So uh... Now if someone ever submits a run and beats my record, I'll have to wonder if it was tool assisted. :o

I usually do a console speedrun of a game before I TAS it. I'm not the usual...

What is the difference between having this run and me TASing Mario Paint and drawing 80 detailed pictures?

@warp^ I wouldn't have enjoyed watching this new version very much even if it were the first version. Main reason being the pace of the run. I agree with pepness 100% on this. Basically, that's exactly my reasoning on rejecting this run.

If the author is trying to improve upon his previous work, why is it a problem that some are the same?
With a run that offers the amount of variety that it does, why does it need to be improved if hardly any new material is added? and especially when it makes the TAS longer. EDIT: Thing is, I could care less about the actual art seen in the TAS (no offense). it's really good work, I'm just not into that kinda thing. The first TAS I liked a lot because of the novelty of it. But not only because of that. This new run just takes too long drawing some of the pictures, sure it's better work, but I don't see why that makes it better. I liked that the previous run would sometimes draw so quickly and it was just more amusing. Also the progression, I enjoyed how the last TAS ended with a very complex drawing when most of the other ones were a bit simpler

Voting no. Reason: In this case, I preferred quantity over quality in some ways. Also, it had a very similar (if not the same opening). I feel like you could have either done something a bit more interesting with this, and the main part of the run. I probably wouldn't feel this way if I hadn't watched the first TAS, but some of the drawings are the same (a lot of them?).

I speedran this quite a bit on console. There is one thing that might be a time saver. In level 2, the part where you have to wait for the wall to fall down so you can cross... If you kill yourself in a very specific way, I think it might be possible to save time overall here. Anyway, definite yes. This run is a difficult one to improve.

"Super Mario Bros 2 is one of our most competed games. This movie is Aglar and Angrewg's improvement of 10.73 seconds over adelikat and Cardboard's attempt to perfect this route." Just wanted to mention that. heh EDIT: I forgot I could edit that myself. *text edited* Also, thanks everyone for the speedy publication!

You will notice that with almost every game I decide to TAS, I also have the unassisted speedrun record. I generally TAS the game I'm currently doing a console speedrun of ;) hint hint. It's just the way it works out. If I find a cool new game, I like to TAS it and speedrun it together. (Ghoul School and Werewolf) Also, thanks for all the complements. This TAS took quite a bit of work. I did a ton of testing and Aglar's optimizations are insane.

LOL @ the people voting no. This run will never be improved again, you can quote me on that. If you don't know me, let's just say I know more than the average person about this game ;)

YES! :) I haven't played that much of this game, but of what I have played, this game is certainly difficult. The TAS makes it look like a cake walk haha.

If the level end is triggered by music - Would it be possible to use this glitch to get the music to start playing earlier?
possibly? I'm not sure really. When I did this glitch I essentially paused and reset the game at the same time... or one right after the other, not sure which order. I'm not sure if it could work on the emulator, it might be something with the NES, but likely not considering all the things I've seen work on emu now. It's probably worth testing. I tried to duplicate it on emulator and I couldn't get it to work. No idea how it happened. Just a series of pausing at the title screen, and a reset while in the underground area.

I really want to see a TAS, as "fastest 999999". Not is if is could you reach that score, but it will be possible?
Honestly, fastest time to reach 9,999,950 would be more entertaining, and likely faster... actually, you could probably roll the score to 0 quicker thaqn what is seen here. ;) I didn't like this idea though. Sorry Happylee!

Easy, make the final flagpole overflow the 999,999 counter.
Perhaps this was intended to be tongue-in-cheek. But this would obviously not be within the spirit of "lowest score." Any reasonable person would include the aggregation of points regardless of the number of times the score rolled over...
No, I was being serious. Make the score counter overflow to zero. If it is zero, it is truly zero. It doesn't have to make sense.
The problem is, even after PlayerScore resets, TopScore remains being high, because the game updates TopScore each frame. Even if at the end you get 0000000 (yes, there's 7 digits, but highest digit is masked by space when it's zero), after returning to title screen you'll see 9999950 or whatever score you had before overflow. That doesn't count as "truly zero"! Here's example movie: http://shedevr.org.ru/temp/sound/smb-score.fm2
Didn't see this... Well, it would be 0 technically... or you could just say "fastest time to 10,000,000pts" which would be more impressive than 0 anyway. haha Also, you could also finish with just 300 point by game overing in world 8 and using the "return to the last world you were in" trick. But That probably would be seen as an in-game "cheat"

There is fastest completion AND other categories of the same game for a reason. The fastest completion might not always be the most entertaining one, but it's cool to see what the limits of the game end up becoming. Really though, has it lost entertainment value? Not really, I mean had you never watched a TAS of Mario64 before, I think you'd be entertained by this run. You guys have just watched too many iterations of essentially the same thing. The funny thing is that this TAS brought a bunch of new tactics all together. The improvement wasn't even a small improvement either. Back 2 years ago, people thought SM64 wouldn't be improved by another second either.

Is it physically impossible to go through the door in the sky at the very beginning of the game? What I've tried is getting the magic door, then veggie on the head after going back through the door, then ladder warping at the 1st ladder to the top right corner of the very beginning, jumping with princess and throwing the veggie and hovering for a moment to land on it (As if i was on land) to open the door. Any input?
I hacked the rom once and edited it so that I could stand where that door was. I can't quite remember the result... either I couldn't enter OR actually... I seem to remember it sending me back to the character select (or nearly), but then the game froze or something. I'm pretty sure that's what happened. It was nothing special at all though.
