Halloforigin.com has a ton of info on how the Tweaking/Void glitches work. The Void doesn't vary from game to game, only on what flags are currently set in the current save file.

TAS-wise, there really isn't any definition of what a "glitch" is, only that a certain action that allows a glitch to occur is banned. I think a 70-star run should have the provision: "Mario's speed does not exceed (some value that allows him to go through walls)." Back on the topic of this run, I think the biggest thing this run does is to showcase why the current site is quite disorganized. In the site's current state, I'm agreeing with mklip2001's earlier post and voting Yes:

As for my 2 cents about categories, 0-star and 120-star, both allowing all glitches, make sense to me. These show the game pushed to the extreme in as many situations as possible. Another interesting category, and the most true to the original spirit of the game, would be a 70-star run without BLJing. It's definitely a hard problem to determine which 70 stars are the best to go for, and the lack of BLJ should hopefully make for really interesting strategies. Thus, I would say these three categories are the ideal categories for this game. In the meantime, though, I do support this run for publication. It's of a digestible length, so in the meantime it's a good run for people who find a 120-star run too tedious. The 16-star cutoff, while being dated, is still a well-known cutoff for the game, and it's interesting to have this as a historical throwback to how SM64 TASing has progressed. It's a good compromise, in the meantime, between everything and nothing, while maintaining a fast pace all the way (except when boarding Bowser's Sub). Thus, I vote Yes for this to serve as an in-between third category, with the caveat that a 70-star BLJ-less run should obsolete this.

Remind me again how the Pokedex counter gets overwritten with 152?

I'm kind of torn about voting for this. The goal is certainly interesting, and if there were more places where it was different from a normal run, I'd definitely vote Yes. It's also a very good first submission, much better than the average first submission here. Unfortunately, SMB warps coinless isn't set apart enough from SMB warps regular. Like others have said, if there were more interesting spots on a warpless run, then the coinless restriction would be different enough to warrant publication. I'm voting No here. Don't be discouraged by this, it's more the game design's fault than yours.

If I do this: - Trainer-Fly from the Youngster on Route 24 (to the left of Nugget Bridge) - Do the Ditto glitch - Fly to Saffron - Fly back to Cerulean - Go north to Route 24 to initiate the battle then do any objects disappear? If so, what?

I'm talking about using the glitch several times in Red version. For that, it's much easier to use the trainer on Route 24 since he is easy to avoid, as opposed to the ones on Route 11 east of Vermillion.

So if I do this: - Trainer-Fly from the Youngster on Route 24 - Do the Ditto glitch or w/e - Fly back to Cerulean - Go north to Route 24 to initiate the battle then nothing valuable should disappear, right? If something does disappear, what is it?

Are there any disappearing objects in either Cerulean City or Route 24? There was a list of disappearing objects in various locations, but many had question marks next to them. I'm playing Pokemon Red and abusing the Ditto glitch, but I don't want any valuable stuff like items and Snorlax to disappear. Since the disappearing object in Saffron City (a guard) is harmless, I'm thinking that I'll do the Ditto glitch by flying away from the Youngster in the grass on Route 24. If I fly to Saffron, then fly to Cerulean and go to Route 24 to trigger the battle, then the only disappearing objects will either be the guard in Saffron or anything in Cerulean/Route 24.

Just thought of something: Why not do a B-button less run in SMA4? In that game, L opens your inventory, not B. You still wouldn't be able to open chests, though.

Ok, just checking since sometimes glitches are discovered during a run by accident. And I just watched the previous (now obsolete) run. The 1up sound glitch was used only twice - is that really overusing it?

I noticed that in the current run of SMB3, the "weird sound" 1-UP glitch is used once, on the last 1UP in the first tank level of World 8. Just wondering, how come it wasn't used a little more often? Seems like it would be more entertaining if used in the right spots. Was it just an accident? If so, this is how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOhJk0PAp1A#t=01m30s

Yeah, doing the Mew glitch on Red/Green/Blue/Yellow and the Celebi egg trick on Gold/Silver/Crystal would make it 151 and 251 respectively.
If I remember correctly, the Mew glitch and the Celebi egg trick can get all 151/251 Pokemon using only a single game.

For obedience from a traded Pokemon: - The Trainer ID must match. - The Secret ID, an unviewable number from 0 to 65535, must match. - The Original Trainer name must match exactly. - The trainer must be the same gender. Chances for both IDs to match are 1 in 2^32, or 1 in 4,294,967,296. If everything matches, the game will recognize the traded Pokemon as your own and it will always obey and be able to be nicknamed.

I'm definitely using the same ROM. NO$GBA.INI says that the save format is "Raw". The ROM I'm using is "0037 - Super Mario 64 DS (U).nds".

Just tried that, didn't work. Am I putting the (.duc) file in the wrong place? Or does it not matter? I open DeSmuME, load my ROM, then select "Import Backup Memory". I select the (.duc) file. Nothing happens, so I reset the ROM. It still makes me start a new game.

I also fought only the required fights, with the exception of the very first double battle in the game with the Grunts (before I discovered being able to skip them)
How do you skip the Grunts?

I have a bunch of save files (.sav) from no$gba that I want to transfer to DeSmuME, but whenever I load the ROM in DeSmuMe, it makes me start a new game. Why? Am I putting the save file in the wrong place? (It's in the same folder as the ROM.) All save files are 512KB, and no$gba has its save format set to "Raw", not "Compressed".

So if I'm understanding this right, this glitch forces the value $76 into the location data, causing the game to warp the player to the Hall of Fame after the battle. A few questions: - Is it possible to save after this glitch and not corrupt save data? If you save through the Hall of Fame, does it corrupt data? - How can this glitch permanently get glitch items into your bag? (such as the NICKNAME? item that allows Walk thru walls, or the ????? Surfboard item)

I haven't been around here much recently, so: Could someone explain to me the basics of the ZZAZZ glitch, and how it gets glitch items into your bag? All I know is that doing the Trainer/Fly glitch with a Special of 251-255 will overwrite most of your Pokemon with Level 153 Exploding Bulbasaurs and overwrite your name with a bunch of Z's, because "Z", Explosion, and Bulbasaur all have Hex 153.

Question: I heard that Missingno. and 'M don't work in Jap Red/Green, only in Jap Blue and Eng Red/Blue. In Jap R/G, they freeze the game when encountered. Could someone confirm this for me?
