I usually end up TASing games that I realize have already been submitted to the site, but to avoid breaking rules I just upload them to Youtube for reference.

You know how I'm always asking how to save movies to come back to later and how to use savestates properly and stuff like that? It was right under my nose the whole time: TASeditor. I've got the hang of out to use the controls with it etc. Now I've just got to learn how to string it together into a proper TAS...

My little sister has been playing some games on my VBA, her two favorites are Densetsu no Stafy 2 and 3 and Tales of Phantasia (I introduced her to RPGs) The problem is, since she's so young she knows how to control the game but there's some small parts she keeps getting stuck on, especiall in ToP when she gets jumped by owls and stuff. I am requesting a lua script of some sort that detects what part/segment/kind of battle the game is on and plays it for her, I'd greatly appreciate it as it would be a big help to her. Or if that isn't possible at least something that shows her where to go, what button to press or who to attack etc. that'd be fine too. Thank you!

To use this glitch, you can everts the world wherever you are. When you die, you fall down like supermario from dead point to bottom, if a eversion point is below you, you can everts while you touching the eversion point. After the death ends and before the black background tip appears by 1 frame, in this frame everts the world and you get this glitch. If you everts from lower to higher world, you can only everts the world +1 each time. Otherwise, if you everts from higher to lower world, you can only everts the world -1 each time.To get the good ending, the possible way is everts to world 7-8 and access to world 8, this glitch is for that. I got dibs on TASing Starfy 2 :P Anyway, my five year old sister and I are huge Nintendo fans and we are big fans of the Starfy franchise, and since Starfy 1's already been spun out of control (literally), I thought at taking a shot at TASing the next one over. Keep in mind, I've never done a Japanese TAS before so it may be a while before I finish my first WIP, and I also need time to figure out what the bleep Kyorosuke is saying throughout the game as well as everyone else. Phee.

Well look what we have here, it's now Christmas Day! And why am I rhyming, is the question, you say? 'Tis a day full of cheer, of gratefulness and joy! If no such thing ever happened, what would I even employ? But enough of my rambling, let's get right down to the point, It's the Holidays, it's Christmas, and that means we're all joined! Whether families, or friends, even relatives you're beside, It really doesn't matter, if the day's a nice ride. And even so, though not needed, it's still nice to receive, And what better way to do so than with games you can't believe? It was you, all you people, that made us all smile, You amazed my whole family, it was all the worthwhile. While they sat back and marveled at the tool assisted pride, They just sat there, all amazed, with their faces yelling "Oh my!" And we know for a fact that it was not human skill 'Twas surely not the doing of a human it fulfilled. Though only just the magic of computerized grace It somehow put a smile on my sordid, sad face For no'er else have I seen such people move so fast They even went as far to save the first boss for last! They were all oh so speedy, they even went through the walls And some of them even lived through the deadliest of falls There were many that shot, those who blazed and they who slashed All the magic that was made my screen, with joy, flash! From passwords to glitches, even two players in one, It never once even ceased to stop handing out fun. Even watching was enjoyable, not boring in the least And I'll admit, it's the truth, there is the Grue's hearty feast But lo, even so, even that's all okay! For if we don't even try, do we get through the day? So I close up this message with a song of light's ray, Merry Christmas to all, have a WONDERFUL day! Merry Christmas From YushiroGowa!

I was fooling around with Cheatengine when I found something interesting; the Speedhack can be set to around 0.3 or so on the game you're running, then you can record the video with something like PlayClaw. When played back, the video automatically goes to normal speed! The only tiny thing is the audio won't catch up, so you'll have to put some music over that or something. Here are the fruits of my labor in Minecraft: http://youtu.be/FBlm5lJS2fo

I have a recipe for you. Take a small teaspoon of the platform shooting genre, add a dash of characters with super-cool special abilities, mix in a pinch of the ability to manipulate time to fight alongside your past self, and stir it together until the batter thickens. What do you get? The best single-player Co Op experience ever made into a game. BUT: What if this game could be TASed? Imagine clones of yourself acting with superhuman reflexes! Picture the mayhem in your mind, all those...copies of YOU, looking like a freaking Super Soldier! It has potential. But can a TAS be done for the Super Time Force? That's for Commander Repeatski to look forward to....Maybe....

Now this may come as a shocker. It's my very first Game Boy game besides Pokemon Yellow, and I remember it being my cousin's favorite too. Wasn't very fond of the death sequence though :S But seriously, what would a TAS of this game look like? Maybe just MAYBE it might have a chance, probably if you TASed a run of absolutely freaking perfect care, though that would require a bucketton of save states, but it's not impossible. Of course, maybe a run with all three Tamagotchis might suffice, but it's not really up to me. Just saying, it's something new to try.

Guys, I found a WORKING PSP Emulator! It's called PPSSPP (creative, right?) and with a little tweaking it actually works. I can't believe this is actually true, I've been playing LBP all morning with it. But could you imagine if we could make it a rerecording emulator...the possibilities are endless. Imagine a TAS of LittleBigPlanet! Or Sonic Rivals! OR ANYTHING ON THE PSP!!! Seriously though, this is just awesome. Don't believe me, google it and see for yourself. NEXT-GEN TASING IS UPON US!

