Do I, being a resident of the U.S.A., have to do something special to get the files in those two links? As far as I can tell I have no access to the files. Also, since my computer hates me, it isn't displaying the japanese text at all... so I can't navigate the site properly. Curse you Windows! Curse you! EDIT: Thanks Maza. That worked. ^_^

I also liked what I saw. Never really a big fan of this series before, but after watching your WIP I tried it out again. Anyway, I agree with your decision to take the hard path even if slower. After all, why not? The only complaint I have was the balloon level. It really didn't impress me although I really don't know how the level works, having never played it myself, it felt like it could have been a bit more, I don't know, fluid looking. I look forward to your next WIP.

Palette swaps, photoshop, rom editors, no life and a deep seeded desire to be the center of attention. The makings of a hoax. Given a day I could produce a video showing exactly how to beat the minus world... but it would still be a lie. Mario Bros has torn apart so much and the code looked over so often that something like a new world is entirely unrealistic.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you wanted but, here are some maps that I know of.

I just wanted to confirm that the jump is possible to do. I've pulled it off many times... I got the game pretty much the day it came out and it's doable in that version.

Sorry to hear that, Vatchern, because I would love to see a 100% of this game. I think most people that play a game like Mario 3 try to do 100% completion when they play. Or, at least, everyone I know personally does when they play it. Not to mention the stylistic differences the run would contain are sure to keep me interested.

Wouldn't this be better off somewhere like, oh I dunno, Here ? Still, I gotta say a 100% run of this game would require a heck of a lot of work... I wonder who would be up to it.

Now that was entertaining. ^_^ It certainly helped that I had "Disgaea: Hour of Darkness - Do Your Best, Girl" playing at the time too. Good stuff.

Hey, everybody, I just wanted to let you know that I'm making a Low Level FAQ over at GameFAQs. If you could post some possible helpful boss strategies over there for me I'd be grateful. A FAQ of this nature doesn't get made by just one person, it takes a community effort. Heck, my FF1&2 FAQ got over 1000 posts before I finally made it... so far, in two days, only 2 people have expressed any interest at all. And only just a tiny bit at that. Keep the stuff at the GameFAQs boards though, we need not clutter up this topic. EDIT: Removed broken link

I agree with Phil. Sequence breaks are fine and dandy, but they feel a little out of place in TAS's and speedruns. If I wanted to see somebody play through bits and pieces of a game and skip others I'd probably go to a friends house and close my eyes for ten minutes every other ten minutes so I miss important stuff. I suppose, for me, it's seeing what people can do within the intended bounds of the game and not what they can do by tricking the game. Both are cool to see, don't get me wrong, but I will always prefer seeing a TAS of a game sans the sequence breaking.

It would be interesting though, since a lot of people aren't aware that you can even get the Ice Key and the other things. It's an interesting point though. What is 100% for this game? I would define it as a fully powered up Banjo minus cheats. With 100% items collected inlcuding the keys and eggs. But that may be pretty boring to watch all those long codes being entered. Could be a big shock to people who thought only Banjo 2 had them, as the ending would have you believe.

A score run has a lot of potential for interesting techniques. At the same time it could show of a multitude of glitches. Personally, I would like to see a score run.

Just throwing a lot of ideas out: Terranigma, a 100% Kirby Super Star, E.V.O., FFMQ, Lost Vikings 2, any of the Ren & Stimpy games. But, most of all, I want a run of Wizardry V. I'd love to see just how badly that game can be manipulated. Anyone who's played it knows how hard it is.

It was already proven that the enemies you fight can be manipulated. You should never have to fight anything that poses a serious threat. For that matter I STRONGLY believe that avoiding almost all fights is the best way to approach this run. Weapons & Armor are expensive so the best way work around that would be to fight the occasional enemy that drops something worthwhile and then sell it. In the previous WIP there were a few fights with dogs early on. In the end I very much doubt they will have done anything for him. He could have gotten more exp simply by fighting 2 required fights 2 or 3 minutes from where he was. Required fights put you on a very decent level to finish the game. You need to worry more about getting fast money (there should be NO, NONE, ZERO, NOTTA power leveling) than leveling up. I know for a fact that you can complete the game in the lowest level possible having done so myself. Money was my main problem. So any fight you decide to fight should consider the following: How much damage will you take (ideally none) How much money do the enemies yield How many turns will the fight take (More than 2 and I say it's too long) What items do they drop How much can said items be sold for Ideally I think you want to take no damage, finish in 1 turn or 1 attack, get a large amount of money, and win an item worth selling.

You should read back a few pages. We have talked about manipulation a few times. But whetever you choose to do or not to do is still fine by me.

I just went to GameFAQs and requested that someone takes this speed run. If I don't get modded for site advertising (that would amaze me) hopefully someone will decide to do it. EDIT: If you want to help my topic (and thus help the chances of getting somebody interested) by saying some nice words here's the link. http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=588301&topic=23178375

That factors in money and fighting battles that may be unneccesary. The only way I can think of to make a huge amount of money for rockets quickly would be manipulating drops from enemies. Some drops are very valuable and should fund a rather nice supply in just a couple fights. That would minimize time lost and hopefully pay off. Meteornium for example sells for 1k. Plain Crocodile - 1/128 Smilin' Sphere- 1/128 Spinning Robo- 1/64 You'll pass by a decent amount of those through the game normally and could easily manipulate several more. That would help fund some better armor earlier Meteotite sells for 2k. You get it later in the game. Big Pile of Puke - 1/64 Evil Eye - 1/16 Hyper Spinning Robo - 1/128 Mechanical Octobot - 1/128 Military Octobot - 1/128 Soul Consuming Flame - 1/64 Whirling Robo - 1/128 Multi bottle rocket cost $2139 a piece. And can only be bought in a few places. Guy with Camel - Southern Scaraba Arms Dealer - northeast Deep Darkness But, thankfully, you can get them from battles too. That would seem, to me, the best way to get them. Even Slimier Little Pile 1/32 Wild 'n Wooly Shambler 1/16 Wooly Shambler 1/64 I agree they will be needed and a few late game battles might help. Since money is going to be used up in other ways (weapons and skip sandwich (DX)).

I suggest we start up a new group of special Moderators. The goal of which is to make them designated SRAM creators. I'm sure bisqwit has an idea of certain people he can trust to do the job. Provided they are willing to create the occasional SRAM. I think this would solve the trust issue.

It's only 1/128. That's the highest any items drop rate is.

You figure those things out by talking to people and exploring. Zelda games aren't reknowned for the difficulty level. Still, to each his own. Right?

Yes, yes! Oh lord, yes! That would be really cool. I've only ever seen the secret dungeon once... way back in the day. Now it seems that the game hates me. Every time I attempt a 100% run something always makes me lose the ambition to finish it. Usually in the form of a power outage killing 6 hours of game time (I tend not to save often). Thats happened at least 8 times now... rainy days make me wanna play the game. Not sure why.

That may be your opinion. And you are entitled to it. But, the general speedrun community disagrees. Turbo is cheating in speed runs. If you cannot do something yourself it becomes tool assisted.
