I'd like to know why Bloobiebla holds onto that cuckoo for so long on his way up to Zora's domain. I didn't think you needed it to get through the waterfall, and it looked like it slowed him down the whole way (except the initial fence skip).
You do need it to get past the waterfall. Either that or play the song, which is slower.

Encodes: Intro + First cycle: http://www.filedropper.com/swordlesslinkmmtaspart1 Second cycle: http://www.filedropper.com/swordlesslinkmmtaspart2 Very nice job on the run so far, SL. I definately think that this will go below 2:10 when it's done. ;)

Thanks for the encoding, Yautja. Maybe you could do it for later WIPs, if it's not too much trouble. =]
If I'm around, and nobody else does it first, I will. It's really not much trouble since I can record while I watch and then it's just a quick encode. ;)

Very nice work SL, that looked tightly optimized for sure. I made a mp4 encode of the wip for those who want it: http://www.filedropper.com/swordlesslinkmmtaswip1 Covers everything from where you gain control in the woods. I didn't include the 3 minute intro cutscene.

Even those who know "everything" about the game would get very confused by BA/RBA at first, so not getting what's going on is definately nothing to be ashamed of. I for one know next to nothing about how the glitch works, only what it does.

Dropping into the hole respawns the cucco at it's original location.

Jumpslashing skips the text box that triggers in that area though, so overall it should be faster.

Apparently even if you get game over, you'll restart in the master sword room, according to Manocheese at SDA.

As I watch a speedrun, I automatically skip past any cutscene, even if it's a scene I've never seen before. I want runs to be entertaining, sure, but entertainment to me is to watch fast gameplay. Not cutscenes, not graphics, but fast and smooth gameplay. I'd take a f.e.a.r run using the lowest settings, recorded at 60 fps over a run using the highest settings with lower framerate any day. Not only would the run most likely be faster, it would be a lot easier to see what's going on with a higher framerate.

yeah... luck and skill, they're basically the same thing. it's just a matter of luck who is most skilled. they happen to have the best genes and talents. and luck is skill because you have to play skillfully long enough that you get lucky.
Unexpected things will always happen in most games, that forces the player to lose time, no matter how skillful they are in any aspect. That is the part were you might get lucky, or not.

That's a new trick found by Acryte of SDA a few days ago, it allows you to get across the broken bridge with just the hookshot, if that wasn't clear enough.

I dislike any type of 'normal' segmented run. It is like using a 'limited' set of save states.
a single segment is also like using limited save states... only 1 save state. the problem is that you can use it (restart) infinite times, so there's no skill required, it's just a matter of who has most patience to play it until you get everything right. there should be speedruns where you only get one chance, then you can see who's the most skilled.
Or who's the most lucky.

I've manipulated many drops in diablo 2, one with the odds 1:1250. I was lucky and got it after only about 500 tries though. Using bots for something like that would be ridiculous, IMO. If you're not capable of making a run of a game yourself, without the help of external tools, then stay away from running it. That the way I see it.

Remember that a 100% run wont really show everything in the dungeons, you'd basically just sequence break to get the things you need and then go straight to the boss, with as little fuss as possible in between. An example is the Deku Tree, you'd use the wall clipping glitch to skip almost half of it, while still managing to get all the skulltulas. Another prime example is the Dodongo's Cavern, where you basically skip all of the dungeon as a kid, then you'd come back as an adult and simply grab those skulltulas, then exit.

Speaking of black holes... they "found" one with the mass of 18 billion suns, and it has a smaller black hole orbiting it: http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2008/03/18-billion-suns.html

There is one frame where you can't jumpslash because thats the frame where Link lands. Link actually stands on a very narrow bit of land and then gets ejected because the area is too small to stand on.
This sounds like a perfect application of the infinite sword glitch. Activate the glitch on the altar, sidehop through the acute angle, catch on the ledge due to the glitch, center yourself and then jumpslash into the corridor.
People at SDA have tried that a lot, but it seems that you can't get through the wall with the glitch activated.

I'm not sure, but couldn't a backwards sidehop help in getting the right angle? If you didn't know, its done the same way as the sideways backflip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDQ1jCHAXTY Just do a sidehop instead of a backflip after the roll. A TAS should be able to get Link to face almost any angle by timing the sidehop on different frames after the roll.

The speedrun at SDA completes with a time of 2:06, so a TAS should go plenty below 2 hours. You might also want to check out dezbeast's wip back on page 19.

They should beat those 4 within 20 hours, expecially since they're several people running.
