Ok ok, so I watched again the any% and trying to figure the con and pro for that new money trick, it might be worth in the end to use it; -supposly you dont have any jewels, thats sort of a problem, might be solved by drops alltho im not completly sure how/where without loosing too much time. -you gain a fair ammount of frames from avoiding kills before Library; no more money needed, this is critical in the tas as any kill have a huge impact on big toss later on, supposly you could gain back some toss from the older movie, as you would be lower lvl at clock tower, this is extremly hard to predict and require heavy testings. -lower level at Dracula mean lower stats; the medusa spell may need an extra cast, the guardian may need extra trowable but you could also buy better ones. -more boomrangs; you could climb easier the reverse chapel/clock tower, likely a big time saver there (avoid using trust sword for exemple), you could also have several different movements to use. While watching the movie it is pretty obvious to me the biggest part to whore/shave frames off is in the Library, the huge issue about it is luck manipulation, mixed with lag frames from psxjin. This whole problem would be eliminated with that new trick, alltho; you would require to know exactly how many boomerang to buy :p Having access to tickets/mushroom is also a big one; no more worry about maxing ATT stat, under poison you can dive kick the guys in keep without killing them too quick, may not work with balloon pod tho. Its definitly worth a try at least, but theres some unknow paramaters and its a lot of work for saving small times (may end up big alltogether...), ill try to have a look at it when I got some free time.

By low%relic maybe you mean something like this? Link to video It would be incredibly complicated to tas, long and boring movie at normal speed, always thought it would be a nice april fool. Not sure how the mana regen matter much, the whole thing is surely impossible to match without heavy rerecording or savestates. Otherwise the only reason I never did low% tas is the inherent slowness of the wolf levitation, and indeed relic-wise its only 3 relics for any% wich is the lowest youll get at such speed, so its almost same result just slower.

Erhm, probly a very late answer but, this could mean that the actual glitch is about having 2 concurrent speech rather than say a graphical overflow coming out of the sword animation, thats interresting, and maybe you could do that with any familliar? or anything that produce a voice-over on demand... For the any% the main issue to optimize further is same than any other good quality movie on the site, you have to trade a sequence with another that would improve signifiently the run; either increase your move speed or reduce the actual distance to the goal, for that movie everything is going on so insanly smooth and its so straight forward unless its a total new warping technique I dont see it happening, thats or frame whoring (at a high level of bitching...). Theres another movie published on the site [1592] PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "all relics, best ending" by arukAdo in 57:20.60 Its "All Relics & Best Ending" and its improvable by fair marging, not exactly sure if it would fit or not to use that new trick, it could probly increase the speed, yet im not sure by itself it would increase the quality of the movie; its more a glitch fest/showoff movie than a "perfect" tas. The pacifist movie was rejected, doubt it would have help a lot to get accepted by then but maybe if the movie was much shorter ... #3201: arukAdo's PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "Pacifist" in 28:48.67 Ah, one reason I didnt glitched the bat floor directly like shown on your video is an hidden movie goal; wanted to keep HR uses to a minimun, like "fake" kills (2). Theres probly dozen ways to go faster by having more "fake" kills, more shiftlines or wolf levitate, but that fairy money trick could cut a huge back'n'forth for sword card, thats sure.

Not sure where it wasnt clear enought; none of those build should be used for tasing, either poorly implemented or very buggy but you aint gonna make a decent tas with them, the main reason you see progenitor videos are segmented is because of this, its definitly "possible" but its going to be absurdly difficult right now. Youll need to wait the crew does implement something better on later revision of pcsx2, 1.0 actually looks like to be a good candidate (good compatibility and performances as well)

with progenitor i dunno what is possible or not, all those bugs arent in pcsx2-rr (acmlm), ive been able to sync the first colossus but it aint go farther, there are some huge problems with savestates and such so its a waste overall

Thx but its fine i managed to get one working from an older pcsx2 release. Theres several issues that arent in acmlm code, and code base seem to be older, one thing that make it unbearable is after a few dozen loadstate it bug out and load become save and vice versa. Not to sound like an asshole but its even more garbage to me than acmlm, its not usable either way, and probly impossible to make a full tas, aside from broken states i didnt noticed any better syncing, actually it felt worse.

