If a website in a language I didn't speak well took a TAS I made with the intent of entertaining people, I'd be flattered, especially if I were properly credited.
In fact, now that I think about it, if my TAS was singled out among all others as an example of cheating I'd be kind of flattered too...
Now, if either of these sites started making a lot of money as a result of using my work, then I'd be pretty pissed.

I enjoyed this... though not familiar with the game the goal seems intuitive and so the solutions looked creative and clearly tool assisted. I do wonder what the first twenty levels are like and what a 2 player run would look like.

This seems to suffer from the same issues as other WarioWare games from a TAS perspective... there's not really anything you can do to speed it up. On the plus side, so far it looks like each micro game is completed as soon as it comes up :)
Are there the bonus mini-games like skateboarding in the original one? Those might be more promising.

Kind of like fake "authentic" antiquities or whatnot... as long as the forger is good enough to fool everyone, it's inherent value is no different than a genuine article. Just another example of how perception is reality, not the other way around :)

Well, that's why I went with sonnet... but I doubt even a single couplet or single line from a sonnet would be reproduced by our greatest contemporary writers. And I'm all for credit where credit is due, don't get me wrong, but I don't think input files can be lumped in with other creative work. But now I'm beating a dead horse, so I will just say that I do see the other point of view and hope that maybe others can see mine.

The difference to me is that key input for "fastest time" can be generated in a "mathematical/scientific" fashion. If I try to, say, write a sonnet, there is realistically zero probability that I or a thousand monkeys typing will reproduce Shakespeare or any other sonnet. Whereas if I were to try to beat King's Bounty as quickly as possible, there is a high likelihood that I would reproduce the input file we have here.
That said, I do agree with you that it is not courteous to publish something someone made without asking, and I do appreciate your attitude and actions in dealing with this submission (ie taking a nice middle of the road approach).
Oh, and voting yes now :D

I'm sorry, but I don't see a movie input file as a creative work, but as a solution. True, it does take creativity, but in no way can you really "own" a set of key strokes that could be generated again through someone trying to achieve the same goal. For example (to take the extreme), King's Bounty. Theoretically it is as fast as possible since all "reasonable" shorter inputs were tested. Someone could independently write a program to generate the exact same input to beat the game as fast as possible.
True, for most movies there are some "optional" inputs that do not effect the desired goal. But still, I don't think anyone can really claim "ownership" on them.
I do think that it is kind of rude to submit someone else's work, but FF seems to have had somewhat of a reason.
Well, if we never hear from veup, I can always experiment with changing the last couple of pieces and submit it as my own work :)
Er, oh yeah, I guess this is kind of off topic, sorry, but thought I'd throw in my 1 cent, instead of just sticking with snide one-liners.
The movie is a good one! I hope it is published!

I like how the forums name would be renamed. I prefer older first, because it will be confusing I think. The order on the emulator board will be different than the order of the runs board.
In any case, I prefer older first.
Actually PSX is first in the Games section now... which continues to freak me out every time I see it after it being NES for so long. In any event, I rarely go to the main page unless I'm starting a new thread or searching for some long lost one... I usually just lurk on the recent posts page :P So I guess I don't care that much.
Consistency between the two will be nice though!

In deference to the fact that this site used to be called nesvideos, I think if this option is used it should be ascending, so NES can be on top (until we get Atari 2600 rerecording)

It's pretty close, and I didn't test with memory addresses, but in the same amount of time it took to punch and cool down Bowser is able to normal walk just slightly less of a distance. Haven't gotten to the Bowser Roll yet :)

It seems that Bowser's dash punch (or whatever it's called) is slightly faster than walking when done perfectly. So that will be annoying to watch :D Plus all the cut scenes. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to a run... though it's been fun to play so far.
