I think it's more important to figure out how the route is going to work then waste time on finding a cheat code that only one person will use.

Anyone knows if Shovel Knight can be TASed in Hourglass? Everyone and their grandma is speedrunning it atm, so it seems a good choice.
If you can disconnect it from steam, then possibly.

Well, first thing to do would be to do some tests to see how an enemy's attack pattern changes (such as waiting a few frames in or out of battle, using different attacks, etc.)

I'm actually a bit busy with a different project currently, so I'll get to redoing Jenka's Nightmare once I finish it. I'm more then happy to start creating a route in the meantime for when I'm open/other peeps wanting to give it a shot. Not being able to skip the Labyrinth means Super Missiles are viable again.

So since my old computer kind of.....died....and stuff, I figured I would resume progress on this. Link to video WIP 1, redone once again. Things to note:
Combo Lag Skipping ----------------------------------------- Normally when you use a combo you need to wait a little bit before you can attack again. However, certain abilities allow you to completely skip this lag, which saves a lot of frames. Things that have this property include jumping and most attack commands, so it's usually best to use one of those directly after attacking. Aerial Combo Chain ---------------------------------------- An extension of Combo Lag Skip. If you jump and use aerial attacks, you can skip most combo lag and lets you decimate most foes with a barrage of combos. This also has the added benefit of what aerial combos already give you, such as being harder to hit and having a 'swooping' finisher that can easily hit multiple enemies at once. Route Change ----------------------- Originally, I selected items in a setup that game me a Sliding Dash and a Fire. Recently, though, it was discovered that you can get a Sliding Dash and Quick Blitz by selecting different items, which is much better, as the Quick Blitz shares the combo lag skipping properties of the Slide Dash as well. Touch Menu ----------------------------- The touch menu can be used to manipulate the camera and select things such as menu options. This is only really used when the location is in an awkward position that the normal 8 directions doesn't accurately cover, so it only saves a tiny bit of time over the course of the run. Faster Darkside -------------------------------- Careful tracking of Sora's Overclock gauge during the first phase means the second phase goes by faster. The third phase is also faster due to a new discovery that lets me attack him with combos a lot earlier then normal.

Yes, those are the options. Good summary. :)
Milk Road > Palace > SoS > Fairy Magic.
Nah. You can only exit clock town through the east gate. The fairy is right there. It would be stupid not to get it on the way.
Testing it all sounds fun...
You are welcome to do some. ;D

Thank you for the answer :) I'm no TASer, just a nooby spectator of all the great work done here.
No worries. I'm no TASer either, I mean you saw what crap I tased together up there. :D I just thought I was clear. Guess not. To get SoS you just walk up to the stone slab and press A and the deku pipes will come out, wether you have the ocarina or not.

So collecting rupees, going to milk road and still making it to clock tower before midnight is possible. Obviously I didn't bother to manipulate all the rupees a real TAS would, but I did two spins per grass patch, which should be enough. Also, now that we don't need close to 200 rupees anymore (157 should be enough) only two patches on the second trip seems realistic. Manipulation will take a little longer than two normal spins, but this isn't very optimised. So with more optimisation it should still be very much possible to make it to the clock tower before midnight. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4fxrYIdZiY BKM (desyncs at second banker): https://mega.co.nz/#!iYoEkBCK!NWIO_Rh0UUaDQmfD4PCRQApYqeEiEHD60-2mhaT8pyc Interesting things to note: - While selecting how many rupees to deposit into the bank alternating between direction and neutral is one frame faster than just pressing the direction. - The banker has some quicktexts that are only about 6 characters long. In normal play you would hardly even notice it, but it does save a few frames. - Somthing about entering milk road and exiting it is desyncy. This is now the second TAS that desynced there and had to be fixed. - Savesates don't seem to be perfect in bizhawk, as desyncing movies do sync from states. Still, only two desyncs means it's a hell of a lot better than mupen.

Also, at the end of the Gaudskateer part, you probably could have ended the fight slightly earlier than you did. Since you have to fly up three blocks to exit the room, it's a safe bet that you'd be able to move horizontally by a tile or two without losing time.
It seems like I went a bit far, but that was the soonest I could end the fight while still reaching the edge.

I'm not sure why you're waiting for the sandcrocs around 7:30?
I need to damage boost from them. The last croc in particular was slow because I needed to make sure Quote's jump didn't get clipped.

Link to video This one took a while. Things to note: *I take a detour to get the Blade. It is the most powerful weapon I can get in this run, since I'll be skipping the Super Missiles. *I take damage at Frenized Toroko to avoid wasting shots. *The Blade deals 16 damage over 2 frames at level 2, which is incredibly powerful if you can get close to an enemy. *I take a smaller detour to get the Missiles. They do a little more damage then the Blade, but they do it much more gradually. They'll primarily be used to hit targets before they're in reach of the Blade. *The Booster 0.8 has exactly 50 frames of fuel. By pressing it every other frame, I can extend it to about 100 frames. *Sand Crocs can be boosted from without taking any damage. *I kill Deconstructor as I'm heading to the door. It may seem slower, but getting to the door is much more important.