Probly beating an old horse already but, I like this change, its going into the right direction (imo), the bad/good game choice restriction was kinda ... how to say gently... un-adapted to the gigantic library tasers are facing nowaday, im not sure how many games tasing emulators are covering but if it was over 10 thousands I wouldnt be much surprised, in such equation it was getting a bit tedious to have to choose between A and B solely because of popularity or "acceptability", it surely restricted people, giving them less liberty in the end, so less creativity one way or another, I like also that you still want to make the old site spirit a priority, not just a site about "all tas" but also about the "best of the best", by making a distinction you clearly draw the line between quantity and quality; it doesnt matter much anymore but I would have vote like the vast majority, good job guys keep going :p

Should this portion be moderated if I uncancel this ? Im not sure its revelant to the next judge or the audiance FF: Im not even sure you should step down from judging this, I mean, im cool with your explanation, shit happen, sometime we can all say stuff we regret, while i dont regret the way i handled this, i would regret if you are to step down because of your answers, they can be deleted or simply ignored, maybe i did a bit exagerate myself too, but i was for sure pissed off like never, hence my reaction.

Had most of the existing runs of SotN not have existed prior to this submission, then yes, it would stand a better chance. But the fact is that these 4 runs exist. That is life, and that is a valid reason to argue against publication (it has been done before on this site). Also, the fact is that unless and until dialogs in this game are removed by the TASer (whether by proper game function or by glitch), the fact is that dialogs cannot be removed, so there is no point speculating on that.
Theres no point in speculating but thats life and i have to go along with that, i mean seriously? thats your answer? making me the moral and all... Done with tasing if thats the official answer, my life dont deserve to get that kind of obstacles, your answer is bullshit imo, wether or not it happened on the site before, thats a joke and not respectfull at all. Theres now an "order" in wich your suppose to submit your runs to maximize publications and visibility, unacceptable.

I was aiming at making a fun movie and its not perfect, this is why the unassisted (japanesse) link I provided is beating my time, but I found it usefull to use this movie as Hunk VS Tofu debate, and hear the official decision over it. I dont think Hunk + Tofu publication would be any good, its basicly the same exact thing with a different skin. Now it could be only Tofu and not Hunk, it would be great to know that before doing a real run. Edit: Another way to handle this is to put some magic in this submission by reseting the vote counter and change the votes to "Hunk" "Tofu" and "I dont care"

No, its only a mini-game. This movie need to be rejected, I was simply looking toward a confirmation that Hunk Mode was preferred over Tofu Edit: rejecting it isnt totally useless, once the hunk run is made at least there wont be a debate wether or not we should use tofu instead hunk... hence why I wasnt cancelling it, I know this run isnt perfect anyway but hopefully the judge will understand my point.

- Even though the full version is there, this run uses the demo mode. Why? Just to start closer to the end. Using the demo mode automatically makes it worth less. It's like using a password, but with the dev's arbitrary starting location and starting relics as a pretext.
If i had use the "normal" mode, then it would have been identical copy of the any% (i dont see how it would have been any interresting)
FractalFusion wrote:
- Now if there was some situation strictly intrinsic to the demo mode that allowed for a very difficult glitch to completely break the game or something, then it may have been better. But this run just uses the same out-of-bounds glitch as all the other runs use.
Im fairly certain people at the E3 demo would have call it hardcore game breaking if somebody had made his way out of the catacombs lol
FractalFusion wrote:
- There is unskippable dialog in this run. What's worse is that the way the dialog is handled only serves to draw attention to the inferiority of this version. Japanese voice acting on English text? Even more, the text is nowhere timed properly so there are long streches of silence during slow text.
Does that mean if somehow we could remove the dialogs it make it more "publishable"?
FractalFusion wrote:
- Luck mode is off. OK, that makes it different. That doesn't make it better.
I agree thats correct, my point wasnt to list whats "better", but what was different. The only thing "better" is the speed.
FractalFusion wrote:
- This run has some nice glitches, but anyone can watch the Best Ending run for all their glitch-watching needs.
I just hope this doesnt mean i could have get published if i had run E3 before 100%, because thats annoying imo.

