Life has many doors Ed Link boy.
The gameplay starts at 5 mins in and the route only gets particularly non-standard around 28-29 mins in. Gets really crazy at around 50 mins in.
Even if you don't count the front door to the Temple of Time, 42:55 looks like a door to me.
Is the RNG for coin flips even the same for TCG2? I know the minigame in the game corner is always winnable with the right timing but haven't experimented with infinite flip attacks.
My least favorite of the 7 Metroid style Castlevanias, yet probably the most fun to watch a TAS of because of how the game can be completely and utterly broken. Yes.
(Excluding Game End Glitch, Demonstration and Corrupts Memory branch runs, is there any TAS that breaks the game more than the GBA/DS Castlevania runs? Even Gen 1 Pokemon takes a while to get totally broken.)
Really the biggest problem (which could also make the run more entertaining, though most likely manipulation would make it pointless) with a TAS for 2 is the fights that require specific things from a deck (only ___ energy, must have ___ in deck).
How about adding in Stadium 1 (which will require minimal modification from the existing Gym Leader Castle run, just manipulating the gifted Pokemon, redoing the final battle while the other runs are running+connecting at the end) to get extra fossils, Eevees and Hitmons (and maybe starters) for Yellow? Is it technologically possible?
There's an existing thread, but it's over 10 years old, so a new one is called for

Judging by the thumbnails (haven't watched the test runs yet) all the attempts seem to use Sugar. That's interesting because the RTA run's notes (which in general has some advice relevant to TASing the game) say the best companion for a speed run would be Zantek or Kutty because of boss resistances. No idea if the assumptions change in a TAS.
Interested in seeing the finished. Liked this game and superhuman control on it seems interesting.
Wonder how using a finished run to sync to Toadstool Tour and complete all the tournaments there with the same character would work out as far as rules on the site go.
Wonder how feasible a The Elder Scrolls: Arena TAS would be.
Strafe running seems to be in and makes getting places relatively fast. Absolutely everything is (seemingly) luck based, from hit chance to if you even meet monsters at all. All the treasure in the first dungeon is so random that there's a chance to get incredibly powerful gear just outside the cell you start the game in. According to UESP, [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Fang_Lair#Bugs]rerunning the first (relatively short) dungeon ~15 times will win the game[/url] which should cut down on length immensely (though would murder the entertainment value), particularly as it bypasses the bosses.
Game is throughly broken in a lot of places. Enjoyed it.
Why do you toggle the silencer in a lot of places? Does it change the AI/RNG or is it just for time killing?
There's a Flash game for the Sega Master System. Looking at videos of the game it's very fast and (seemingly) hard to control as a result. Seems like that would make it a good game for TASing on all levels.
So the Mario Golf and Mario Tennis games on the GBC and GBA are eligible for their career mode?
Why restrict team based sports? Time based I understand, but why team based? Something like NFL street (where it's possible to complete the career mode with all games being manipulated to be first to 3 points instead of best score when time runs out) seems like a valid enough game to TAS.
Even if someone finds (a) glitch(s) that makes it really crazy?
Enjoyed the run, though fastfowarded through a lot of it (read all the commentary I saw though) because walking on an optimized path and manipulating RNG to win fights when it's done as easily (always manipulable, never forced to eat an attack you don't want to) as Gen 1 Pokemon. Most interesting part is the routing, which is pretty interesting.
The most obvious hurdle is that, currently, GBA/GCN link doesn't work with VBA-M (It works for other games, but not Pokemon. For Pokemon it just gives an error), doesn't exist in Bizhawk/m-GBA/VBA (not sure on that last one, but it's massively out of date).
How much time (if any) could be saved if the N64 Pokemon Stadium Gym Leader's Castle TAS was used to produce the third starter, third Eevee and potentially the Hitmons (only the last stage needs repeating)? If the storage was used to transfer things in large numbers? I don't think it's technologically possible, but an interesting approach.
I think the RCs are pretty far behind on updates actually (though no idea if they are THAT far behind). I'll have to try to see if recent SVNs work on this though (though this isn't a priority for me).
Gladiator Begins is a nice little game. Not sure on how much RNG based it is (enemy equipment could be fixed for all I know)
Gundam Battle Universe gets pretty fast in the latter generations (which actually vary quite a bit in play, which should make the video entertaining enough) and has a weird "random" skills/stats system for the player character (that's actually based entirely off the selected options, including name, during character creation. Should be easy enough to crack). You get a total of 500 free tuning points (Which isn't that much, but it applies to EVERY suit in the game) for save games from previous games in the series, which could make for a very odd TAS that starts two entirely different games before even turning on the game being run!
The Kenka Bancho 3, the only English one, is notable for its time limit: You aren't intended to be able to complete everything (school events and district domination) on one playthrough, but this really sounds like a challenge to me.
