the way I see it they're still the same. you can still get all things needed to start what you actually wanted to do and then make a savestate, and let the final avi 'start' from the savestate. then you still have your items and stuff too. I suppose the difference is that a savestate can be used anywhere, but if it would be used in a way that it looks like a normal game, I don't really see why it isn't allowed (like as a different category). you can just let the intro of the game go and then use the savestate just after selecting the character or something and make it a logical flow and stuff.

maybe it's just me, but subjective goals aren't quite reachable, since opinions differ. but a goal such as speed, noone can deny when one run is faster than the other. showing more of a game is cool and fun, but if speed is to be sacrificed for it, why not just make a separate small movie of the cool thing, and let the actual run be as speedy as light (assuming that's the fastest possible speed). if people really care about the cool stuff, they'd go out of their way to get the small videos themselves, without them necessairily being published. you could always link them from there too.

I don't trust cyberscores, they think insane stuff is legitly gotten when they get a picture and they can't even tell it's doctored and know nothing about the games afaik

Using more lookdown should lower your time and also I'm sure you could open door in sat tower earlier, you were looking to the side and were like right in it almost when you could open it.

no, it doesn't really speed the conversations up, just the messages will be inconsequent when you do that. 1 message will be up longer and another shorter, but it doesn't save time, I'm quite sure. we've tried several things to speech skip in GE without success before.

SDA uses in-game timers because they HAVE to.
actually, they don't when the game tracks the time well enough itself, which happens to be the case for GoldenEye. it's for each individual level alone though, so the mission times are simply added up. this is all off topic though for a TAS topic. I don't think there's anything wrong with setting things up to able to get the fastest mission times. it's personal preference. it could help us 'normal' speedrunners to improve greatly too. besides, can't you get rid of the quitting out of first level by using SRam or something? though I'm not sure what the exact rules are on it, but then you get what you want, it being shorter, but it's probably going up under a special category or so then.

I noticed that it automatically showed the results when I wasn't logged in.
