Götzendiener PCE CD, fairly short and simple adventure/puzzle game. Not much to the game, so it's mostly walking around. I think my route is solid, but I could have missed something, especially on the falling cave part. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yji6syBxr2g

Noticed after doing RTA runs, that for some reason the TAS watches a skippable cutscene at the start of stage 5 in both loops. This is about 60 seconds of time loss. All you have to do is hold attack to buffer skipping it, same as skipping the intermission cutscene between loops.

Phantom 2040 on Game Gear. Quite different from the 16 bit versions, a pretty standard platformer. I skip all the extra powerup items, I don't think they are helpful, but other than that it's all pretty linear. I was able to clip into a wall on the final stage off the red horizontal key door, but I don't think you can do anything with it. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PytLGuwudmo

Silent Scope, port of the arcade game. There is an Arcade Mode and an Advance Story mode. Both are pretty short with not much RNG, most enemies spawn in the same spots every time. A couple of short homebrew games. The ROMs are available for free on the devs Itch, links are in the descriptions of my runs. Sam Mallard, a noir style adventure game. I think I came up with a solid route. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm4WVI5YYu8 Dangan, a bullet hell, boss rush shmup. Just 6 bosses, so also pretty short. Dracula: The Undead, straightforward adventure game, chain of events style, so not much to skip, but a short game. Happy to explain any of the order of events if someone wants to TAS it. I also found an Out of Bounds/Wrong Warp glitch, I didn't find a use for it but maybe there is or other places you can do it. I did an RTA run of the NES port last year, not sure how directly similar the versions are but figured I would mention it at least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNmJgGi-7zw

Castlevania. Has the classic dying into a loading zone makes you invincible, seems like it works only on upward stair transitions, but not totally sure on other transitions. For RTA I use the glitch on every level but the first, but likely a TAS would skip some of them. Holy Water does not stun like on NES, but I think it could be useful on certain bosses, since it still does multiple hits if their hitbox is low enough. Ninja Princess on SG-1000, a top down shooter. There is a port on Master System, The Ninja, but this is a different game. Straightforward game, and I think the enemies are deterministic, you have to collect 5 hidden scrolls and then that allows you to enter the hidden stairs in Step 10 to get to the true final level, otherwise the game loops. Atlantis: The Lost Empire on GBC, platformer with some puzzle elements. You have 5 characters, each with a specific ability, that you swap between to get past obstacles. You can only swap characters at a radio, and each radio only has certain characters available, so quite a lot of the game is linear due to the sequence it forces you to take. I did find a number of spots where I was able to skip intended character swaps, and there might be more. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdXDBPDfimc

Kyoro-chan no Purikura Daisakusen, 2D platformer. The point of the game is to go around and collect 100 photos, but you can just run to the exit in every level. There's a few skips using the Flower powerup, but other than that, it's all about keeping momentum and bouncing off enemies. There's some randomness that's not understood in 3-2 with the wind cycles and 3-3 with the avalanches. The WR run has a spreadsheet in the description full of strats per screen. The Scorpion King, pretty simple platformer. There is attack canceling, similar to Ninja Gaiden 1, where you can cancel the attack animation in the air or on the ground by hitting down and then attacking again. This is potentially faster on bosses than using the spin attack for a TAS. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7gmcBymdaw

Gryzor (Contra). Port of the arcade version. I used spread the whole run but I think Laser is potentially faster, tho you would need to be much more precise with it. I abuse deaths in the final stage cause it seems much faster than fighting the bosses. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VwI449-JaI

Pharaoh, an obscure platformer, with puzzles involved. Goal is to go around opening chests, 16 total, and build up 4 flames. To build up a flame, you need to get a pot, then oil, then flame out of chests, in that order. The order of the chests is important, as you need a key to open the first locked chest that has the empty pot, then you can get oil out of the next chest, and then you can finally get the flame. If you try to get a later item in the progression early, the chest will just give nothing. I believe my chest route is good, and I have a map if someone decides to try it out. 2nd part is the puzzles, you have to solve a lights out variant for every chest, flip every tile to an ankh. I probably don't have the optimal solutions, as puzzles aren't my strength. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eDM8dRkzzg

Doc Cosmos: The Saga Begins, GBC homebrew game. Go around collecting keys to open doors, and you switch back and forth between 2 time periods to reveal hidden things to progress. I found a way to grab a red key early and I believe that saves a lot of time backtracking and skips needing one red and one green key. You can also zip or get stuck in certain spots if you flip time when you are in a bridge or wall, not sure it's useful tho. I think my key route is solid, but not sure since no one else has run it. Ghouls 'n Ghosts, mostly a straightforward run, no damage boosting like other version. I noticed there is a weird thing where you can sometimes buffer a jump after doing another one, and sometimes you can gain height and jump from above hitting the ground, maybe something could be found with that. You can also sometimes clip thru slopes but might not be super useful, as you fall faster than the camera and the bottom of the screen kills you. I use the Lance for most of the game, none of the other weapons offer an advantage and the Lightning magic is great. I switch to the Axe in 4-2 for hitting Arremers in Stage 5 and it's magic is very good for the stage. But potentially maniping and switching weapons more could be useful. I figured out the Chest order for the game as well, it's in the description of my run. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP7ttAV4P1M

Ghosts 'n Goblins, super short, only 4 levels and 1 loop, then I think it just keeps looping for scoring purposes. I've done 2 loops and nothing new happens, just the same end screen and loops again. There are some things I don't go for in my run that would save time. Can jump the Ogres in level 2 (tho they can follow you to the other side of the house), and jump the full flames in level 3. Inspector Gadget: Advance Mission, a nice little 2D platformer. Mostly just use Brain the whole time cause he runs faster and has a double jump. The vertical sections could be interesting to see optimally done. RTA run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MjaUnAChz0

Machine Cave, a short homebrew Asteroids style control game. I found a nice wall clip that skips a lot of the game (there are a few others but I don't think they are useful). Essentially just need to get a weapon then head to the end and kill the core. The weapon I pick up kills the core in 9 hits and is along my route. The barrel powerup gives extra strong thrust for a limited use so I use that for a little shortcut. A TAS would be quite short, my RTA run is already sub 5 mins. Another cool Simple 1500 Series game, The Block Kuzushi, a Breakout-like. Would be very interesting as a TAS, due to the amount of control you have over the ball. Pressing X will briefly charge the paddle and allow you to charge and put spin on the ball. A charged ball will pass thru any block it hits, and the greater the speed of the paddle the longer the charge stays on the ball. This allows you to break a ton of blocks very quickly. The game also allows you to use your extra balls at any time with Select, and you keep them as long as they are still alive at the end of the level. So I imagine a TAS would spawn all the balls at the start and charge thru everything. Finally there are branching routes, I am not sure my route is the fastest, but it seemed the best for RTA. Midnight Mutants, a TAS could skip even more than I do. It would skip the Knife and Cross, and potentially Blaster 2, but not sure how much you lose later by skipping the extra damage output it gives. But I think my general route after the Cross is solid. Can give more thoughts if someone actually wants to TAS it.
