I've been mulling this over in my head. I don't want to come to TASvideos some day a few years from now and have pages of only 2 minute save corruption runs demonstrating nothing from the game. Unlike some people I think entertainment is secondary to speed (thus my easy yes vote here), but the aforementioned scenario sounds depressing. I think a "uses save corruption" category could be very useful in alleviating that future and should maybe be considered.
I am also very curious if this mid-frame reset could ever be accomplished on a real console, even just once. We wouldn't support an emulator only construct would we?
Reeaaaallly, thanks for pointing that out. Very interesting.
Thanks for the explanation. Aside from verifying the run, can the very concept of mid-frame resets be verified?
+1. If this very concept and exact route is from someone else, I think that person is fairly a coauthor.
headexplode.jpg that was amazing!
Yes vote...assuming these mid-frame resets would be possible on a real machine. If its an emulator only construct that I don't think its cool.
Regarding the comments of it being boring...well, it is. But its the fastest run, and I don't see how it doesn't obsolete the others, without creating as suggested a new category for save corruption based runs.
My 2 cents.

Scoured this thread for a Youtube link and could not find one. If I read your earlier comments correctly Mister Epic then posting your encode to Youtube is OK. Posted as Unlisted for others like me looking to watch the submission, will remove if anyone has a problem with that.
Yes vote from me. Entertaining, very different from N64 run and some great glitches.
I voted yes after watching, but before I realized its not actually "real time" faster than the current published run.
My 2 cents is that if there was only going to be one published run, it should be the real time run. I think that's clearly the main goal. But there are already plenty of games with multiple publications of different interesting conditions (newgame+, 100% runs, etc.). Given that fact, the question then becomes whether for Super Metroid a "lowest in-game time" publication is interesting. That's obviously subjective, but I think it is.
+1
I waited to vote Yes until I watched it, but I've been following the WIP and knew this would be fantastic. Secret of Mana is my favorite game of all time and you did a fantastic job Touch-me, thank you for your run! I also wasn't aware you got the time even lower!!!
I actually really like the running commentary, Japanese boss names, HP values, etc. Not sure if the final video would have it but I think more TASes should do that type of thing.
Your English is great Touch-me, infinitely better than my Japanese :). Any one of us could give the commentary a once over to polish it up.
Gone but not forgotten my friend! Not only have I always viewed these runs as each building off the previous, but yours broke new ground and melted my eyes when I first saw it.
Hell yes vote! Great new route, entertaining as always. I can't believe this game has been improved yet again. I've enjoyed watching Mario 64 get improved over and over again probably more than any other game on here.
OK watching the gradius run on a real NES brought me an inappropriate amount of happiness.
I support the creation of the console verified checkmark, great addition.
Thanks again micro500 for all your work on this project.
Our community continues to amaze me.
Wow, that's pretty high.
Back when I worked as a web designer the highest we saw (for Adwords) was around 20%.
I guess for a more tech oriented site you'll have a higher portion of users using ad blockers.
The real shame is that most people using ad blockers want to avoid the real invasive and annoying advertising, but by blocking out all advertising they also block the non intrusive advertising of websites who depend on advertising revenue.
I think as adblocking tools get more easy to use the networks (YPN, etc.) will have to work around it. Just having one external linked file, wile efficient in other ways, makes it far too easy to block for example.
I am sure they had an index of many pages - but every subpage? Maybe not.
Even if they had it completely crawled, they may not have been analyzed for contextual advertising yet. That may be a two step process - step one, crawl and index the page; step two analyze for contextual ads - who knows?
I was just being optimistic about it. Better targeted ads = more clicks.
Furthermore, YPN is currently in private beta. It's not as widely available as adsense. That probably means there are lest advertiser, which means that Yahoo would be less able to deliver a properly targeted ad.
Overall, I think that Yahoo targeting will probably improve overtime.
My 2 cents.
Yea, I told you they weren't as well targeted. Here's hoping that:
A. The initial bad targeting was due to pages not being crawled yet.
B. If that isn't true, Yahoo continues to improve the service.
I am in YPN. I could give you my login information, you do whatever you want, and I'll transfer the money to you in whatever means you want whenever you want.
