Hmm try to compile it with -g gcc’s flag (and do not strip the executable) and run in gdb session. Then after crash you can make “bt full” and get traceback that may help you to debug the issue…

Я делаю методом тыка, как уже было сказано выше, находя таким образом первый кадр, на котором игра начинает воспринимать нажатие. Быстрее всего искать не кадр за кадром, а как бы дихотомией — брать примерно средний кадр между «рабочим» и «не рабочим» и, в зависимости от того, воспринято или не воспринято нажатие, пробовать уже середину левого или правого (относительно только что попробованного нажатия) куска.
А если так уж сильно нужен редактор, скачай этот. Из недостатков — неработоспособность в mono, но для тебя это вряд ли существенно.

Yes, if I press start 1 frame earlier, it does not work. However, I do not really care about real time (as you can see in the ends of the levels) since the purpose of this run is some practice. And also you could notice that ARZ2 was made extremely inaccurate, as I said, I had only about 50 rerecords (from the total of 6218 rerecords at this moment) in that level ^^.
One of the useful things with Amy in this hack is that she can stop momentally from any speed, like Knuckles, and immediately do spin dash. I suggest you to try it yourself, it’s a really wonderful hack. Also she has 2 different types of jump (B/C and down+A) and fast movement down from the air (down+A too).

Мне иногда не хватает возможности забиндить на какую-нибудь горячую клавишу определённую последовательность нажатий кнопок джойстика… Ковырять АПИ не хочу, было бы куда удобнее, если бы был редактор паттернов или что-то по типу него.

My “just for fun” run. Not completely optimized, but maybe someday I will redo some parts which can be done faster (using less spindash velocity or jumping earlier, or making one more spindash for example). Anyway, this is not for submission but for entertainment. :)

P.S.: I know that ARZ2 was the worst, I made only ~50 rerecords on it.
I saw your finished run on youtube, and I have to ask: why didn’t you submit it? It’s extremely enjoyable to see…

Nice run, man! Even if it does not look as a speedrun, it’s amazing to see how your goal changes the manner of your gameplay. But it’s gonna be a very complex project, I think — much more movements to optimize than if you simply run from the start to the end.
P.S.: the run looks like the rings are harmful ^_^ (and SCZ looks like you are making a pacifist run).

Yep, I remember, and also remember about possible improvement in MCZ2 in the boss fight (getting Tails to appear in proper position to hit the boss earlier)…
And even if there was an enemy, you should avoid getting harmed if you are making a no rings run. I think you should look deeper for ability to zip through walls to left to be directed to the end of the level…

I plaid only Sonic games and only just for fun, and the most hard for me is to control character when she (or he) is offscreen… And also I agree with jlun2 about luck, but I never used luck manipulation so deeply.

Hmm, no… It does not sync because of luck manipulation used… Some things need to be re-done… But I guess it’s still possible to make it to sync fine by editing the file manually.

The time of each level is limited, so there is max possible number of rings that you can collect. Hovewer, it will look quite boring :)
Btw, am I right that the number of rings more than 999 cannot be displayed properly?

I beleive that this run would match the goal “ring attack” if you took ring TVs and didn’t skip levels because of incollectable rings. Reaching perfect bonus in some stages would be just a piece of sugar in the run.
