Oh, thanks. I couldn't figure that out though.
I ended up doing the following. Maybe someone will find it useful:
Installed flexget to watch the rss feed
Used the Prowl notification plugin to automatically update my iphone (via push notification [prowl app]) when a new movie is published
flexget is very powerful and Prowl is great if you have an iphone

I have to pick up the item in Aeris' garden. I think it takes around 10 seconds.
Actually, about the same amount of grenades are used. Critical hits don't do much damage. The optimal strats use mostly grenades.

If you can manipulate your starting stats, I'm sure you can manipulate the stats gained on level up.
Level up stats can be easily manipulated, but it is a complex process to make sure that they are always at their highest threshold. Instead, I just manipulate them for what I need in the upcoming boss battles.
Also, I notice you accept one random battle before Aps, and two before Reno. Are these not avoidable?
Technically, all random battles are avoidable. It is sometimes slower to avoid them.

It's easy to get into the position where the buggy gets stuck on the edge. I have not been able to glitch it though.
GarlandG FAQ
Q: Just how fast is it possible to beat the game?
A: With near-perfect execution and close to maximum luck manipulation, it is
possible to beat the game in less than 7 hours and 45 minutes. Theoretically,
you can get closer to the 7:30 mark, but that would require strategies with
such low odds, it's no longer realistic. A TAS could probably get below 7:30.
There's a desync problem. Something I did at 56 minutes caused it to desync at 23 minutes.
EDIT:
Officially saved by tas movie editor v0-12-2i
current: Reno defeated
next: Shinra HQ
videos will be posted tomorrow (modified reactor 2 -> Aeris -> wall market -> aps|sewer -> top of tower|reno etc)

I'm not using a browser. This is through utorrent.
I have tested this on 3 different systems (Linux, Windows XP and 7) and the same thing happens on all of them.

We are still working on a precise explanation for the repeating battle. It seems to be caused by the glitches that are used in the run.
