I knew about the up+down trick from the Link to the Past video, but this one goes far beyond that in craziness. Yes vote. It would be nice if I knew what was going on.
Says who?
Me, one of the people who'll be doing the run.
Yeah right. In case you missed it, part of the reason this got published is that no one believed your movie would ever come out. If you hadn't noticed, adelikat and others had been desperately trying to get the other movie off the site. There was the attempted 'grue obsoletion' which was rejected by a majority of the site. Then, they farmed THIS movie from a completely different site. Perhaps if there was any believe your mystical, wonderful perfect movie was going to happen before the year 2020, this movie would have been rejected. Really, if there is anyone you should 'blame' for this movie being on the site, its you. But, you are Mr. Perfect. I'm sure you'll continue your passive-aggressive 'protest' against this site, because YOU didn't get to obsolete a 2.5 hour movie.
Boo-friggin-hoo.
If you have a problem with the "rules", it's obvious you don't want the run published.
I'm afraid this does not follow: if proposition A is the causal condition of proposition B, one's opinion of proposition B has no bearing on proposition A. Therefore, one can have no opinion on whether or not the run should be published while still feeling that if the run is published, it should set some kind of precedent for later runs with regards to language. Nor do I think this is at all an unreasonable position.
In theory you're right but absolutely not in this instance. In this case, it's like saying "We should check out Obama's birth certificate" and then denying that you are a birther because you never said "Obama was born in Kenya." No matter how much Slowking wants to deny it, he thinks the run sucks and shouldn't be published, got shot down by the voters and the judges, and so then switched his focus to trying to deny the run via rules technicality (not even a real rules violation, mind you, like the previous OoT run which was invalidated because it was beat by a console run).
He's entitled to his opinion. But then he whined for a faster encode after flaming the site, quite a douchebag move which he deserves to get called out for.
Why do you care about encode quality if you think this run is terrible anyway, and you don't care for the site because you can't accept the landslide vote?
Because encode quality has nothing to do with the run, barring console.
No, but for some reason everyone has completely missed the irony of him talking shit about the site and how this run shouldn't be published in one sentence yet demanding that the site produce a quality of the run quickly in the next.
Maybe the problem is that you can't read. I never said that this run shouldn't be published. I only said that the next run should also be allowed to use the J version and I did clearify that multiple times now. And yeah I'm talking "shit" about a site that doesn't consider it's own rules to be relevant. Do you have a problem with that?
I have a problem with you being a douche and talking shit about the site in one second but in the next demanding the site do something for you. Somehow you expect that by insulting someone, you'll get them to do you a favor?
If you have a problem with the "rules", it's obvious you don't want the run published. But you're on the wrong side of a landslide. If someone lost an election 80-20 typically they can't find a hole in the ground fast enough to hide in.

4. Even if you decided to make your own site just so you could do your run on the J version, this site will go on. Someone else will pick up the Ocarina of Time run because it's just too popular of a game with too much potential to just have a run sit there with clear improvements.
1. I wouldn't make my own site to use the J rom, I would make my own site because the rules on this site seem to be worth about as much as dog shit...
2. Yeah ofcourse someone else would make a great OoT run, because in the past 4 years so many people have done so. *rofl*
Btw. this run has been excepted for days now. When will we finally get a good encode? Nico video is really crappy.

Looks like the actual voting is totally not in line with how the thread is going.
There seems to be a silent (vast) majority and a (very) loud (and quite small) minority.
well, no need to actually care about the language, because a really well TASed OoT run on the US version is still able to beat this TAS by a well amount of time ;)
if you care, I want this run not to be publish not because of the language, but because of the low level of optimizing. the runner was just not experienced enough to be able to do a fully optimized run. he also didn't aim for optimizing in most cases as he admitted in the TAS description, but I must say, he did an amazing job for this being his first TAS he ever did, though (someone told me, that this was the first TAS he ever did, not sure)
as I'm an OoT TASer myself, I just can't stand all the sloopiness shown in this TAS. bloobiebla set the level an OoT TAS must have and this TAS is far away from reaching the same level. in my opinion it's just not ok to publish such a run, because people, that are not really experienced with speed running zelda (not actually TASing) will think, that this guy did the most optimized and best TASer ever. it's sad enough, that most people on youtube still think, that guano's TAS is the best TAS ever made :/
when I or anybody else works on a TAS he works hours and hours on every little thing to really optimize it, but when you then read people calling this brilliantly played you start to think:
"why am I actually trying to optimize? it's pointless, the average viewer won't notice, so let's just make a quick TAS without trying to optimize at all"
I hope you understand, what I've written the right way. I'm not trying to say, that I could easily beat this TAS within one day of work, because I'm so awesome, I just want to say, that publishing this TAS would be a step back into the wrong direction ;)
So because Duke Nukem Forever will be the greatest FPS of all time, nobody can release an FPS until it is released?
The promised OOT run is apporaching DNF-level vaporware. Let's not lie to ourselves.
To the No people, basically this would mean that you think since Duke Nukem Forever will be the greatest FPS of all time, no FPS can be released until DNF is released.
I like the killing off of your allies to save time in early battles.
However, I don't get why waiting a long time to hand Cricket Pie to Frogfucious saves time, it seems that sequence is mandatory anyway.
Significantly more entertaining than the previous one. I'll give it a yes vote.
I'd find it more entertaining though if you got Pikachu to commit suicide without hitting him (I've done this on console before) and if you crushed Ness at the end after speeding through the credits.
Well... that sucks. I can't see any good reasoning for that.
Oh well. At least you can still pick up some Lores from the Veldt, right?
The only enemies that appear on the Veldt are ones that you've already fought elsewhere.
The no exp thing is annoying for normal purposes, but golden for low level runs, who fight there repeatedly as a way to build up AP without gaining EXP. I think the reasoning for it is that the monsters on the Veldt are significantly weaker than their normal counterparts oustdie.
I'm using the 1.43 found here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6471
As to the rom, I'm using the (U) rom. I don't know if there are any other versions but there was no version marker.
I don't understand either. I just played the movie, but it didn't skip anything ?
I definitely saw the skips... Yakra just sort of stood there while the party walked out, Heckran sort of committed suicide, and the party walked right past Ozzie to the other side of the bridge. This definitely saves time over fighting the actual battles.
The one thing I thought really didn't make much sence getting was the glided sword, I know it a lot more powerful but it sure takes an age to obtain. I think its probally faster for a real time player but certainly not for a TASer.
I think the idea is to clear the bottle so that a trip to pinnacle rock can be saved.
