The time saved in 2p mode would have to be ENORMOUS to warrant the transitions. Every time Mario or Luigi finishes a level, it has to fade to black on he map screen & transition to the new player--that's a LOT of lost time.

At 12:35, just after doing the fireworks thing, it looks like you hesitate before leaping off the ledge. What's going on there?

At about 0:35 seconds in this video, you bounce up off of one white pig thing onto another, and your bounces are very very low. Would it be faster to land on the platform right next to the pig and do a full-height jump onto its back, to cut out a few of the lesser bounces?

Eventually, you get the ability to summon blocks out of mid-air, correct? I played this a long time ago, for a short period of time, and couldn't be bothered to finish it. I'd be interested in seeing the sequence break potential at the very least. :)

reviving this thread... so I dont know if you heard about the shoot through the roof bug. basicly its done this way Would be really great if we managed to pull that off
It is easier with God Mode because of the jump cheat that is enabled as a part of God Mode. (In God Mode, if you have the pogo stick out, holding the jump button allows you to fly.) I am doubtful this will be possible without the God Mode cheat, but I look forward to being proven wrong. :)

Are you certain, Kofiman? Try erecting two farms next to each other, but tell additional peasants/peons to repair one of the two while it builds. You need extra resources to account for the repair action, but I think you'll find that the repaired building is built much faster. In the DOS version of War2x 1.5, having a single peasant repair a farm while it is being built completes the construction ~5 seconds faster. Two repairers complete the construction ~16 seconds faster, and four peasants can complete one farm before a lone peasant can build half a farm. :) It is definitely a boost to speed, but it requires additional gold and more importantly, lumber. I think in the run for level 1, it would be detrimental to repair the buildings, because of how long lumber takes to harvest. Later levels might allow for this strategy!

An Any% run would really be comparable to the first half of a 105% run, because you aren't awarded the Crash Dash until the end of the game. You could still get the Platinum relics on all of the non-Crash-running levels during your first go-around. What techniques were you using during that TAS experiment video? It looked like you were sliding off of some edges, to get a speed boost, but how were you keeping your jump/move speed so high after that? :) Crash Bandicoot: Warped is my favorite Crash game, so I'd be very interested in seeing either an any% or a 105% run!

Something like that. The whole point, from my perspective as an outsider, of a SuperPlay/TAS, is that "everything that occurs in the movie is technically possible on the physical console--it's just that no ordinary human has the timing/reflexes/foresight to achieve it." If the SuperPlay/TAS suddenly is based off of inaccurately emulated hardware, it dismisses the whole thing--it's no longer technically possible on the physical hardware, because the physical hardware operates under different parameters. It's still interesting to watch, sure, but it lacks a lot of the impact. If there's a more accurate emulator, that more closely models the real-world counterpart of the physical hardware, I'm definitely more interested in seeing TAS/SuperPlay movies created using that, because then I can see the player in those movies overcoming the same limitations I, as a humble player, am stumped by. If I watch the video and claim "Impossible!" and the answer is "Actually, it's entirely possible, because the emulator doesn't model this XYZ chipset accurately, so in the computer version of the game, you can skip level 3 entirely!" I am not awestruck, I am disappointed. :P Think of it this way: If there's a cheat that lets you do something on the PS3 version of the game, and the XBox360 version of the same game doesn't have the cheat, and all you've ever played is the XBox360 version... how impressed are you going to be if you see a fancy stunt pulled in the PS3 version, knowing that it's achieved ONLY through use of a cheat that your version doesn't have?

Stone & Cutter lets you become various animal friends from other Kirby games. I believe the little green bird form was pretty quick, but you'd have to manipulate the RNG to get it. :) Might be worth investigating.

Wow, that was pretty cool! Is the screen-scrolling early-ending thing something that could be done in other, earlier levels? The sheer absurdity of glitching a Yoshi Wing in order to finish so many levels so swiftly is really amusing. :)

Is there a reason you didn't go above the stage in Balloon Park? :) (Climb the wall and then just jump over the gap, getting the laps quite swiftly!)

Hmm, aren't there way more enemies than there are levels? So wouldn't you have to play through the shortest level a few dozen extra times to repeat the bonus game to get all the cards?
Can you actually get all the cards from a single level? I seem to remember trying to replay a single level multiple times to get cards I was missing, and discovering that I could only get certain cards from certain levels--it needs to be tested!

Well, the mapping aspect could be completely neglected with a good TAS--the user-drawn map is more for player reference, which a TAS would not need. The only issue I can think of would be the question of whether not to go beyond Floor 25 into the crazy deeper realm. You can run through Floor 25 with pretty much any build of characters and combos (though Troubadours are kind of awesome)... but once you hit the deeper stuff, you pretty much NEED a Protector utilizing the correct skills, or you get wiped flat-out. All a TAS would do is nail the "correct strategy" ASAP with no errors, which is pretty fun to watch if you've played the game before, but it would be pretty dull from an outsider's perspective. :\

oh wow, haven't checked back here in a while! thanks a lot for the feedback XkyRauh and Personman!!! here's one more combo tas I made plus two perfect character tases: Yoshi and Falcon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ0BL23lZlw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzfjoEtY-JE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAn6I8la9Bo again, thanks for the compliments and hope you enjoy!
The Falcon Punch combo video was adorable. :) Great showmanship! I liked the Normal Falcon video a lot, particularly the "two kills with one punch" moment, but was disappointed you didn't use more Falcon Kicks. Great job using the moveset, though--it was fun to watch! I would have liked to see more Down-Air action with Yoshi. You did a supreme job of opening with it for massive damage, but from then on, the Forward-Air was the weapon of choice (with good reason). Excellent work on both videos! What are the chances of you doing a 2p vs. video that shows off some incredible dodging/recovery? :) Two TAS opponents fighting each other, Matrix style... haha!

No kidding! I always wondered why the Super Sonic music was so much shorter (and so much more annoying) in 3&K than it was in 2. >:{

Sort of a resurrection, here, but I've been playing Mario Kart Wii with my roommates lately, and it led to this train of thought: In Wii, you can draft off of other people to get a boost of speed. In theory, if you had perfect planning between two people, you could draft back and forth to get a pretty consistent boost, on top of whatever item manipulation you could create with the item boxes. I know drafting exists in MK64, too--it's just not as visually apparent. Does the drafting mechanism offer enough of a boost to be worth the trouble of a 2p run?

So the "Cannon" status appears, even on the English version, even though it never appears during ordinary gameplay? Or does the English version simply go straight from Crash to Clear?
