What does that have to do with anything?

Phil, cancelling this submission is one of the most immature acts I have seen on this site. Somone doesn't want to agree with you that another submission is PERFECT. Shocker. Rather than handle with situation with civility, you cancel all your submissions and say you won't contribute to the site (again). You are too old to be acting this immature. People look up to you and your runs, why not try to set a decent example for others? Not everyone will agree with you all the time. It might be a good idea to learn how to deal with these situations that don't make a fool out of you and the community. Maybe after you cool down from your hissy fit, you will realize that nobody disagreed that the OTHER run was flawless. Just that it is not possible to PROVE a run is perfect. This is a situation that should not have gotten this out of control.

Agreed with Kyrsimys, this is no an inappropriate thread. Don't mind AKA, he is a dick. When I first came to this site, one of the first moments to blow me a way was 6-2 of smb2U. I think it was genisto's movie at the time. But I remember thinking that this level would be boring looking because you have to ride the albatross across the level. It stunned me to see him do say "screw that" and JUMP across :O Wow, that was totally unexpected. I also enjoy all the moments you posted chamale

No entertainment vs speed trade offs were needed nor used in this run.

I personally love Phil's confidence & audacity of this claim :) Yes it makes me want to prove him wrong ;p but in this case I think he maybe right.

A) even if it were a concept demo it would still be a 2nd run to this game B) There is no precedent that this run be in a concept/demo category and plenty of precedent that it be a published in the normal nes videos category

I am very glad to see you make an improved version of this run. And almost 3 minutes faster! :) This was ver enjoyable to watch despite the heavy lag. I especially like how you went out of your way to make interesting pattern and designs in their movements. I suspect that theoretically, this run could be improved by about 30sec though in reailty it would probably be extremely difficult to optimize completely. I still think the run will be improved someday but this run is high enough quality and very entertaining. I will be accepting this for publication. Randil: No, this won't obsolete the 1p run unless an improved run was actually faster than it (which I doubt is possible). It will go along side it much like 1p & 2p runs of the same game.

1) I think a lot of people are seeing the 1 frame improvement and ASSUMING it is the same movie. Look closer. The third level (that has the improvement), looks noticeably different due to the new strategy incorporated in order to achieve this result. This is done by timing your jump to affect the distance between each ball. Randil sets up a small chain reaction that results in one extra set of "close together" balls so he can make one less jump. 2) Also, this is the ONLY frame of improvement left in the game. If someone improved, let's say a sonic or megaman game by 1 frame, it would be highly suspect since it is quite likely there are further improvements. 3) It was no easy task to get that one frame imrovement. I and at least 2 others tried and failed to improve phil's movie. I tried level 3 in particular, because I suspected that it was possible to jump 1 less time. I failed, Randil succeeded. I must congratulate him on that :) 4) Vatchern, Phil's Donkey kong run is a 1 frame improvement over arc's previous submission. 5) I like Maximus' point. I think this is in the spirit of good competition and will not breed contempt.

I'm wondering if you were forced to put the minisub in the top right, was there no way to get it on the bottom right or bottom left spots?
I really have no control over it. Manipulating the sub couldn't happen without consequently manipulating the bonus pt drops I got. On the upside, that location was about 1.5 sec quicker than the one in ziplock's movie.

*stuff about not getting pts*
30,000 pts are necessary for getting the submarine. The submarine allows me to hit jaws with bombs instead of harpoons. Bombs are 2x as powerful. Therefore mucho time saved.

Best TAS moment I have seen in a long time: A guys says: "Matic is in the room over there. However, we can't open this unless we destroy the two systems somewhere" Afterwards, you proceed to glitch right through the door! Holy awesomeness :D Anyway, Good TASes do something unexpected. This run certainly qualifies as such. I will be accepting this for publication.

Batman 2 - return of the joker Cabal 2-player I can't think of any others NES games that would make good runs.

You seem to be right. The frame count on phil & g's .fmv file was 12291. I have never seen that before, weird.

Phil's submission text wrote:
Veni, vidi, vici. This movie is 1 frame faster than Arc's latest submission for a total of 4667 frames. Normally, it should be 2 frames faster since I did 1 frame faster at stage 2 but due to some stupid 11 frames rule it cancels that advance.
It was a 1 frame improvement to the previously submitted run (that wasn't yet published).

Randil's frame count: 12261 Phil & G's recent publication: 12161 Explain. I assume you didn't end input as early. That should probably be fixed.

had I found 1 frame of improvement, I would have submitted my run rather than hexing this one. If it makes you feel any better Phil was quite confident no improvement could be made ;p Also, it isn't stealing if the movie is short and near perfect already. If you are damn sure it is the last frame of improvement (I am) then it is ok. There is precedent, such as Phil donkey kong submission.

Yes, I used the jaws fight as a substitute for a regular encounter. They are identical except for the obvious inclusion of jaws. At level 1, I do very little damage do jaws and he regenerates some hp after each encounter. It is impossible for me to do enough damage to overcome that regeneration. I shoot him because that give me 20pts per hit and I need 14,600 points by the end of that encounter in order to have enough for submarine after the bonus scene.

Not that it really matters, but I saved 1 frame on the level where you jump on balls. Each jumps wastes 1 frame, and by making one less jump, I finished 1 frame faster. Yay for big improvement! :) Besides that improvement, all other levels are exactly as fast, so yes, this run is most likely very much optimized.
You have to be kidding me. I tried to improve this run, had I known about the improvement I would have published this hex edit. I must admit I am skeptical, do have an .fcm?

Any controller 2 input is accedental. I worked on this off and on while working on my contra 2p run. So the 2nd player input may have been enabled and assigned to the same keys as player 1 at some point.

I assume that is from the frame rate difference. famtasia=60, fceu=60.1-ish

1 year ago (Jan 1 2006) our submission queue was about 120 submissions. Nearly all were undeceded. A dozen or so were submissions from 2004. At least 1 was more than 1 1/2 years old. Today (Jan 1 2007) the current submission queue is: total submissions: 41 total accepted: 32 total new/undecided: 9 oldest submission: 306 days (submitted: July 30 2006) We have come a long way this past year. I would like to see the community come together and see to it that Jan 1 2008 is even better. While this resolution is primarily for judges/publishers other can help as well. More people watching and voting on submissions will help make easier/better decisions by judges.
