It took a while but I finally finished the first level of my 100% TAS http://www.mediafire.com/file/munymnmztdw/Chaosv1-BombermanWIP.rar Hope you all enjoy it. Since it is my first TAS any and all comments would be greatly appreciated. Also make sure to turn get framebuffer info on for the naplam plugin or it doesnt sync Edit: About the beginning, I can skip it if i reset. Thats allowed right?

100% then? Im thinking of starting today then since it is substantially longer than an any%. I guess ill post a wip after the first level. It would be helpful though to have bag's Wips to watch. All the links expired before I ever got a chance to watch them. Also for the napalm plugin, for some reason the rom doesnt playback correctly if i playback a movie file. I have to do a work around where I edit the romsettings.ini file. Does anyone know a fix?

Well I tased the first level as well and saved 34 frames, not much but i was thinking of actually going through with this TAS. But I was wondering whether to do an any% or 100% by bag of magic food's rules? Id like to know this before going far into the run. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=56d15122c2c21d79d2db6fb9a8902bda Also I packed in a savestate to skip the mainscreen that should work as long as its the napalm plugin

Well I was thinking of submitting some kind of run for this game, but im not exactly sure which. I could do the first level. Or i found this really funny glitch in the second level that screws up the screen so that you have to play blindly. As a result I was thinking of doing the first three. (First level normally, Second showing off the glitch, and third playing a full level with the glitch). Let me know what you think

well ya but that might be slower, (do you have to hover over the cutscene to get into woodfall?) than just shooting bubbles

plus killing the thief bird (i dont actually know its name) is another good way, but it doesnt respawn.

Well I did make some quick encodes for the child segment are up if you want to see a preview of this amazingness, but there arent any wips of the adult part of the run and once the run is finished im thinking about making a publishable quality avi + youtube segments if bloobiebla wants. In case anyone cant find the child segment encodes... My 95mb low quality avi My 370mb high quality avi

Almost but no, I let them get almost free and clear because I couldnt find a way to kill them sooner that would not exacerbate the horrible lag in this segment and thought it would look cool to have a near miss. Also the music thing is a good idea but it would be difficult to implement seeing as how theres never more than 10 seconds of time to spare except for after bosses and the music tempo doesnt change enough during these times.

Well I was on vacation so I just got back to this (not like anyone is jumping to see the run finished anyway) What I wanted to know was what counts as a 100% kills run, killing all destroyable objects or killing all enemies?

IOtherwise, it just seems too close to finishing to post a worthwhile WIP
True since seeing every part of the run might detract from the overall shock value of the run. Looking forward to the finished masterpiece though

The value that it displays is off, like the little bubbles have 1 health but it displays two, the big bubbles have different health then is shown too but I am not sure by how much.

If we could somehow load save file 5, we would start the game with the first key, so we wouldn't have to fight bowser one. The downside would be that you start without a cap.
save file 5??? can you elaborate

Sorry about that, in the future I wont use AR correction on these games. I was following the encoder guidelines. I always found that rule little wierd, but went with it anyway.

New WIP is up. Feel Free to make comments/suggestions. This level is one of the most laggy and seems like one of the most annoying because they are everywhere, and the lua script doesn't display the health correctly most of the time. However after extraordinary effort, and hours of attempting different strategies, I saved 154 frames in this segment. Total savings: 185 frames

ah thank you Also Cpadolf, since basically all improvements in this run will come from lag reduction, I was wondering what method did you find helped reduce lag the most? As far as I can tell its to reduce the amount of enemies/projectiles on the screen at a minimum and kill the bigger enemies as fast as possible and I dont think ship movements ever cause lag but I could be wrong

Files of the same resolution, codec, framerate, and audio format can be appended in mere seconds. Any work would be in making the ends (fade-out, stats, etc) and beginnings (intro, fade-in, etc) look correct as one file by strategically cutting at keyframes (and in the event that the keyframes don't match up, a small intermediate encode to fill in the gap).
You wouldn't ever need a small intermediate encode, because you can end a movie anywhere, not just at a keyframe and the a recording always starts with a keyframe so it would always work. And I forgot that you have unlimited filesize storage, I thought you might have to recompress after each append to keep it a manageable size.

Was it 31 frames over your or over my run?
Over yours. Also do you know how or where I would go to learn how to add the power of the charged up E. Laser to the script if I already know the addresses?

Yay I think I might actually make some headway. My updated WIP saves 31 frames so far. 7 from the menu, 8 from lag reduction, and 16 from the boss fight. It wasn't easy by any means however, this part was already tightly optimized. I dont think I could have without the amazing script. Thank you Cpadolf.

what happened to part 1 through 3 of your Banjo-Kazooie TAS on your directory listing?
My old hosting ran out, deleting all of my encodes. I had backups of most of the relevant ones, but not parts 1-3. I've been meaning to make one long encode from power-on to latest but I haven't, and most people following this run already had them. If Sami says FP will be done just as quickly as MMM, I could wait for that, ortherwise, I might as well start tonight (takes a while). PS: Sami, surely you'll need energy before RBB... Won't you be doing the fast landing that takes away health, like you did to speak to bottles in GV at all?
Couldn't you make the current progress single encode, and when freezy peak or really all following wips get posted, just append them? Of course that might be very time consuming so i dont know

Thank you, I tried to make it as entertaining as possible. Unfortunately watching the movie again, I think thats what caused the slow down. I didn't realize while making it that shooting the charged up ball at the dragon causes lag. I watched your movie, and should probably do like you did and take it to the dragon. Also thanks for the script it is really helpful with those pesky dragons/airbase thingies EDIT: Or is the lag actually caused by how long the dragon is alive?

Hey I was looking around for a game to make my first TAS submission with and Gradius caught my eye, because TASed arcade games are very entertaining for me at least. I started TASing it and came up with this WIP . Hope you guys enjoy it because I am thinking of taking a crack at beating the current published run. Also feedback/comments would be appreciated. :)

I was shocked to find a complete lack of frogger movies, or even discussion on the site. The only thing i found was this ignored topic http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6497 I think frogger would be an excellent addition to the site. Its not slow by any means, its widely known to the community, and its a game that is very difficult to beat normally making a TAS very entertaining. If there is enough interest for it, I would like to start working on it. As for the goal I am not too sure what it should be, but I am open to suggestions. I am not too sure if there is a set amount of levels because I never beat the game, but if there is I would want to go with that. I also made a WIP and AVI of the first level, let me know what you think.

probably not, but in the twinmold fight would using normal arrows throughout be faster since theres no shooting delay?
