What I mean is, limit breaks can be 'skipped' without any glitch. For instance, Aeris can acquire 2-1 by killing 80 enemies. 1-2 is acquired by using 1-1 six times. So one could skip 1-2 by not using 1-1. If Aeris kills 80 enemies, it will skip 1-2 and go straight to 2-1. And I made a mistake when quoting brutalal's information. 2-2 is able to be skipped, 2-1 is not. Fury Brand is unlocked after using Breath of the Earth seven times. new: Slots on Demons Gate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj9gyOu1-kY It's fast. I'm leaning towards using it. This video is just an example. brutalal informed me that limits can be skipped naturally it seems 2-2 cannot be skipped within the game's mechanics though how good is your memory? :p

idk, brutalal is creating a luck calculator. TotA: luck plus takes <1s (a glitch is used to get it fast) base luck is worthless until tifa's level is beyond the threshold (28+ or something) double exp from bosses = at least twice the battle length it has been used only once against Gi, as the boss is so quickly defeated.

so there is a glitch where starting a new game has cloud with his limit level 3? do you remember if you used soft-reset at anytime (start+select+shoulder buttons) before these glitches happened? there might be some evidence that soft-reset has a role in this

it seems map zoning only works on the pc version it was briefly tested in 2009 the issue is that only certain types of sequences can be skipped by entering the menu: random encounters in fields and midgar zolom scene (so far)

i think tifa would need a level of 30+ to get over 22 base luck something like that critical against bosses becomes naturally possible in the speed run anyway

Does one of those not hit multiple targets at once whereas the other just a single target?
yep
Occasionally in a save file you will skip a whole level of limit breaks and so get either 1 or both level 3 limits. Sometimes (rarest condition) you start the game with all of theM
the only issue is that this is pretty much unconfirmed psx, emulator or pc version? gameshark codes on? scratched disc? i will mess around with some things and see what happens the open cd lid option is broken in pcsx hopefully it will work in the new emulator

im not sure how useful ultima will be i just know that ultima hits for 9999 in 10 seconds whereas tifa can hit for near double that in 5 seconds (Deathblow + critical Added cut) btw, i tested a very nice <60 second demonsgate strat

Gold Saucer is not worth it. W-item is also probably not worth it. We can get double EXP from any boss, but it means the boss fight will take almost twice as long.

in terms of base luck, the maximum is around 22 so only extra luck from items and materia can help maybe 2 for red dragon, 1 for palmer i was joking about w-item. it would probably take too long to get limitations? it can duplicate any item/equip up to 99

there is some random aspect of a joining character's stats gold saucer seems slow i think it might be faster to get w-item and use the glitch to duplicate power/luck sources :p it may be worth getting the luck plus materia in the temple of the ancients, although i have no idea how long that may take amulet is another high source of luck (buy from mideel, luck +10)

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't deathblow optional as well, I thought there was a crit hit alternative that could be better, it just needs more luck stat, of which there is at least two easy to get +1 lucks, and maybe level manip. is possible to get more as well. It seemed most of the bosses where right on the cusp of zero probability, thus getting a small boost in luck early could tide you over for the rest of the game.
According to wikia:
Luck Source can only be found once in Junon
Yes, there is a critical hit alternative that is better (1.5x stronger). I believe for Red Dragon, Tifa will need 2 increases of luck and 2 increases in level. Deathblow might be needed as I don't know if this strategy would work against DGate (very high level).

The guides I've seen indicate that Slots is acquired by making Cait Sith kill 40 enemies. Are these guides in error?
it's entirely possible that this website is incorrect: i dont know the true requirement

aiming for lowest in-game time or not needs to be decided the pause glitch allows for superior enemy and critical hit manipulation, it may increase or decrease the real-time battle length depending on the circumstance

I'm beginning to think whether getting Slots is worth it or not. The current consensus is that it would save time, but "not very much". I will test how long it will take to acquire Slots, and how much time it could theoretically save. Slots is acquired by using Dice 8 times. Slots will not be necessarily faster than Tifa-deathblow in every situation. So there is the possibility that I could have both without sacrificing too much on entertainment. According to my crude estimation, Slots could save up to 13 minutes (in boss battles). This is not taking into account the time it takes to acquire it or build up Cait's limit break though, as I do not know how long this will take. I guess it would be easy to manipulate a boss into attacking Cait, thus filling his limit bar. My other crude estimation allows pause-glitch abuse to save 7 minutes (if Slots is not used). These numbers are just from my own head though. I will have to test to get something accurate.

yes, exactly i wont use the pause glitch for the purpose of reducing the timer i will use it for RNG manipulation, if necessary

actually i don't know :p it seems everything is a trade off between speed and entertainment so far i've decided not to use: cait sith's slots (one hit kill) excessive pause glitch (to slow the timer) [the only thing annoying about this is the small 'pause' box and the sound, it doesnt slow down anything in real time] only because it makes the run less fun to watch i'm not opposed to Saving in order to get a lower time (saving resets certain values), but this is unlikely to happen unless something unexpected comes up

yes, this video was to show the worst case scenario (ie, reducing the in-game timer by as much as possible while not slowing down tifa's atb) i will only use it to manipulate the rng, atb and the victory sequence this should make its use quite minimal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVlx144XdIc Pause glitch This is what it will look like if used. It can be used to slow down in-game clock, ATB, RNG, Status ailments... Animation continues at normal speed The battle ends 4 frames earlier (we think due to the pause messing with the loading of the victory sequence, or something) Common applications may involve slowing down enemy ATB and manipulating the RNG

how do you feel about 'glitches' that mess with the in-game timer?
