you managed to get improvements from pure precision improvements, makes me really admire at the job you’ve done. I’m not afraid of to claim that I have to give this submission the strongest Yes I ever gave. I also love the brilliant level endings which remind me of Aglar’s S2 TAS. (upd) I suggest frame 31866 as the screenshot :)

When you underflow your player’s X position, the camera starts moving forward to reach the player, with the horizontal speed of 6144 subpixels per frame. As you probably know, boss scene is one of the things triggered by certain camera position. So, after you underflow your X coordinate, your next task is usually to take certain Y position which will allow camera to pass the boss room. When the camera reaches boss room, the screen will be locked. When the screen gets locked, your X position is adjusted to get inside the screen lock. Under some conditions horizontal underflow may be useless. A good example is Hydrocity 1, where it’s quite easy to pull off horizontal underflow, but impossible to take proper Y position quick enough to do the level wrap.

Well, it seems to me that the fifth bit (from the left) of the mentioned byte certainly indicates that Sonic is ducking. Even more — it seems that the entire byte’s value may be only 8 when Sonic is ducking. Would be pleased if someone more experienced at this corrected me, if I am wrong. The fact that ducking is so easy to detect makes it easy to write, for example, a script for finding the best possible input for faster on-slope braking (which should not take much time, considering my previous experience with brute-forcing slope glitch), and so should be handy. (upd) Aglar, feeuzz found out that you often abuse slope to brake even faster than usual. For example, when your speed is ~360, and the slope angle is +4, you press [<>] to get speed exactly 128, and (what a surprise, lol) the slope angle on the next pixel is 0, which allows you to start charging spin dash. How do you manage to find those tiny things like that small slope, and realize how to manage the speed? Asking because the best thing I can do on a slope is try and fail (sometimes complete brute-force), but that tiny border between 2 pixels where the slope angle changes from +4 to 0, it’s impressive how you found that… I tried to play with NumLock enabled, but it’s hard to notice such things there.
