It seems I'm determined to ensure you don't publish this year... Macaroni pie (sorry, a) I would have worked on this sooner, but I didn't have time, and b) I didn't expect you to progress so quickly...) Edit: now with more dead medusa head.
Strange, I can't load your movie. "Unsupported VisualBoyAdvance save game version 13" The file is in the same folder as the emulator and I am using Save Type -> Automatic Any help? Edit: Nevermind. I fixed it.

Yrr managed to avoid the HP gain from succubus, but I don't know the details. Does this make it viable to avoid rotten meat?
The trick is to the change the souls the very frame after hitting Graham. For some reason this negates the HP gain. Edit: Just watched Kriole's WIP. It is totally amazing. I wish I had that much patience :o What's your secret?

Holy shit, your WIP is amazing so far! I can only guess how much time you must have spent on the run o_O Keep it up!

Btw, I think I found a small mistake in your any%-run, Kriole. At around 61000 frames (room with the Axe Armor) you can actually jump over AA without attacking while taking no damage. This avoids the need of using backdash to cancel the swing.

Why did you actually use Nightmare soul on Balore? Aren't there stronger souls (Lightning Doll come to mind)? Besides, great run so far!

Can't watch the Graham fight for some reason =/ You could have gotten the big heart after getting catobelpas soul in the same room, like I did in my run. Did you think of that? I don't think it's wasting too much time.

About Bone Pillar... wouldn't that allow to skip Catoblepas completely? Besides, amazing work!

Amazing o.O This time, there is nothing I can bitch about. Your luck-manipulation skills surpass mine by far. Incredible job!

Very good work! Looks very smooth now. Have you tried this way of moving? 1. turn around 2. L + A 3. - 4. A 5. - 6. Down + A 7. Wait for land, then repeat Iirc, this method is slightly faster.

Holy shit - the kicker-attack combo (first used against werewolf) is freaking awesome. Keep it up!

Skeleton soul? I assume you mean the Catoblepas, getting it on the second one is easier, since it leaves so much time for manipulation and getting the first one does really no difference - you still have to wait for the Minotaur soul so that you can enter the pause screen. The small distance traveled is not enough to warrant those frames back.
I meant that yellow Str +4 soul (Skeleton knight). Sorry, didn't remember the exact name. - The first place which seems a bit unoptimal is the room, where you fall down (before the first Graham encounter). I think the horizontal distance travelled could be higher, if you jump a bit later, so you could leave the room sooner. Not sure about this one, but it seemed faster for my run. - The other room is the one with the first Catoblepas. Again, not sure, but you leave the room by falling, so if you jump higher, your vertical speed is greater, making you reach the ground of the next screen earlier. Did you test that? I hope you understand what I am trying to tell :)

Nice Work! Some (relatively insignificant) stuff I noticed: -A very minor thing: You equip Baselard before backdash. Why? Going to menu stops your movement for like 1 frame (but it doesn't really matter anyway). -Wouldn't it be faster to get Skeleton soul at first occasion possible? You could move through the room where you finally got it faster. I am not really sure about this one though. -You don't seem to optimize the go-up-stairs-technique, like I did. However, since you are ahead of me, it doesn't look like it made a difference... -Few places seemed a little unoptimized. Also: +You killed more enemies without wasting time. +Better luck-manipulation. +Other minor time-savers. +You performed the minor "knife floating in the air"-bug =D All in all, very good run so far!

Hi guys. I'm sorry to say that, but I decided to abandon my run. It is really sad for me, having spend so much time on this game. I contributed a lot, and I think it should be finished but... 1. This game is getting extremely annoying. I restarted it like 5 times already, and I don't feel like redoing everything again and again. 2. When I thought I could include every new trick and technique in my run, I am proven wrong. Kriole's trick to get Kicker Skeleton early basically obsoletes a good portion of my run. I spent hours on optimizing every room as much as possible, and then... 3. I won't have much time in the future, making it difficult to make further progress. Besides, Kriole is working on an improved version anyway. I'd love to finish this game, but appearently it's not meant ot be... However, maybe, I'll find enough time and motivation to continue. I don't think so, but you never know. PS. I am pretty sure, that Kicker is faster than the backdash run. PPS. Kriole, please post a WIP of your run =)

Holy shit. I never thought I would ever see a 100% souls run... I can't imagine how much time you had invested in this run. It's incredible. This TAS surpasses virtually every other speedrun I have ever seen. I can't think of a single run that is that entertaining and has an amount of repitition so low like this one's. You used new strategies that hardly anybody else has seen before. Even though it is not technically perfect, this will stay among the best runs that have ever been made.

Actually, I tested that glitch a bit a long time ago, and you cannot jump infinitey (sp?), only like 255 times. Just wanted to say that =P

2nd Death fight Sorry for not posting any progress the last few weeks. I was a bit busy, and besides, Death was a bitch =/ The Death fight is a bit ugly, I had to duck to avoid Death's last attack. This fight is around 100 frames faster than the other one.

Note: When I played the movie for the first time, it desynced around Catoblepas. VBA seems to have a desync cause.
I checked the movie several times and it works fine for me. I will redo the death fight, using LD on the first seems more efficient. With luck-manipulation it seems that Death's second form can be attacked without ever stopping or slowing down. Oh well.

> Death killed < I didn't use GA because catoblepas did more damage and costs less mp. GA probably gets useful later (in combination with red minotaur). Compared to my other run, Death got killed so much faster, thanks to my much better equipment. He can't even perform his second attack in his second form =)

Easy yes vote. Very impressive run - I don't like the ending, though... no final boss battle :)

Progress Also, higher rerecord count than frame count ftw Yeah, I collected a bit more stuff, hopefully making Death and the rest of the run faster (and more entertaining).

Balore fight was yum. Otherwise, your movie seems to lose to zggzdydp's, while klmz's page suggests that either kind of run (glitched and unglitched) can be pushed several seconds lower. No idea how, though, I'm far behind klmz on Castlevania knowledge.
Woa, I didn't know that most bosses could be skipped like that! So the Bat-glitch seems to be the Succubus-glitch of AoS o.O I didn't upload the whole thing? I am pretty sure I double-checked the file, oh well.

Yeah it's me again! I apologize for not making any progress. However I'm having more time now and I think I could continue my run. I'm really tempted to finish this one. I have made a new Boss Rush, finished in 1:10:70. Here is the YouTube version.
