Better movie is here Still a few small adjustments to be made, but I don't know if I'll be able to make them before I move into my dorm.

I did a quick run through the game. It plays all 6 main games through as quickly as possible. http://www.geocities.com/aazurreco/Zurreco-KirbySSrough.ZIP (Uses Kirby Superstar (U)[!] as well) Obviously it is a very rough and flawed movie. It gives you an idea of what a fast run would look like. When I redo it, the sequence will be: Spring Breeze -> Gourmet Race -> Dynablade -> Revenge of Metaknight -> Great Cave Offensive -> Milkyway Wishes If only the CPU wasn't worthless as a helper >_<

There is no autofire for snes9x. If you're using slow motion, just hit your keys/buttons fast and it will look like autofire at normal speeds.

Proffesional mode only opens up once you beat the game. That means that the movie would have to start from a savestate, which is against the rules. Also, OgreSlayeR is working on an ActRaiser movie right now, and it is coming along very well.

Here is the file dan sent me to host. http://user.7host.com/aazurreco//castlevania_dracula_x_v1_dan_.smv SAVE THE FILE TO DISK. If you can't get that link to work (7host is iffy), Bisqwit was nice enough to host it as well. The above link should be attempted before you resort to using the lower one. http://bisqwit.iki.fi/kala/cvdan.zip

It's any three of those four. Make sure you don't press all 4 at the same time, though; that's the skip level code.

Lost Vikings 2 plays a lot more like an action game and a lot less like a puzzle game when you compare it to its predecessor. That being said, the game would be hard to make an accurate timeattack movie for considering that each character moves freely and relies on frame work to get each move correct. If you're going to make a movie for this, make sure that you're comfortable with every type of movement before you try it out.

Heads up on this one: the US version of EWJ1 is known to have a ROM fault that makes movies desynch within the first minute or so of recording. If that problem wasn't there, I would be 60% done with a good movie right now.

This is all based on what I've seen in the past: The conditions in which a player takes damage should play a big part in whether taking hits is better than not taking hits. If taking damage can lead to fluent and efficient time savers, and doesn't seem to detract from the movie's entertainment, then it is a better movie. Think about it; would you rather see someone spend time/speed avoiding hits, taking damage in an obviously speedy way, or taking damage despite saving time or style? If there is an enemy that can't be avoided/defeated without sacrificing an obvious amount of time, taking the hit is usually the best idea. I thought bob's movie wasn't published as an .avi because it was obviously longer due to 100% item collection...

Although you do seem do be faster over all, it seems that you make lots of sloppy moves that detract from the entertainment of the movie. You tended to miss some jumps, stop when it wasn't necessary, and swing when there were no enemies around/vulnerable to your attacks.

Just to let everyone know, all US and Euro versions of this game desynch for me. The most accepting version is the Demon's Crest (U) version, which waits 20 minutes before it decides to desynch. Demon's Crest (U)[!] and Demon's Crest (E) both desynch within the first 3 minutes of any movie. With that being said, there is no way I will be able to make this movie. *insert unhappy faces all over this post*

Submitted movies have to be played from reset and have to run off of the original ROM. This means that you would have to load a savestate before you played the movie, which is strictly against the rules. No ifs ands or buts: if we allow this, we open a gate for cheating and editing.

I have also wanted to see a run for this movie. If I had ever beaten it, I would know the best path to take through the whole thing. Too bad I always got lost about 65% through the game. To watch your movie, I need to know the name for your ROM. Also, from what you call glaring examples of error, I have to ask if you seriously used the slowdown and rerecord functions of the snes9x. If you just let them slide because a new movie was going to be in the works, thats OK. Just make sure youre a bit more tedious about perfection, and it should make for a good movie/some good competition.

Go for either 100% kills, pacifist run (0% kills), or an aesthetic run (any% kills with nice tricks). Whatever it takes to get rid of the monotony.

Special weapons would be great. Since youre not upgrading any of your aircrafts, you can buy any/all weapons you want, especially the g crushes. A pacifist run would be lame as opposed to a 100% kill movie, even though some levels wouldn't be able to do 100% kills (sub level, cavern level, final level) without using a different aircraft or special weapons, which are both acceptable. Just try to focus on accuracy, variety, and efficiency. DO NOT SHOOT DOWN STRAY MISSILES if you dont need to. Also, in your movie, I noticed that the first boss could have been faster if you had used your bombs and guns at the same time.

"Speed begets style" That is my mantra. I'm not a fan of imperfect moves, but if it's in the name of speed, I let it slide.

Can you give any more information? Frame number/Approx time/What was going on? This is further proof that the SNES9x gods hate me.

That will just get rejected by Bisqwit or Phil, unles it shows SOME skill/effort. I know GSGold was toying with the game earlier. Maybe they could be coerced into making a movie (and discourged from bringing up pie fantasies).

Asking people who know, is the same as looking things up for myself. I could either go scour the internet, or I can ask this forum. Searching for the answer would have probably taken alot longer then asking people here and I know for a fact that somone will know.
Not the take sides here, but it took you 1:30 to get your answer on these forums. In the time it probably took you to come to the forums and write out this topic, you could have opened up GameFAQs, searched 'Super Mario World', and clicked on "Codes/Secrets". This is, of course, assuming that you took 22 seconds or longer to type out your topic and get your response (and yes, I did time it). Google and GameFAQs are an awesome combination. Just a hunch though. You can all go back to being aggro now.