1. It wouldn't be funny. 2. What Patashu said. You'd have to add them to the encode directly. I can't believe I'm actually giving legitimate advice, but try Aegisub. You get Avisynth support with the 32-bit version, so you can just add the subtitle file directly into the .avs script using a little bit of code and then... I dunno, push it through MeGUI for the actual encode since it has drag-and-drop .avs support.
1. What I meant was, have the characters converse with each other with the captions, BUT they ARE the author's commentary. Ex. "Gooey! You stepped on one of the flowers we need for the good ending! Now we'll get the bad ending!" or something like that. 2. Ah, I must be thinking of FCEUX.

Self explanatory, I got a superplay of Kirby's DreamLand 3 w/Gooey & ChuChu only going, and I thought it would be funny to make everyone "talk" to each other with the captions along with the author commentary. Thing is, I don't know how to add captions. Could anyone walk me through it? I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

SMARCADE, Aka Anarchy Arcade, is THE best, THE coolest and THE most extensively cool thing EVER happen to the Source Engine modding community. What is it? Well put on your listening caps and I'll tell ya. You start out in an empy, humble little apartment....nothing special...then you map toggle middle click in the control settings to oh say, TAB. You press the TAB key, and wammo, there's all your steam games in a list. Click on one, click okay and WHOA, an arcade cabinet?! Where did that come from?! I think you know the rest. That's right, SMARCADE lets you have your very own dream arcade right on your computer. What's even better is you can play your Steam games from Anarchy Arcade. It gets better. As you place more arcade cabinets, TV moniters, HD screens, Ceiling TV's, tablets, pay-for-play kiosks, demo kiosks and etc., you get points for doing so, then at the bottom of your screen you'll eventually see "Press C to collect your reward!" Hit that button once that appears and you get more stuff to spice up your room with! Of course if you've unlocked anything else you can spend your points on that too. I'm not finished yet; you thought the fun stopped at playing your Steam games? Pop an emulator and some ROMS into SMARCADE's addons folder, then load up a cab and point it there, and BAM! You're playing your favorite Nintendo games or arcade games right there in game!! Watch Youtube, use Facebook, check Twitter....the possibilities are ENDLESS!! So what are you waiting for? Download it and install it FOR FREE!!! It costs NO MONEY!

This is my favorite thing about SSF2 or any Smash Bros. game. As much as I love AI programming display, the one in the Smash Bros. games is just hilariously awesome. Just sit back and watch Level 9 Nintendo characters lively beat the shit out of each other.....GRAB THE FREAKIN PRINGLES AND A DIET COKE!!! Favorite setups: Follow the Leader: One Level 9 bot attempts to fight off three others in a team battle. Bob-Ombs Away!!: Everyone at Level 9 fights with bobombs as the only item. Doppelganger: One Level 9 bot fights....himself!! Mushroom Panic: Only Mario characters. Treason in Hyrule: Only Zelda characters. Pop Star's in Trouble: Only Kirby Characters. I Choose U: Only Pikachu. BAN-KAI!!: Only anime characters. You Cannot Grasp The True Smash: Only Ness. Hehehe....Cry Some More.....

Mascot characters for TASVideos! Ideas: Sidejump, Backdash & Clip: A trio of brothers who only traverse land by doing exactly wha their names imply. Glitchy McAddressValue: A scrambly looking man that likes to tamper with electronics in erradic ways. Lil' Grue: The TASVideo Grue's little brother. He only eats the leftovers of a failed submission. The Playaroundinator: A superhero who uses hyper reflexes to thwart his enemies using entertaining tricks. He often teams up with his sidekick Suboptoboy who acts as a second avatar. The Arbitraryfier: Playaroundinator's archenemy. He uses arbitrary code to hack the world around him to his unfair advantage. But Playaroundinator always finds a way... RNG-BOT: A robot shaped like a pair of dice who likes to manipulate luck. I think this would play out well!

1st of all: WE NEED MORE PLAYAROUNDS! They're very fun to watch. 2nd: If we can TAS Action Adventure games like Zelda: Link's Awakening and so many others, why can't more games have TASes where you just screw around? Lots of opportunities to be found and it'd bring more users to the site. First, we know that games like Zelda, as well as others, give a nonlinear story quest while offering the player total control over what to do next. That means you can either save X kingdom and kill Y Lord of Darkness or just screw with bombs and magic. Given that TASing these games allow you to more accurately use glitches and clip abuse to get around faster, as well as do so much more, who said you HAD to play the storyline? What do you think? Should we start Campaign Playin' Around and have ourselves a month of goofing off with robotic timing?

What the aresnist fuck is up with the rice ball and the little girl who actually gets KILLED by Mario? Not that there's something wrong with Mario I just didn't expect that in a Nintendo game.

If Dolphin can run Wii games, and Call of Duty Black Ops is a Wii game (yes I'm serious, go to Wal Mart and look in the games section), then chances are we could TAS everyone's favorite this-gen first-person shooter! Imagine superfast no-scoping and semtex throws!

All you'd need is a bit of patience, and how to sequence actions in a TAS with notes and beats in an MP3 file in a video editor.

This was floating around in my head the other day; what if you took a game, any game, with one, two or more players, had a song playing in the background of the video, and the players "danced" to the song through a TAS? I thought of this while watching a 2P TAS of Monster In My Pocket where Frankenstein and Dracula "danced" to the Stage Clear music. Lot of opportunities for sequenced input science here!
