Unless there is a viable ACE method. The only theoretical thing they can do now is find a way to open the moat door without using VCUtM.
I could imagine a wrongwarp being discovered to teleport to the BitS fight (or even just to any upstairs stage), without full-on ACE.

Not sure if it has been said, but would PUs help any other overworld traversal outside the moat?
You can only go to PUs in areas where you're allowed to lock the camera. I dunno about the rest of the castle, but you can't lock the camera in the lobby at least.

@Tyler, I'm looking forward to your write-up :) @Whole team. Quick question. When you pause in the VCutM to switch to Lakitu camera, would it not have been better to pause a few seconds later to benefit from pause buffering the BLJs while losing those few frames?
I believe you can only change the camera settings if you're paused whole standing still.

Is there any resource that explains how overflow jumping works? That's the only glitch I didn't understand in this video.

I've spent a bit of time trying to guess what the solution is going to be (I have an idea that would probably work zero stars but would also probably be even slower than just getting the key) and I look forward to seeing what the real answer is.

Nobody would want to do that while new button saves are still being found. That said, is 70 star at a reasonable place yet, or does it still have 12+ hours of watching Mario do boring repetitive actions like swimming in WDW or gaining speed in HMC?

This run is great. I hope back-to-back RKS runs means that there's a possibility of a Freudenstachel run on the horizon.

Does anyone actually know why emulators don't crash when the camera goes OOB?
I think it's because if the camera's position is too large a value, it will overflow an N64, but not a virtual console, because it has more memory and more modern memory management.

I'd say make an official video out of it, but don't edit the spreadsheet, or at most put an asterisk in it clarifying that on VC the count is lower.

Run was cool. I enjoy weird runs like these, especially when they take advantage of tricks you don't see when speed is your only goal.

I actually meant ceilings, not walls. Whoops!

Nothing but walls and floors exist in PUs, so I'm not sure there's any BLJ spots.

^I believe the glitched Bob-omb clone's backwards momentum is needed to get off the pole, and there are no Bob-ombs that can be reached at the BitFS pole.
Oh, I forgot that reaching the pole with a bob-omb in hand would be nontrivial.

Could the trick used on the pole be used in BitFS, or is there something I'm not understanding here?

It's impressive to complete a game that usually takes something like 15 hours to complete in 12 minutes. I wouldn't think that a Fire Emblem game would ever be all that entertaining as a TAS. Single-select movement (except FE Gaiden), repetitive attack animations, unskippable dialogues in the earlier games, etc. FE4 has ginormous maps and endless backtracking. But then again Langrisser 1 (Warsong) got a moon.
There are already three fire emblem games with moons. They're extremely different to watch than this run, so that doesn't really weigh in on whether this run should be moon or vault, but it sounded like you hadn't watched them, so I figured I'd mention it.

I agree with the decision to do normal mode instead of H5 both because this shows more gameplay (the 5 prologue chapters don't show up in difficulties above normal) and because the beginning of the game (up until the warp train starts) would look like a normal run except with faster cursor movement, because early H5 is very unforgiving of alternate strategies. We wouldn't even get the entertainment of watching a master tactician because everything moves too fast to understand what's going on and appreciate the strategies. Voting yes. I wish I had known about text advancing the RNG, I had considered running this game years ago and gave up because at the time the system clock was the only known way to change randomness. e: My opinion on which difficulty to play on is basically specific to this game; it's as far as I know the only game in the series that's TASable and doesn't have an easily-manipulable RNG.

It's unfortunate that the ending will be so much less cool, then (and we'll have to watch Fomortiis' slow as hell attack animation). The Purge Sage in chapter 16 is also in a much weirder location in Ephraim route, so we unfortunately won't have access to that either.

I think starting from SRAM to get the faster unit movement will cause the run to be rejected. It's sad that you won't be able to get sub-hour because of it, but that's the way it is. Are there any major known improvements in chapters 1-8, or will you be able to cannibalize those from the existing run? e: I'm also curious to see how Cormag ends up--is he better enough than Vanessa that he's worth using over her despite not being able to triangle attack Fomortiis? Or is he basically going to be just a better Tana, filling in when you need an extra flier?

Hilarious even if you aren't familiar with the game is a high hurdle to jump, but you've managed it. Strong yes from me.

Incredible run. The amount of work put into this one can't even be compared to the other FEs on this site.

I just hope the next time you find 30 seconds of improvement in chapter one you don't decide to restart all the way over again despite just having to crit Idoun to finish.

Glad to see this didn't die right on the edge of completion. You do intend to catch up the RNG in chapter 7, accept that that's probably 20 frames slower than rerecording everything, and moving on to hexing stuff in, right?

Have you hit some sort of snag? I was thinking you were only a week or two from polishing this off.

It is kinda neat that this game is so much front-heavy than the other two GBA games.
