"Taking the normal exit in 5-1 - This sacrifices a musicbox, saves a P-wing for another level, keeps firepower for the fortress, and avoids using a star in 5-7. It would have gaine a few seconds overall, but due to hammer brother placement on World 5, it is not possible to avoid them without using a musicbox because the tower is considered the same as a pipe, which the hammer brothers will not move onto."
This was taken from the smb3 warpless TAS comments.
for 5-1...
Now, would going through the wall into the little area with the water and going down the pipe make sense? It would save a pwing and you could also get the musicbox. I'm not sure about this, but it seems like a good idea to me.

concreteman - 1:24.66. I'm waiting for Trevor to post the way he does it, I know I must be missing something. Also, my 1:24 time definately should have been a 1:23. :(
Is anyone working to make a rom of this game or something?
I want to be #1 for concreteman. I don't own a wii though. I still think I'll get it sometime.

Very well done! You gave me a few more ideas that I want to test now. I've been meaning to test a few things anyway.
I really liked 3-2, I didn't realize that the bullet-bill flagpole glitch doesn't need to have an enemy involved to work :)
I still am going to call it the bullet bill flagpole glitch though.
EDIT: suggestion: try using the flying fish in level 2-3 to do what you did in 3-2.

I thought that this could be beaten a lot quicker. (not criticizing the movie, I haven't watched it yet)
Am I wrong? I can't seem to remember that last (rejected) oot submission's time.

Essentially I'd like to see how much needs to be saved throughout the course of the whole warp run.
Number of frames needed in each section for an improvement:
1-1 section 1:
1-1 section 2:
1-1 section 3:
1-2:
4-1:
4-2 section 1:
4-2 section 2:
8-1:
8-2: 18 frames needed
8-3:
8-4 section 1:
8-4 section 2:
8-4 section 3:
8-4 section 4:
8-4 section 5: 1 frame needed

uhh, idk getting pushed by the corners, I'm not sure if it works, but people keep mentioning the idea of it.
EDIT: yeah, I'm all smb'd-out as well. Maybe I'll test more thins later.

I can't see a way I would save 18 frames. :/
I'd like to see how many frames the run needs to be improved by to get the full 21 for each level/section of the game.
So, who's up for some corner boosting?

So if the bullet bill came out the earliest possible, which it most likely cant, then the 21 frames would be beaten. that looks unlikely, I'm still trying though.

yeah, if I'm understanding correctly.
I moved mario to the right side of the screen and then jumped into the left side of the koopa just as it appeared on the screen.

I made the koopa move the wrong direction by getting hit (if you didn't realize.) If you watched the video.
I'm not sure if it's possible without getting hit like that. I hope I can find something.

I don't think I've ever seen that happen. If it could, I'd like to see if happen at the end of 8-2. I'm not really sure how you could make that happen, possibly the speed and time you enter the given area?
If Mario is big, his space horizonatally takes up more room correct? Could big mario reach a flagpole 1-2 frames faster because of his size? Could fireworks be avoided in 8-3 when doing the flagpole glitch if he were big? I bet the spawn point puts big mario back to the same place as small mario, but maybe not?
I would test these all myself, but I can't seem to get the flagpole glitch to even work (besides in 8-2.)
EDIT: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/363851670/koopaflagpoletest.fcm
I couldn't get the right flagpole glitch to work, but I'm sure I could have with better positioning. I think there are about 5 levels where this could be done, and could be faster for a warpless run.

So today I was playing super mario world on console. I went into the first castle and the "L" button got stuck down, I hit the controller to get it to stop doing that and then played the level normally (speedrunning it) and the screen did not scroll to the right. It was just odd, but I'm wondering if I could duplicate it. Maybe it could be of some use (if it's not just a hardware issue)
EDIT: nevermind, It's just that I didn't hear the scrolling noise because I was paying attention to the controller button. The screen doesn't scroll when your on the edge.

Another, but most likely slower idea would be to get a mushroom and then jump in back of the turle and get hit causing the turtle to turn around and walk towards the flagpole. I'm sure this would be easiuer to do, but I bet the amount of time wasted would be very large.
EDIT: So to improve the warp run, would doing the flagpole glitch while facing to the left be any faster? What about entering walls facing to the left?

Considering how long the current bullet bill method taikes to set up, I'm pretty sure this would take less time to set up and more time could be saved. I cannot seem to get it to work.
EDIT: I'm going to keep trying this though. Maybe I'll be able to manage.
I mean, I figured this would save time and I think it should work, but I still can't do it. For a 100% run, there are a few levels where you could actually pull this off and possibly save time.

I'd like to see your first (right?) TAS completed. Don't worry if I'd make it before you. I won't do that, again, I think. :)
heh, well I still think there's some way to improve smb. I doubt I'll finish the TAS I was working on, I'm pretty bad at TASing besides the fact that I'm pretty good at finding the glitches.
If AnS is working on Werewolf right now, I'd certainly be willing to give him some information I know ;)
