I'd be open to this Helmet + other characters thing possibly, but someone would have to design these. Any volunteers?

Minor criticism in 4': At one point in the first section, you thud Maria on the ground. Might it be faster to jump just before you do so you don't?
Nope, this strategy is precisely 1 pixel faster than the next best method (I tried about 5-6 different variations there.
Minor criticism in 6: Might it be faster to double jump up to the top at the beginning (via the stairs, if necessary), then continuously roll to the door, instead of crossing all those gaps?
Again, I tried both, the one used is the one that ended up faster. As for the stage 7 bats, the amount of frames I lose it quite small, and manipulating the RNG costs frames. I experimented with different RNG, that was the best outcome I could get. A better RNG might save a few frames though.

Clever enough to take the time to figure out the french time zone? But not clever enough to enter his own time zone correctly?

I suspected sonicmason to be charles1q1w given the similarity of submissions (goal choice + game). However, I did some probing and couldn't find any evidence to link them. Different Ips (1 US, 1 French) for one thing. But also some little bits of evidence such as sonic putting in the right GMT time zone for France whereas Charles was unable to put in the right time zone for his region of the US ^^ I think we just have an interesting coincidence here.

I think there is room for both a maria and richtor runs regardless. And also a 100% run. Also the verdict isn't out on who is faster, as it is looking really close either way. I'll do my best to optimize the crap out of maria!

First video: He says in the description he didn't do it at the end of level 2 but by doing the falling sequence off a building in lv 3. I don't see how that is useful. 2nd video: Also, it requires the use of Mike to work, which would require a turtle switch. So it doesn't save actual time, but also costs time to do the switch (and to do a switch earlier in the game to give Mike the shurikens). As for the death shortcut, it was a year or more ago that I was seriously testing it. I can't quite remember exactly the failure, all I remember was that it was epic. The glitch won't even come close to saving time.

You would be right. Also, we are working on an any% run (using maria) as we speak.

I guess I'll in my vote for stage 4. I think it is the most entertaining level in the movie. If this were an any% run I would be worried about a 28 second tradeoff, but it isn't. It is an extra movie to show off a suboptimal character. And Stage 4 shows Richtor at his finest.

So, I've tried repeatedly to get a known good cue/iso of Dracula X to open in the newest mednafen but I can't seem to get it. Even when I try to use a batch file to start the program it wants me to open a "pce thing" of either .pce, .cue, or whatever.
Also, PCE CD requires a bios, and you must specify this bios in the commandline argument. What arukado is trying to say is that the next release of mednafen won't need commandline to open. It will have a GUI, a Open ROM menu item, and will startup without a commandline argument.

I find stage 4 far more entertaining than 4'. I don't see why he should have to be boxed in to do the fastest route in this case. It isn't a pure any% run anyway. We aim for entertaining runs here, so I support the decision for stage 4 over stage 4' To SirVG: calm down before you accuse mednafen of sucking. Well, it does suck, but not as bad as you think. The .mc2 version hasn't even been officially released. The medfront packaged with the official release obviously doesn't support .mc2, but all you have to do is select "All files" in the open file dialog to open a .mc2. The sound isssue is what it is unfortunately.

You can use savestates during the intro or cutscenes or it will hang like that, unfortunatley. Fortunately .mc2 is text so it is not to hard to edit the file to optimize those parts.

Nice improvement. However, I'm wondering something: Around frame 5840 it looks like you miss a shot. Did you intentionally miss with this shot to manipulate luck later on?
Wow, How did I miss that? Yeah that wasn't luck manipulation, that was an error that I didn't catch. Well, I removed the bullet from the movie and it synced fine. I updated the submission file with this new movie.

Well, I've already got a preview of this run obviously. SO I will go ahead and post my yes vote. I think this is a well optimized movie and will make a great compliment to the any% run once it is ready. (and assuming maria will beat richtor in final time) Keying bosses to death = mega-LOL

-r is insufficient because there are emulators with movie recording, but not rerecording. Such as the main branch of mednafen.

Oops, I voted yes on this submission by accident. Not that I necessarily won't vote yes. I haven't yet watched it.

Another staff announcement: Truncated has been upgraded to halfadmin. He has spent years dedicated to the site, which I highly appreciate. Good work. Also, Shinydoofy is now an admin of the forums part of the site.

It was a tough call between TASVideoAgent and TASvideosAgent, but I ultimately went with TASVideoAgent, probably because I've spent too many years on this site.

It is possible that there is timing differences between FCEU.28 and FCEUX for this game(or mapper).
