Just save it as file.lua, then in your Gens click “Tools → Lua scripting → New Lua script window”, then “browse” and select file.lua. It clearly shows that you’ve lost some rings in MGZ2. They got unloaded by running too far with the lightning shield.

The ways to collect some “uncollectable” rings may be extremely tricky, like some kind of memory corruption allowing to change the death boundary using an yet undiscovered ACE glitch :)

Yeah, in this game you can never say for sure what is possible and what is not. That’s why it doesn’t make much sense to call some rings “impossible to collect”, much more correct form is “rings, for which there is no known way to collect them”.

So, I present you the fresh preview of the Amy@S3K TAS, which I am doing with some help from Evil_3D. We are already 2888 frames ahead of the currently published run (real time comparasion), and there is a real chance to bring the length of the run below 100k frames :) Link to video Well, actually, for the Sonic games we do usually count mainly the in-game time, often sacrificing the real time to save some in-game time, but, as you can easilly guess, it’s also improved. In fact, every single act of every single stage is improved by at least one frame. The second half is going to be interesting, because it’s generally harder: what are the only SPZ2, FBZ2 or SSZ! But well, we already have enough experience to face those challenges and improve those zones as well. Stay tuned :) Please note that I realize that my TAS is “too fast” to a level when it becomes very boring, just keep in mind that the pure speed is the primary goal of this project.

Well, that’s possible if the ROM hacker changed the RAM layout, or if you changed the wrong checksum. You should use the one for the original game, on which the hack is based.

Well, I was right about both missed rolling and missed jump, but actually, it saved only 5 frames, significally less than I expected, and probably not nearly enough to be able to abuse the platform to get even more advantage. Anyway, here is my gmv, feel free to take or ignore it, it’s completely up to you. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/458721854/Knuckles%20Ring%20attack%20%28Kaan55%29.gmv Actually, this can probably be improved by 1 frame more — rolling speed cap (RSC) limits your horizontal speed by 4096, so, if you manage to get a bit higher speed after the down-loop jump (with the glide-landing trick), which is, I think, possible, you can run instead of rolling for some time and start rolling a bit later. Rolling there is required only for the last jump — I do not actually know how such kind of jump is called, but it is very widely used in Sonic TAS — when you land immediately (on the next frame) on the same slope from which you’ve just jumped off. One of the best examples of abusing such a trick is currently published S2 TAS (and Zurggriff’s WIP of it’s improvement), the very first zone — see how the player gets extreme boost from abusing every single point where the explained jump is possible. As I already said — TASing Sonic games is all about small details. 3 frames here, 5 frames there — and to the end of the stage you are many seconds behind true expert optimizers like Aglar. Don’t worry, I am also not Aglar, just yesterday Evil_3D improved my Ice Cap with Amy by about 1 second. Btw, my Amy@S3K TAS is really close to be half done, I succeeded at pushing Launch Base 1 to 0:24.59, and LBZ2 is the last part of the first half. Amyway, this discussion is about a hack, so, I am not going to post amy gmv or video here, just mentioned it for your interest. I’ll probably share a WIP when I’m finally done with the first half.

Looks much better now, but I strongly beleive that you missed rolling at ~0:45 and jump after that, that would save like 10-20 frames. If you want, send me the gmv and I will check it.

Yep, it should be used when it saves time, but not for entertainment, because it's entertainment value is doubtful.

Actually, I hate abusing Hyper transformation. I am not sure if someone here agrees with me. It's getting old after using it 1-2 times, and later it only breaks the expected music, which is uncomfortable, at least for me. I would prefer avoiding it.

He certainly could, but it would be slower :) Keep in mind that in fact, in order to beat the level faster, you need not just to reach the end as fast as you can, but instead, to deliver the camera there as fast as you can :)

Someday you definitely should, because trying to improve Aglar (or Tee-N-Tee, Zurggriff) is completely difference experience and teaches you very high attention to details. Even if you fail (which is actually quite likely), it will still affect the quality of your future runs. :)

I took my previous ring attack and rerecorded it, that’s why. I also wish you good luck, because I absolutely agree with Evil_3D — this stage is painful to TAS.
