Forum doesn't have ps2 games topic yet and putting it in psx topic seems wrong in a way. But anyway here was what i stumbled upon youtube when searching for newest tas videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8Z3WoQqa5Y It looks to me a possibly working rerecording tas of PS2's Phantom Brave. Now where to get the emulator is beyond me. Thoughts? Comments?

*spoilers* Can you explain how to use the microphone to blow out the candles at Summit Path? I have the microphone key hotkeyed to M button and i'm standing right in front of the candle and pressing M but nothing's happening. The microphone worked when i needed to shout out to the fortune teller.

Could i request possible features for future updates? 1. Have the option to import saved controller profiles. There are some games that doesn't allow button configurations and it also let's other people other than the user to play with their own button configurations. Some people use arrow keys for movement while other may use WASD for movement. 2. Have rewind feature. I'm playing ds games throughly to find out which games are fine for a TAS. Unfortunately even though there is save state support i don't use it much and sometimes i end up loading a state instead of saving. I lose large amounts of gameplay progress because of this. I liked how VBA rerecording has rewind. I don't know why even existing rerecording emulators(besides the ds) don't have it implemented at all. 3. Enable/disable option for displaying coordinates/axis on ds top screen. Sometimes it is annoying if you must look at the top screen to play while using the stylus on the bottom screen. The coordinates interfere with what is displayed on the top screen everytime you click on the bottom screen. 4. Possibly more hotkeys, such as like in vba, default Ctrl+1 would enable/disable background 1 and so on. Sometimes disabling backgrounds actually improves performance! (but not by much) 5. On the button and hotkey configuration menu, make it so that it distinguishes between left and right Shift buttons. There will be more requests later but these are the only one i can come up with. You don't really have to do any of them, they are just suggestions. So far good work on the DS emulator. I'm liking it alot because the sound quality is way better than no$gba, plus save state is always a good thing to use.

I don't know if this helps but here is a video of a rather strange attack that i encountered while fighting protoman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHm1fFTkoyk Here is the movie file for further proof. No cheats or anything else were used. http://rapidshare.com/files/222150909/mmbn_strange_attack.vbm I have no idea what happened or how i did it and i cannot seem to produce it again.

I can't seem to find a topic in this but my question is the following: What's the policy on uploading a player's TAS onto a social networking site(youtube, google, etc.)? Is anybody allowed to upload the TAS AS LONG as the uploader gives FULL credit to the player? I've seen some(but very few) uploaders on youtube who just upload a person's TAS but doesn't give credit to the player at all. I've been meaning to download a lot of these movies on this site, watch them and then upload them to youtube just for entertainment purposes. Of course i'll give FULL credit to the player in my description of the video but i won't upload those that are already uploaded by other users. The real reason i'm doing this is so that i have a copy of the avi file while recording the gameplay to avi so that i can watch it there and go back and forth or just skip to necessary parts for entertainment purposes. I do have an idea as to what to do such as email/private message the player for permission to upload their work but there are so many players here on this site that it could take forever. If a simple "upload and credit" procedure would be fine then it would save a lot of time.

I tried the 0.0.7 version you linked me and it works. I didn't have to configure anything, all i did was replace the file and it already worked. I guess it had to something to do with the one i downloaded. I'm having trouble figuring out how to RErecord something. What I'm doing just overwrites my movie file and all my hard work is lost. The only other way i can figure out what to do is enable "pause after playback" and then record from a new file. Is playback from any point available? It seems if i wanted to just record a portion of the game, after i play the movie file the movie starts from the beginning. It's really annoying when i want to rerecord from that point after i closed the program or want to go back to it if i find something new to add in at that point in the game( i have to watch the whole gameplay from the beginning and then start rerecording from that point.)

Can anybody tell me what's wrong? I seem to be not able to click on File>Movie>Start Playback... Everytime i click on start playback, regardless if an img/iso/game is loaded it will crash. I don't know if it's plugin issue and i've been tinkering around with the configurations for over an hour just to get this thing to work that I can hardly remember what works and what doesn't. Some issues i've also run into is trying to Record AVI as well. Does this function work? It crashes everytime i try to name the file to be saved as. Another issue involves running any game and then i press ESC and tinker around with the configurations. I dont remember what I did but i'm sure i didn't hit reset but when i clicked Emulator>run, the game reset back to the playstation loading logo screen.