In my opinion, this version is not worth publishing alongside the 4 existing runs, and it is obviously not obsoleting any of them either.
My personal opinion is its borderline, i dont have a strong feeling it should be published, nor rejected, hence why i didnt canceled it Thats make me wonder, how about to do 100% on the E3 ? you get more relics at start so it would make it shorter obviously

So since its not obvious, let me list the differences I can think about now: -Reaching dracula take 5 min instead 10 -The set of relic is totally different, in the published any% you get wolf+double jump, here you get bat, boots and a bunch of others stuff (changing drastically movements available, period) -You take a different route, since you spawn in a completly different area, and skip a fairly big size of the current any%. -You dont have 99 LCK (luck mode) and so you cant drop jackshit. -Stats are completly different, and you are given a set of items that you dont get in normal conditions (swords, potions, trow items ect...) -No prologue, no meeting maria, no meeting richter (well sort off...) -Some glitchs require relics that you dont have in the current any% That will be good enought for now I think.

I persist, its full, no items are missing, all bosses are present, all dialogues too, this is the japanesse release with unfinished translation and the extra demo mode. Now the demo isnt suppose to be abused like that yeah, but the other mode is definitly the full game, you can load, save ect... (even compatible with release lol)

Note that there is a full game mode available as well when you boot up this version, but once you select the demo mode, youll get "lock" inside it (for obvious reasons, or you would just have to soft reset, or game over, and access the "full" game mode directly)

Lets see; more damage taken > less boost less damage given > less kills more boss hp > longer fights savestates required (impure movie) no extra glitchs, boss or levels. Overall I would say meh.

Lets be more specific, a cutscene start as soon as the room load, it end, you get back control and can move around then another one start (and you skip it). To me this sound a lot like barry behind the door in the guardhouse, barry giving the acid rounds, or even wesker dialog(s). Now yeah if its a timed event, maybe thats the real difference.

EDIT2: Ok, there is a 1-frame window in which you have to press the start button. From what i've tested, it appears that all what's needed is this one buttonpress. Coordinates & other buttons do not matter. Also if you reenter the room without triggering the zombie FMV, the cutscene with blood gets played. So, i suppose the main reason which allows for a cutscene skip is that Barry is too far away from a blood pool. And when you exit the room, the game just puts him there, and upon reentering the cutscene is triggered. Wonder what causes him to stop in the first place.
Very interresting stuff, so for the record this game (well any psx resident evil games) is 30fps while playing, so it accept (read) input only every other frames, if the windows of oppertunity is truly 1 frame (and not 2...) this mean its determined by when you press X to open the door, trigger a menu access, pick up something, or the frame at wich you press start on main menu. In the eventually this is correct (only 1 frame), it might not be the only skipable cutscene but a bug in the scripts, if its just that one at least we wont have to bother thinking about the cutscene order, because that one you are forced to get it anyway, if others are skipable we might have to check if A is not skipable then B might be ect... (tonnes more of work...) I wasnt very motivated to redo Jill for messing around with the knife (not a large time saver), but this might be a good motivation. I havent downloaded or tryed yet your pjm, when you say director's cut, its japanesse or usa version ? the cd ID is usually simpler way to identify (SLUS ect...), it should show up directly in psxjin when opening the movie (or ill find out later anyway when i give it a go lol) This might be a good reason to switch version also, especially if it can work with others cutscenes AFAIK if you dont trigger the zombie FMV in "normal" conditions, the second cutscene with barry (blood traces) doesnt trigger, so here its double win from what you are saying :p

Pretty much, the core of our emu is crap beyond sanity levels. Our magicians made already a huge work to get psxjin in its current state, but it also depressed them since its bad code, the result is that they wont patch core stuffs but just cosmetics issues, if it was to really work on a psx emulator again, they would make a new one from scratch basicly. Its not worse than the wrestlemania topic.... Instead of rating movies just rate the members, so we can see easier when we should go away.
