Yeah, can someone test to see if you can go down a pipe running at full speed and then get killed by an enemy because the hitbox kept traveling forward. The only case where I could see that occurring would be in a level with a lakitu. 4-1 would be a good candidate.

I bet they had some difficulty with getting the hitbox right on mario without messing up the "solid collision box" or something. possibly? haha... if you went down a pipe and there was an enemy in the air, where mario's hitbox travels, would you die?

tested on consolle: yes, you can get killed by the invisible pirahna plant in the water area of 8-4. Interestingly, that has never happened to me during a normal gameplay. Also, I would like to see what the hammer's hitboxes look like. It might make it easier for my speedruns.

I'm doubting that I'll actually finish this TAS. I should start working on this again, but it will need to be redone after I finish the game. (There are many mistakes in the beginning.)

Some improvement ideas on Werewolf. fcm file Level3 starts 682 frames faster (~11seconds) than current movie. I know that my level 2 can be played a little faster. I think that those anger powerups might save time on the Werewolf boss since you deal double damage with it on. and instead use the lifedraining attack on the giant head boss that guards him and get the upgrade there. This game can be improved maybe 20 seconds.
I started TASing this game pretty recently, but I didn't see that this had been posted. Now, i have even more revision to do. So far my strategies are very similar to this video. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish this TAS though. At the start of level 3 I'm about 13 seconds faster due to a new glitch that I found, but I still have about 2 seconds of mistakes from what tafatt posted here. So there is still much improvement that can be made.

Definately waiting for an improvement of this. Once you have that all figured out, will it actually be the fastest it can be? I guess there's still no way to tell.

Well, my name is very uncommon. Andrew Gardikis. Although, I found someone named "Andy Gardikas" I don't know of anyone with the same exact name as me. I should do a search.

I had an interesting thought today, but I don't think it will work. Well me and a few others were talking about resetting different games and how it could save time and so of course I thought of smb. I remembered long ago while playing smb that if I got to world 8, died 3 times, reset the game, and then held A while I begin the game again, that it would send me to world 8. If there was a way to trick the game into thinking that you had already been to a certain world then reset the game and hold A, the game time might be possible to be cut in half if someone found a way to skip straight to world 8 using the "hold A at the beginning of the game trick". This was just a thought that popped into my head, maybe we can trick the game somehow, but I kind of doubt it, although I thought this was a very interesting idea.

*folds* I think this is impossible. Good luck guys, I might try this off and on, but it doesn't look like it's happening.

Interesting, you could possibly go through one block like that to get accross. This was my first idea. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1981848887/mario%204-3%20strat.fcm I haven't been able to duplicate what I've done, but I was able to bounce off one koopa and then bounce off the next one in mid-air. This is a fialed attempt. I haven't tested this method out a ton, it could have potential.

Sorry, but I didn't quite understand your sentence. ^^' Can you rephrase it please?
Sorry, I was in a hurry. Well basically I was trying to do the "make the koopa walk on thin air glitch" by jumping to the top of the screen as the koopa falls to its death at the bottom of the screen. So basically, when the koopa falls into that one block gap, get to the very top of the screen right above that spot and stomp it from the top of the screen to make that glitch work. EDIT: sorry, I couldn't do what I was trying to do, I had to keep editing this post. :/

I mixed this with the turning around faster trick (pressing left/right one frame) for maximum distance. My plan was to use the first small pit right in the beginning for the koopa in air trick. But it's another failed attempt...

Although I am not very interested in speedwalks, this 4-3 brain-teaser however attractes me. Is there any way to warp from the left side of screen to the right side without using ivy? (A silly question?)
Yeah, this is an interesting challange which is why I'm trying to figure it out. I really like the concept of not pressing B, it's silly. I don't think it's possible to warp like that without the use of a vine, otherwise I think we'd have much faster smb runs ;) If we could figure out a way to do that, it would be remarkable. EDIT: 1 frame B press failed attempt. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/959519784/mario.fcm I thought that might work, but I didn't test to see if mario's head could collide with a koopa when in that position. I think if I could get hit while in the air, that would probably work.

There's two red koopas on that mushroom right? what you left one shell on the left side then knocked the other shell into it, would it bounce back and then be able to hit you?
Unfortunately that's not how it would work. The shell would just destroy the other shell rather than bouncing back. I can't think of any way to get hit while jumping, I do want to know something though. I think the fiery-small mario glitch would work if you pressed B for one frame after jumping over the large gap while right next to a the koopa on the right. (Mario appears to become larger when you press B with firepower) Although even with this, you may not have enough distance to clear the gap. I'm trying to recall any other weird glitches that could be useful for this situation.

I've been trying that for a while now, I cannot seem to do it. My idea was to be big mario, jump onto one of the koopas to bounce upward while I hit the other shell forward. That sounds like a setup/timing nightmare, but possible. When you say you couldn't do it, do you mean the timing was off, or you still can't get enough distance to mustache jump?
Well, when trying it with an emulator for about an hour, I couldn't manage to do what I planed. I came somewhat close, but yes, I could not seem to get enough distance. Another method I thought of was to do the small-fiery mario glitch and have that ability while in 4-3. Then just jump right over to the platform to the right, get hit while in the air in order to grow, and then mustache jump to victory. If there was a way to get hit mid-jump, then this method should be possible.