There's something i noticed involving the fight between you and the clone. When the clone dies i noticed the stage clear music plays AFTER all the glowing circles thingys disappear from the screen. I was wondering if it was possible to save some frames IF you killed the clone in the middle, thus reducing the time for the glowing circles to travel to the edge of the screen. This is just a suggestion as i don't know what happens if you did since i only watched this on the avi version. My only other guess at why it wasn't attempted was because of the bad extra frame lag trade off.

I don't know if anybody noticed it or if the author intentionally did this but on his 66th star he went into the 6th course! Thus you get the number 666 somewhat.

Thanks. Camtasia Studio 5 works wonders. Camtasia Studio is great when i'm not recording a TAS and when i just like to upload videos for pleasure on youtube. It also auto compresses for me so it does half the job for me. Now i'm having a problem with recording on any emulator that was edited for tas-ing purposes. Like for instance Vba re-recording & fceu re-recording emulators. I'm recording and a freaken 20 second video takes up about 200 mb on my computer. It's outrageous and now i want to ask you guys which compressor will be the best to use. Also, currently because of the imense amount of space the recording features in the emulators take up, i am instead using the camtasia program instead to record. Now i have a slight problem. I'm having trouble recording sound. I'm using a laptop btw. I am able to record sound (it's a bit of a hassle: the voice recognition is on top of my screen but not on the screen, it's where the locks are when the laptop is closing) but only if i pump the volume very high. I don't have a microphone and i'm not sure if it really works. Is there any other way for recording programs to capture sound? I've made some videos and uploaded them on youtube using these programs but the sound can only be heard if the watcher turns up the volume to a higher level than normal.

I'm sure a lot of you are more knowledgable than me with choosing a screen recorder. Now my question to you all is which one is the best for screen recording? I'm not entirely sure how snes games, gba, etc games are being recorded to avi format but i would like to know what program can record really good, can compress(or tell me what program to use to compress it), and is also free. Right now i'm using hypercam and it isn't really that good because some of the hotkeys interfere with other keyboard functions and that could really mess things up. I might also load some (regular) speed runs into speeddemosarchive for your enjoyment but right now finding a really good recording program is really hard for me.

Well since it's been a while that anyone posted on this game, i've found something very interesting that may help on avoiding enemies. As you may have know, jumping with/without armor on makes your character move faster. However when equipping the cape, the character's speed is as fast as his jumping speeding with armor, meaning you don't need to continuously jump anymore to gain speed. I've found out that if you put the turbo on the jump button and move around with the cape(to prevent from losing speed), while moving and jumping at the same time in places where there are enemies, the enemies will not appear until you stop moving or make a slow turn. This is helpful in places where there is no other choice but to kill enemies in your path, that way you can just skim past them and not take time to kill them or take any damage at all! I agree that this is a long game, and the difficulty is just insanely high, well not that high, but really high if you are playing it on the console.

I'm confused. On this site it says that the player aims for the fastest time. But watching it on google, when reading the description, it says the player aims for the fastest time. Which one is it? If it's aims for fastest time then i have a lot of say about saving frames. I don't want to post it now because if the player doesn't aim for the fastest time then i've just wasted my time here. Unless the player or everyone else really wants to know my methods then it's always good to reply anyway.

I'm trying to make a movie of any game on VBA but first i want to be able to also upload this on youtube, one low quality without sound and one nearly perfect. Right now i'm just having trouble doing low quality without sound. For some reason fraps does not pick up game play from VBA so that's out of the question. The movie recording that the emulator has available is below average and i have no idea how to compress it to make it less than 100MB since youtube only allows 100MB. The movie isn't even that long, well... just a test anyway. It's less than 5 mins and it's more than 400MB too. There are many examples all of the place on youtube with people uploading their gameplays but i just don't know how to do it. Anyone care to help?
