So I know I'm just a lurker, I haven't been involved with the community here, but I've watched hundreds of videos from this site over the years, and I wanted to make a post firmly planting myself in the "I don't really see what the big deal is" camp. We all know TASes could never be played on consoles, for a variety of reasons. Heck, unless I misunderstand, you already allow for things which patently can't be done on real hardware, such as pressing left and right at the same time. How exactly is this any different? The site shouldn't be shut down over this...you just need to reformulate a few definitions.

I'm sure this is the wrong place to post this kind of thing, but I don't know where else to do it so please forgive me. The description of this movie contains incorrect information. It says that in this game you play Simon's grandfather Soleiyu. In fact you play Simon's GREAT-grandfather Christopher, on a quest to rescue Christopher's son Soleiyu.

How do you get the game to act like you've awakened all six sages after doing only three? Does the game automatically assume you got them all when you get the spirit medallion?

Excellent work on this run. Now, dumb question: Forgive my ignorance, but shouldn't the Mr. Sandman fight disqualify this for having a "Takes no damage" tag?

Hi folks. I'm new here. In fact I was unfamiliar with the concept of game speedrun videos, tool-assisted or otherwise, until a friend linked me to this site a couple weeks ago. Since then I have been watching through the archive. Very cool stuff! Once I finish watching all the vids I'm interested in here, I'd like to check out some non-assisted videos. I found Speed Demos Archive, and thanks to a post right here, archive.org's page. I was wondering if these are the best archives to find non-assisted speedruns, or if there are any other sites I should be aware of. Let me know. Thanks!

Oh ok, that was easy. I had just assumed the Mother Brain's attack drained you to "almost dead" no matter how many tanks you had. Thanks, sorry if that answer had already been posted and I missed it.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question (I am new here), but can anybody explain to me why, if this is supposed to be a least possible items run, the author gets three energy tanks? Sure it would take a lot longer to painstakingly avoid damage enough to make it through the game with less, but who cares? There is already a speed run movie on the site...this is a least items run, right? Wouldn't it be possible (though perhaps only with inhuman effort on making the movie) to finish this game without ever taking any damage at all, let alone four energy tanks worth? (Excluding of course the parts where you are required to take damage to progress in the game.) I've sure seen it done for lots of other games on this site... I direct this question to the board as a whole rather than the author directly as I suspect it's a bit too complex to break the language barrier. Not a slight on him of course...I can barely understand a word of Japanese myself.
