Actually in the guide on Getting Started with TAS, I think it is relevant to show a full game TASed. Something small and easy to TAS. You start to define the emulator, the tools in it. What is a TAS, what are the standards of the sites. Where you should post, and a link to a video tutorial. I guess someone could make a small Super Mario Bros 1 TAS that doesn't need to be fully optimised, but should show some trick, and some neat technique. It should be easy so that a new user could do the same TAS from the videos. And then from there, they can start learning how to TAS harder games but the basic will be covered.

Hum the problem here, is that you are editing a game code to make it TASable. That would not be acceptable on TASVideos because the game shouldn't be altered. On another note, the only way to remove randomness from a game is to have the entire computer with a fixed date/time and follows the game. Because the randomness isn't exactly random, but it works with the date/time or the number of tick. If you have the same point of reference for randomness, it should behave the same. SaveState is a problem, because it should be an exact copy of the memory state. Which means you would have to read and write directly to memory the values you want (it will cause conflict at some point) For the recording part, Frapps isn't an option, it might be possible to output the video to some encoder, but it's probably only possible on linux. If you can't playback, you won't be able to TAS properly, you'll only be able to play slowly but you will be able to make mistake that you won't be able to correct. Without playback, you don't need input file, and you don't need savestate as you won't be able to go back, edit what you done, and see if it works. There's no way this will be an accepted method on TASVideos.

Bonjour, oui tu dois coché record from start et aussi clear sram. Seulement pour être certains, est-ce que tu comprends bien les principes des TAS qui sont sur ce site ? Tu sais que tu dois créer le film en jouant très lentement et en utilisant FrameAdvance. N'oublie pas d'envoyer des WIP (Travaux en cours) pour que les gens du forums puissent t'aider à t'améliorer. Secret of Mana n'est pas un jeu facile pour débuter et tu dois comprendre que le jeu te prendra probablement quelques mois à terminé. Bonne chance ;) Je vais essayer de faire la traduction pour les autres réponses que tu recevras, de cette facon, ce sera plus facile pour toi. Translation: Hi,yes you have to check record from start and clear sram. Just to be sure... are you sure you understand the concept of TASing ? You must create the movie while playing very slowly and by using Frame Advance. Don't forget to send WIP so that people in the forums can help you get better. Secret of Mana is not an easy game to start, and you must know that it would probably take you several months to finish it. If you have to do so Blindly, it means that it won't get published, unless a published is able to find a plugin that works. Minor graphical bugs are okay, but major bugs would be a problem.

With the Lua script that shows ghost. Why not try to do multiple input file that beats one game. And you change what you can in the run that can be changed (like jumping, flying etc etc) Then you put those with the script. I could be pretty cool. You can even make the movies so that they look like they interact with each other.

Try to install an IRC app on the iPhone :P Couldn't you monitor the usage of the iPhone. Like how many mb you used for the current month ? I know I can with my Internet Provider, but I don't know if you can on your cellphone carrier.

Part 1 Near 1:20 it is necessary to collect the heart ? Near 2:35 couldn't you have jump over the flashing ball instead of bending ? Near 2:40 The stairs doesn't look optimised Are you sure you hit the bosses on the first possible frame ? I didn't had time to watch the complete run, but it looks pretty well optimised other than that.

Hi, I'm not planning on TASing this game, but I just want to make fun with Lua scripts and memory addresses. This question may be better suited for DarkKobold. I'm trying to find a way to tell it's the turn of which character. I just want to write on screen some of the stats of that character. So maybe you can tell me how it works, if you know :P Thanks
