There is actually a little more different between the 2 versions, making the JP version slower. Mainly on the pirate ship. The pirates now throw knives at you, the mouse mini boss takes 4 hits to kill, instead of 2, and the octopus boss blocks your shots, so quite a bit slower there.

Well you need to win an extra basketball game to get that ability, which costs well over a minute, so not exactly worth it

I imagine it would be pretty straightforward to TAS, unfortunately the bosses take forever to fight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OiQvQ8Abjc

That was on Powerpak, I can try it on cart but it was consistent on Powerpak and Everdrive, not a weird one off flash cart glitch like I've seen before

Not sure if this is known or not but I found it on accident tonight. I was able to get Wily to spawn before the refights in Wily 4. Sometimes it resets when he spawns, sometimes hardlocks, or it keeps you stuck in the ceiling like the clip. It would be a big save RTA if you were somehow able to actually fight him from before the refights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn2h4S8OT78

A cool glitch was found about 9 months ago by GameGlitchGuy, which allows you to skip forward at least several screens into the next stage. I know Scumtron looked into it a little bit this morning, but interested to see if anyone else can figure out how to skip more screens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDatPwn2bfM I skip forward 6 screens in that clip but the most I have skipped is 9 screens into stage 2.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but is anyone specifically aware of what causes the softlock on the first form of the final boss? Not sure I have a highlight of it, but it seems like about 10% of the time, after doing the final hit on the boss the game just never loads the next part, and you get stuck in the room. Would be really helpful to know what causes it and maybe that will lead to a way to avoid it.

So I just started running this game and I am interested if anyone has any info on how the teleporting works, specifically how it determines where to teleport you. I have found several uses for it so far, warping past 3 of the 6 bosses. If anyone has any idea how it works that would be super helpful. I'll include the highlights of the 4 most useful I found tonight. Stage 1 - warped from inside Sandcrawler to just outside the stage exit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7lHsK1s6XE Stage 3 - warped from bonus room past the boss, holding Left during the warp for this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oyM8dXJdF4 Stage 4 - This is a big one, warps to dead Vader, taking you right to the cutscene after killing him. Holding Left after selecting Teleport for this one as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYVdrgzUkG0 Stage 6 - Another huge time save, probably skips like a minute of the stage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aa3w4SrJNE

Found a faster Stage 2 OOB than what the TAS does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avx9B46To8A

Any way the TAS could use this glitch to get to the end of 2-1 a little faster? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jtQZ-Ivcwo

But is it the same frame every time? It would conceivably be possible to get semi consistent if it's the same every time.

Do you think it's repeatable for RTA runs? Like is it just a frame perfect kill on the turret?

Here's my RTA record, 30-40 seconds faster, would love to see someone finish an optimized TAS of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCm2Cp_5gR0 I remember I accidentally found a zip in the 2nd to last stage, Centrum Floor 4. It did the same sort of thing that getting hit by one of the missiles does in that it took me all the way to the end of the stage, but with the zip it actually finished the stage without killing me. It was involving the elevator in the middle of the stage. Unfortunately I wasn't recording, but it was like I went below the screen then I jumped up into the platform there on the right. I don't remember the specifics but it would definitely save time.

Anyone have any idea what caused this glitch? I was playing on console with Powerpak. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtlzT9TyMVU

I was testing out 4-2 on console and I couldn't get the warp. I can get really close but can't quite get it. It should work exactly the same as in Normal mode but I can't get it. It might just be that there isn't a frame where you can get hit and grab the armor at the same time because the enemy's angle and speed are different than in Normal. If the enemy dies and disappears that just means you are picking up the armor too soon.

My guess for why the warp in 1-2 doesn't work is because you are starting the stage off a continue. There are several reasons warps won't work. If you pause on the stage. If you die on the stage. If you continue to the stage. If you game over on the stage. If you already have the armor. I think that's all the reasons why they would fail.

Is there no way to get the wrong warp in 4-2? Looks like it should be close to the same as in the normal route but I haven't had a chance to try it out myself. Check out around 4:30 in the video for what I do in the normal route https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgqiEp82tF4

You can see how I manipulated the red balls in my run, I think it was fairly consistent in saving me damage. As for the gun guys, it appears to be random if they will or won't shoot. Some runs all 4 would shoot, and some runs none would shoot, and then combinations in between. I think I found it more consistent to jump all through that room, like it lessened their ability to "see" me coming if I was mostly off the ground.

This is a really great run, nice to see the improvement over the old one. The only small thing I can add right now is about the red ball on stage 2. You can manipulate them by throwing a baseball, they will go after the baseball instead of you. That might leave you with enough health at the end to run through the final enemy. You'd also probably have enough health if you didn't get shot by those 2 guys towards the end of stage 1. Otherwise that was great to watch.
