If think you should decide whether to take a ring monitor or not, depending on which is faster in your situation. You don't have to collect all the monitors, but shouldn't go slower because of them.

If you cannot find significant mistakes in some levels, you should be able to beat them by pure optimization - better positioning, better braking (making X speed 128 without having to make it below 128 and press [<>])

As far as I know, Felipe was the one who worked on this project. And don't forget about the crisis of Sonic TAS world. Almost no activity anymore... If you are serious about the project, think of the level of optimization that you are going to reach. Considering the fact that this run has almost no chance to be accepted, it does not make sense to fight for every single frame. I would suggest you a much easier goal - beat Felipe's times. It's more than enough to get your run appreciated by public.

The gravity glitch there has been known for long time. I shown it in one of my glitchfests (and also doubt that I was the first to discover it). It is based on common knowledge that when Tails breaks the object Sonic is staying on, his «stays on object» flag is not unset, and Sonic keeps behaving like if he interacted with the object. The horizontal underflow there is also known (at least I remember myself performing it there). However, there is still a possibility that the time may be heavilly improved and this trick will be not so useless… :)

Memory corruption related glitches are usually so random that it may be nearly impossible to repeat it as it’s shown there, even in a TAS. This guy becomes boring. He steals TASes and claims that they are made by him. It’s clearly visible, even without watching the original runs, that those TASes are so different in terms of optimization level, that they cannot come from one person. Also he suggested me a battle, I should send my TAS to him, and he would give me points, depending on how fast my run is… Does he really think that he has enough knowledge to rate TASes, if he uploads very well and very poorly made runs alltogether?

To preserve speed while jumping in oil, you should hit ceiling 3. Running does not decelerate you, while rolling does. You should try to get into running state where possible. Sometimes it’s possible to turn runnning by jumping and hitting the ceiling, but if you are too high and rolling, you’ll not jump 4. Extreme precision on the slopes in OOZ1 may give you so great speed that you’ll be able to glitch through the wall in front of you

The best way to understand how the things are done, is to watch some existing run using frame advance. Start your Gens (with the camera hack), open the gmv and watch the run very slowly and carefully by pressing frame advance key to advance further and further. Camera hack is very important part of your success — without it you are not able to see yourself while being offscreen. Finding the best frame to start moving basically is all about try-and-fail. And yes, as you may have noticed, TASing Sonic games involves a LOT of knowledge. You should know about subpixels, camera bevavior, speed cap, wall and sprite ejection. And the best way to learn it is watching and trying to do the same. This page may also help you, as well as this topic.

In GHZ act 2 you have to make your Y-pixel position high enough in order not to die. It's the most easy to do with Knuckles, because he can abuse gravity glitch and remain in air after the horizontal underflow, as it's shown in Qwerty's run. When using a character that cannot abuse gravity glitch, like Sonic, you have to enter the tube (while being off screen) and then find the best frame to start moving right. Note that you may get killed by lower level boundary there (this is what probably happens with you). To be able to see your exact pixel and subpixel position, use RAM watch. To be able too see yourself when being offscreen, use camera hack.

Hmm, yeah, would be nice to play as Amy in SCH, but the fact that the developer is marzojr (not E-122-Psi), may mean that Amy’s abilities in SCH will heavilly differ from those I addicted to. Did he ever say that he would give her the same abilities as E-122-Psi? :) But, of course, my wish is to preserve abilities, and I told marzojr my wish.

I am not much interested in Sonic Classic Heroes myself (I would enjoy a TAS of it made by someone else), I prefer focusing on hacks featuring Amy. Btw, should we consider hacks like Pana Der Hejhog or Sonic the Hedgehog Tribute good or bad? They are very short, but they feature exceptional quality of visual art… I beleive, it’s a rare case when romhackers make the game look even more beautiful than Sega did.
